A week had passed since that night in the hospital, but Emma still couldn't shake the image of David's face when he heard that she wanted a divorce.

His expression had been so chaotic — disbelief, anger, sadness, and even a touch of grievance. She couldn’t understand why he had shown such a complicated expression.

Anyways, she was too tired to try and figure out what went on in his mind anymore. She had made her decision; she was going to divorce him and what he thought didn't matter to her.

Moreover, Emma hadn’t seen David since that night. He must have been busy making up for the time lost with Henry, repairing their relationship. As for her, she wasn’t idle either.

She had been busy packing up her things, preparing to leave. Once David signed the divorce papers, they would have nothing more to do with each other.

But Emma also knew that even if her divorce with David was a foregone conclusion, she still needed to inform David's grandfather.

She sighed, remembering that she once

Five years later, Geneva, Switzerland. "Clamp off," Emma instructed, her voice calm but firm. One of the nurses quickly complied, and the heart began beating on its own. "Excellent work, Dr. Morgan," one of the residents said, his tone filled with admiration. Emma didn’t respond immediately. Her focus remained on the patient until she was satisfied with the stability of the vitals. Finally, she stepped back and nodded. “Close him up and monitor his recovery closely. The next 24 hours are critical.” As she stripped off her gloves and gown, the head nurse approached her. “Dr. Morgan, you never cease to amaze us. That was a high-risk procedure, and you handled it like it was routine.” Emma offered a small smile, though her mind was already on her next task. “It’s what we’re trained to do. Let’s hope the patient agrees with us in recovery.” She exited the OR and headed to her office. The walls were lined with certificates, awards, and framed articles praising her groundbreaking wor

Professor Charles Callum sat reclined in an armchair, his hands folded over the cane resting between his knees. Across from him sat David Lawson, his face pale and filled with worry. “My son needs help, Professor Charles. He was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart condition,” David said, his voice trembling as he leaned forward. “No one else will touch the case. They all say it’s too risky, but I can’t accept that. Henry deserves a chance…he's my only son.” Prof. Charles sighed, his aged face filled with sympathy. “Mr. Lawson, I understand your plight. But I’m retired. I haven’t held a scalpel in years, let alone kept up with the advancements in modern cardiac surgery. It would be a disservice to your son for me to attempt this.” "But you’re Charles Callum," David pressed, sounding desperate. "You’re a legend in cardiac surgery. If anyone can do this, it’s you.”Prof. Charles shook his head, a bittersweet smile crossing his lips. “I can’t take that risk, not with a life as de

  • Loving The Billionaire Gone Wrong   Meeting Dr. Morgan

David stood in the hospital's waiting area, still staring in the direction Emma had disappeared, his mind struggling to catch up with what his eyes had just seen. Emma—here, in this hospital? The thought sent a jolt through him. He had spent years wondering where she had gone, what had become of her, and now, out of nowhere, she was right in front of him. A flood of questions swirled in his mind. How long had she been here? More than anything, he wanted to ask her everything—how she had been, what had happened after she left, and, most pressing of all, how she had managed to rebuild her life after their divorce. And to crown it all, she looked… stunning. Even after all these years, time had done nothing to dull her beauty. If anything, it had only refined it. Her dark hair, once soft waves, was now neatly pulled back, giving her this elegant, professional look. David swallowed, a strange tightness settling in his chest. He had expected a lot of things when he came to this hospital—

  • Loving The Billionaire Gone Wrong   Flicker of Recognition

David stared at the picture on the nurse's phone, surprised. He saw a group of doctors walking out of the operating room while talking to each other. Although there were many people, he immediately saw that the focus of the photo was the two people in the center of the crowd. He thought that this was Dr. Morgan and...Emma. Dr. Morgan was just as he thought, a middle-aged woman, serious, calm, and very professional. As for Emma... Seeing Emma leaning close to Dr. Morgan, saying something with a smile on her face, David couldn’t help but frown. Emma seemed to be the same as before, always wanting to stand in the center to attract the attention of others. In such a serious occasion, how could she, an intern, walk in front of everyone and stand with Dr. Morgan? She was still laughing and not serious at all. Emma… again. Why does she keep showing up everywhere I turn? David thought. His mind was spinning as he looked back at the woman standing next to Emma. The middle-aged woman seemed

  • Loving The Billionaire Gone Wrong   Unravelled Identity

The moment their eyes met, Emma's expression flickered, betraying a storm of emotions—anger, betrayal, and a flash of something far more vulnerable, something that cut deeper than she wanted to admit. For that short moment, she looked exposed, like the walls she had built around herself had cracked. But then, just as quickly, she pulled herself together. Her face hardened, and she sat up straighter, looking calm and in control again. Remembering the photo of Dr. Morgan and Emma he'd just seen earlier, David quickly pieces all the information - it seemed that Emma was Dr. Morgan's student or assistant. Seeing Emma sitting on the chair with no intention of getting up, as if she was the owner of the chair, David sighed helplessly and said, “Emma, now is not the time to play role-playing games, can you please stand up and go find Dr. Morgan, I really have something important to talk to her about!” Realizing that David thought she probably dressed like this on purpose; he had alread

David stood frozen, his mind struggling to keep up. Emma. Emma Morgan. Now that he thought about it, It all made sense now—Morgan, Emma's late mother’s surname. Of course. And If there was anyone capable of helping Emma disappear completely and building her career, of creating a new identity so seamlessly that even the best private investigators he'd hired in the past had failed to track her, it had to be his grandfather. His influence, his resources—there was no doubt in David’s mind that his grandfather had orchestrated everything. Afterall, he was the same person who had used every means to make David sign the divorce papers, even to the point of threatening to disown him. And Emma? She had done more than just disappear. She had rebuilt herself from nothing, becoming someone remarkable…becoming Dr. Morgan. Yet, as David stood there, staring at her in stunned silence. A smirk spread across her lips as Emma tilted her head. "Why do you look so surprised, David? Shouldn’t you b

  • Loving The Billionaire Gone Wrong   The Breaking Point

David stood frozen, his mind struggling to process Emma’s words. "I won’t be operating on Henry." The relief he had felt moments ago turned into something heavy and unbearable. He had expected anger, maybe even some resistance, but outright refusal? No. Not from Emma—not when she had admitted that Henry’s condition, though delicate, wasn’t impossible to treat. His chest tightened. He couldn’t understand. His voice came out uneven, disbelieving. "You— You’re refusing? Why?" She did hate Alison and David, and she did hope that they would not have an easy life, but Henry was innocent. How could she tell them that the probability of Henry surviving and recovering was very low? How could she say such cruel words? "I don’t owe you an explanation, David," she said. "I have the right to refuse any case, and I’m exercising that right now." David’s breath hitched. "The right to refuse?" He let out a dry, humorless laugh, rubbing a hand over his jaw. "You mean to tell me that after eve

Emma sat at her desk long after David had stormed out, her fingers still curled into the armrests of her chair. “I refuse to believe you'll just sit there and watch Henry die, Emma. Hell, This is not the Emma I know! When did you become like this?” David’s words echoed in her head, and she hated how much they affected her. She wasn’t heartless. She wasn’t cruel…but why did she feel so unsettled? Her jaw tightened as she suddenly felt angry. She had done nothing wrong. Henry’s condition was complex, and her decision was based on medical reasoning. She wasn’t obligated to explain herself to David. And yet… Why was she feeling bothered? She had believed she had moved on. That the past no longer held power over her. But in just a few minutes, with only a handful of words, David had unsettled her in ways she never expected. Had she really made the right decision? The thought disturbed her. By the time she left the hospital that evening, a deep frown had settled on her face. She

The days passed in a blur as Emma worked tirelessly to settle back into New York. Between her new position as a visiting medical consultant and her ongoing recovery, she barely had a moment to herself. But despite her packed schedule, one thing took priority above all else—finding the perfect school for Claire. After thorough research and numerous calls, Emma had finally settled on one of the most prestigious private schools in the city. The curriculum was excellent, the environment warm, and most importantly, it felt like the right place for Claire to thrive. The final step in the process was the admission interview. Emma had expected it to be routine—just a few questions about Claire’s background, education, and personality. But as she sat across from the school's admission panel, she quickly realized the interview was more intrusive than she had anticipated.“Ms. Morgan, could you tell us a little about Claire’s father?”Emma stiffened slightly. The question wasn’t unexpected, but

Papers were stacked neatly on Dr. Allen's desk, medical journals piled in one corner. Emma sat opposite him, her hands resting on her lap as she listened to him speak. “I’m truly grateful you reconsidered, Dr. Morgan.” Dr. Allen's voice was filled with warmth. “Staying in New York to recover is the right decision. Your health should always come first.” Emma gave a small, polite nod, but internally, she scoffed. Reconsidered? That made it sound like she had made the choice willingly. If it were up to her, she and Claire would be on a flight out of New York long ago. But she hadn’t been given that choice. The city—no, someone—had made sure of that. Dr. Allen continued, his smile widening. “And I must say, I’m beyond pleased that you’ve also decided to accept our offer as a visiting medical consultant. It's our privilege to officially have you here, Dr. Morgan.”“Thank you, Dr. Allen,” she said, maintaining a composed expression. Medical consultant. That was the formal title. Sh

The tension in the airport lounge was thick, pressing against Emma as she tried to make sense of the situation. Just moments ago, she had been ready to leave New York behind. Now, she stood in the middle of a bureaucratic nightmare, unable to board the plane despite having done everything by the book. Her fingers curled tightly around her phone as she listened to the airport official explain—again—that they had received strict instructions preventing her from traveling. “We have been informed that you recently underwent major surgery, Dr. Morgan,” the airport manager said, his tone polite but unyielding. “For your own safety, and based on medical advisories, we cannot allow you to fly at this time.” Emma’s heart pounded. How did they know that? The only ones who were supposed to have access to her medical records were the hospital staff and herself. Her gaze flickered to Christian, who stood beside her, arms crossed, lips pressed in a thin line. He had sensed something was w

“You are not fit to travel, Dr. Morgan.” Dr. Allen’s voice was firm, his sharp gaze fixed on Emma as she sat on the hospital bed, already dressed in casual clothes. He held her medical chart in one hand, tapping it lightly against his palm in frustration. Emma sighed and took a deep breath. She'd already lost count of the number of times Dr. Allen had tried convincing her to stay back in New York. She felt fine, and had recovered quite significantly. She wanted to return back to Switzerland, to her old, safe haven.Afterall, Henry had recovered quite well and Dr. Allen could monitor his recovery and take good care of him. There was nothing left for her in New York anymore.“I know my body quite well, Dr. Allen. I can travel,” Emma stated firmly.Doctor Allen shook his head and let out a tired sigh. It seemed he was also tired of arguing with Emma, but wasn't ready to give up yet.“Knowing your body doesn’t change medical facts. You had surgery, Dr. Morgan. Flying is not advisable i

Christian had just stepped out of the elevator, heading towards Emma's room when he spotted a group of people leaving Emma’s hospital room. His gaze instinctively swept over them, taking in the sight of the older man at the front who wore a resigned expression, his shoulders slightly hunched as if carrying a weight too heavy for him. Beside him, a woman walked with a stiff posture, her lips pressed into a thin line of irritation. It was the last person in the group that caught his attention. The young woman walked slightly behind the others, her head bowed low, long strands of dark hair flowing over her face, hiding her features. But Christian’s eyes lingered on her for a second longer than necessary. Something about her presence triggered an odd sensation within him—a sense of familiarity he couldn’t quite place. His brows furrowed slightly as he tried to recall where he had seen her before. He could only catch a glimpse of her delicate nose, the curve of her chin beneath her lo

Infact, the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became. Her fingers clenched the sheets as fragmented memories of the accident replayed in her mind. The moment of the crash. The way her body had been thrown forward. The pain that had spread through her like wildfire. Then—darkness. If looks could kill, Christian would already be buried six feet under from the intensity of David's glare. It felt as if he were in an interrogation room, accused of a serious crime.Christian arched a brow, surprisingly unfazed by David’s aggressive stance.“I don’t see how that’s any of your business.” David stepped forward, closing the distance between them, his eyes dark and probing. “It is my business,” he countered. “Emma and I—” “Are nothing,” Christian interrupted smoothly, his voice calm, unbothered. “You both have nothing to do with each other. The doctor had barely left the room when David let out a long breath, attempting to release the tension that had been gripping him. His hands, which had been clenched into fists for what felt like an eternity, finally eased as he raked his fingers through his hair. It was only then that the weight of his own actions hit him. He had been so consumed by his emotions, jealousy, and frustration that he hadn’t even asked the most important question. How was Emma feeling? What had even happened to her? His jaw tightened at the realization. He had let his emotions take control, completely overlooking the fact that she had just come out of a coma.He turned his attention back to her. She looked so fragile sitting in that hospital bed, her face slightly pale, yet there was something in her eyes that made his heart tighten. Without thinking much, he walked over and pulled a chair beside her bed. “How are you feeling?” His voice was lower now, softer than before. Emma hesitated fo

His fists clenched at his sides as he took a step forward, his voice cutting through the tense silence. “What the hell is going on here?!”His eyes, burning with fury, locked onto Christian, who remained irritatingly composed.Emma parted her lips, about to speak, but before she could utter a word, Christian gently placed a hand over hers, his touch light yet possessive. “Don’t stress yourself, Emma,” he murmured, his voice soft, almost affectionate. “Let me handle this.”The way he said it—so effortlessly intimate—made David’s vision blur with rage.
