It was hard for Chris to pull his eyes away from his daughter in-law. He had never seen anyone look this gorgeous in such a simple dinner dress and stiletto.

The champagne gold dress clung to her body like a second skin with the high slit running from her mid thigh down, accentuating her long flawless straight legs. And those heels? They were made for her.

As though Gina felt Chris' intense gaze on her, she looked up to meet those deep blue eyes that fascinated her.

Chris quickly recollected himself, tearing his eyes away from her and cleared his throat as his daughter in-law took a seat beside his son who merely threw her a glance as he drew out a seat for her.

“Mia.” Gina steadied herself from falling. She did not expect that the sister she had been on the phone with about half an hour ago was already in her home all the while they spoke. She almost rolled her eyes as she saw how calmly seated her father was as though he did not just sell his daughter off for a business deal.

Chris smiled at Gina. "Nice to have you with us, dear.” He said warmly.

The long time housekeeper expertly placed succulent roasted rib on the plates accompanying it with mashed potatoes, sauted onions and steamed broccoli. There were also plates of steamed veggies, onion soup and warm, crusty bread.

“Happy married life sis!” Mia rapped out with her usual excitement. “Mom and Nina sends their wishes.” The words unexpectedly came out lower than the first statement as if she had spoken forbidden words.

“Thank you, Mia.” She shot her a knowing look that only sisters could understand.

Mia giggled, she understood that her sister was relieved that their mother or in Gina's case, stepmom alongside their oldest sister were absent for the dinner.

Anthony had specifically made sure that he brought only Mia along with him. He did not want to make Gina more uncomfortable than he had already done. "Happy married life daughter." Anthony wore a grateful smile on his face for she was his savior.

“Alright." Chris cleared his throat again. "Gina, this is Mr Anderson of the Anderson group, a business associate and good friend of the family and his wife, Dr Emily.” Chris went on to introduce the couple by his far left. “And next to them is John. A close friend of mine.”

“So everyone, I raise you the lady of the house.” Chris said with a laugh.

Gina blushed slightly and exchanged greetings with everyone at the table.

John merely nodded briefly at her, he suddenly got to understand what drew his friend to her to her the previous night at the club. Not only was she beautiful, she had this look of innocence that in some way could drive a man crazy. What he did not understand was how the same girl ended up as his son's wife. He knew Chris would never deliberately sleep with his son's. He could vouch for him, his friend had total control of himself.

A small awkward smile appeared on Gina's face. “What's wrong with him. Do they pay to speak in this house?” She wondered, her eyes shifting to Adams who wasn't bothered about the pleasantries and moving back to the middle aged man.

“Glad to have you as a part of our family circle, Gina.” Mr Anderson acknowledged her, drawing her attention and causing her to smile genuinely this time.

“She's such a sweet girl.” Mrs Anderson cooed at Gina's sweet smile. “You're so beautiful that the title ‘Mrs Carter’ fits you so well.” She gushed.

“Don’t forget, we hope to carry cute babies soon enough.” She winked, causing everyone at the table to laugh, including the high and mighty John Wilson.

Just then, the housekeeper said with a bow. "Dinner is served.”

"Well done, Maria. You really outdid yourself tonight." Emily praised, digging into the mouthwatering dish with everyone following suit.

The evening unfolded with effortless warmth and cheers with Gina being grateful that something had finally gone well at the end of the day.

But that wasn't the end of the day, was it?

Gina and Adams retired to their room after Gina had kicked Mia's ass. She freshened up and made to settle on the bed when her husband decided to pull another stunt.

“Please remain on your side of the bed. It's big enough to contain us both with a good distance. I can as well get a bigger one if you desire.” Adams said matter of factly and proceeded to lie on his supposed part of the bed.

“How long would this go on?” Gina asked herself. But did she really not know the answer? or she was just in denial.
