My head breaks the surface, and I gasp for air, trying to get my bearings. My vision is blurred as I swipe water from my eyes, hearing the sound of laughter echoing around me.

“It’s not funny!” I yell, my voice hoarse from the cold water and the rising lump in my throat.

But the laughter grows louder, more mocking. They think this is funny. Their faces are lit up with amusement, and my stomach twists with humiliation.

I start to swim towards the edge when suddenly, a sharp pain shoots through my neck. I cry out as I’m yanked backward, plunging under the water again. Panic floods me as I kick my legs, trying to push myself back up, gasping for air when I finally break the surface.

My heart races as I look to my right and see the guy who pulled me.

Sebastian.

His face is twisted in anger as his fingers move, seizing my throat with a force that sends waves of pain through me.

“I just called you pretty,” he sneers, his grip tightening. “And wanted to ask you to hang out with me. But you h

As I stand in front of the club, the same one where that bastard laid his hands on Emily, I can feel the rage boiling inside me. My fists clench, and it takes everything in me not to storm in there and tear the place apart. I can’t get the image out of my head—Emily, scared and vulnerable, being attacked by some random jerk who thought he could hurt her. Just thinking about it makes my blood burn with anger.Emily needed someone that night. She needed me. And I wasn’t there for her.I lied to her this morning. I told her I had some work to finish up. She probably thought it was something business-related, maybe another deal or some paperwork. But this, right here, is the real work. I couldn’t let this go. No way. That guy has to pay for what he did, and not in some small way. He deserves the worst, and I’m going to make sure he gets it.It wasn’t easy getting Emily to admit the name of the club. She hesitated, probably worried that I’d go off the rails. And she’s right—I am. But I had

I glance up at the clock, it’s already midnight and yet Zack hasn’t returned from the meeting he was talking about earlier. He told me it was urgent, so he called Keith to take care of me.He is doing a really great job; he served me meals, reminded me of my medicines, and even cleaned the whole house while I was lying in my bed the entire day. However, I’m feeling a little better.“It’s your turn, Emmy,” Keith says as he stares at his cards, rearranging them in his hands. We have been playing the card game on my bed for about two hours because I was getting bored. Lying all day and doing nothing.I glance at my cards and smile wide. “Gotcha!” I say, slapping my card on his. He raises an eyebrow but doesn’t seem too impressed.“Nice move,” he murmurs, laying his cards on the white sheet. We both are sitting crossed legs on the bed.“But this game isn’t over yet,” he smirks.I laugh a little. Keith is much more laid back than I expected, and it’s been kind of nice to have him around to

Kyren’s guard hands me a think file as we sit at the table, at one of the few restaurants where mafias feel comfortable. It’s a safe place for a deal like this, though I’ve come to trust no one in this world. Ever since Marcellus tried to invade my agency I have been wary, more cautious. I don’t trust anyone easily, especially not someone like Kyren.I flip open the file and start skimming through the pages. It’s all here, everything I expected.Weapons.Kyren is known for being one of the best on the market. It is expensive for sure but top-notch quality. I can’t fault the man for that.Six million dollars is what I’ve offered. A fair price for the kind of arsenal we’re talking about. As I glance over the inventory, I know this deal is necessary, but it doesn’t mean I have to like the guy.I’ve never been one for small talk or fake friendliness, especially not with people who know too well how much power I hold. They always want something from me, and I’m not interested in handing ov

I glance at myself in the mirror one last time, feeling a little flutter in my stomach.I’m wearing a scoop-neck olive green dress that hugs my body just right, paired with a simple black choker and black heels. I like how the outfit looks on me, and for a moment, I let a small smile slip across my face. I feel excited. Nervous, but in a good way. I’m meeting Zack tonight and I want to look my best.He was there for me when I was sick. It still feels strange to think about how much he did for me. zack is not exactly the type you’d imagine running around taking care of someone, especially not someone like me. But he did. He called a doctor when I needed one, and made sure Keith stayed with me to help while he was busy with his own work. I don’t even know how to thank him properly for all of it.That’s why I decided to visit him today. Tonight.I have taken another day off from the floral shop. Even though I’m feeling much better than yesterday. My fever is almost gone, and the dizzines

The limo comes to a stop near the marble ramp, and a guard opens the door for me as I step out.I sigh as I walk up the stairs and loosen my tie.It was incredibly boring sitting alone in the office, signing papers, deals, and checks. My wrist is hurting a little. I'm considering working from home for a few days instead of going to the agency. However, I might send Keith occasionally to ensure that everything is running smoothly at the agency and in our system.Besides, the most important thing was the deal of more arsenals, which has been done today. After the meeting when I arrived at the agency, Kyren told me on the call that the guns would arrive at my place the day after tomorrow but the large and the most expensive might be a few weeks.I stride into the entrance hall as the guards open the door for me.I look around and one of my servants comes into view, holding a glass of water in their hand.I take it and have a few sips.“Where’s Keith?” I ask as hand the glass back to him.

I feel the sun’s rays gently falling on my eyes as I slowly open them. Why do I feel so much more cozy in my bed? It’s softier.I slightly bury my face into the pillow. Please I don’t want to go to the shop today, even though I feel better.Anyway, my head rises from the pillow while I rub my eyes.“Ms Whites?”I look to my right. My eyebrows scrunch in confusion—a guy dressed in a uniform that normally a servant wears.White shirt with a high collar, black waistcoat, and black trousers.“Now that you're awake, what would you like for breakfast??” he asks.“Wha-” I pause and look around.I’m perched on a grand, round bed that feels almost luxurious, surrounded by imposing wardrobes seamlessly built into the wall. This bedroom is much larger than my own, giving it an airy and spacious feel. The windows stretch tall and wide, allowing streams of natural light to flood the room, while the floor beneath me boasts elegant marble that gleams softly in the sunlight. The dressing table is a s

The door is wide open as Keith and I stride inside the brightly lit room, my hands shoved into the pockets of my blue jeans. The room buzzes with people—cameras, crew members, and the audience filling their seats. My eyes scan the place carefully, and my footsteps are steady and deliberate as I move through the crowd.“Being here alone without security… I don’t like it, “ Keith mutters under his breath, which is clearly audible.I glance at him as a smirk tugs at the corner of my lips. “Relax, It’s not like anyone knows here who I am. To them, I’m just another guy in the audience.”Today, I wear a white shirt with jeans, while Keith is dressed in a black hoodie and baggy pants. We’re here disguised as normal people. He sighs. “Are you sure this is the only way to catch him?” His tone is edged with doubt.“It’s the cleanest way,” I reply. “No guards. No blood… not yet.”We reach our seats somewhere toward the middle of the rows. They’re simple cushioned chairs, far too comfortable for

Emily’s life is at risk as long as those lunatics are alive. Also, the terrible fact is they won’t stop searching for her until they find her. This thought had been roaming in my head all night, making me sleepless. Even though one of my men will look after her when I leave, I can’t shake off the feeling that some part of me is still afraid. Now, before they move on her, I need to stop them.In short, I need to unalive them all as soon as possible. At least before they inform about her to Marcellus.Emily has no idea what I went through when Keith told me that Marcellus’ men were after her. I was trying to keep myself together when deep inside I almost had a panic attack.“What are you doing?” the voice is very familiar.I turn around and find Emily standing at the doorframe in her black lace-trim cami top and jeans. She looks fresh.Yeah, I had to lift her in my arms and take her to bed since she was in a deep sleep.“Good morning, beautiful,” I smirk at her as she approaches me and

Emily lets out a painful hiss as I carefully stick the bandaid on the cut she has on her forehead.“There,” I murmur, cupping her face afterwards.I insisted a lot that I would call my personal doctor for her check-up, but she straight up refused. I didn't argue further because she looked fatigued.Seeing her in pain suffocates my soul. We’re in the living room right now. Me, her and Keith, obviously.“Now,” I begin, lifting her chin. Her enchanting amber-gold eyes stare into mine. “Tell me whatever happened. How did they come to know about you?”“They assume I’m your spy,” she shrugs. “Listen, Zack, I didn’t intend to spy on them but couldn’t help myself when I heard your name.”“Why did you go to that abandoned factory in the first place?” Keith questions as he slouches on the couch.“I didn’t,” Emily argues. “They were in an apartment. I had to deliver an order in the same building they were in.”“Do you remember the room no.?” I ask, holding her cold hands in mine. She looks at the

I glance at the little girl, who is settled in my lap comfortably yet scared. Her head rests against my chest as I hold her close to myself.“What is the child’s name?” the officer asks. My gaze shifts to him again. He looks like he is in his mid-twenties, holding a pen and sitting straight in his chair.I shake my head. “I don’t know.”He nods, understandably.Yes, I told the cop everything that I had been through, as well as everything that the little girl had been through.I have decided not to file a complaint against those mafia members. I'm not scared of them, but it would be pointless. They have so much power that they can control the police and make them do what they want. If I were to raise an issue, I’m worried they would start trouble with me, even though I haven’t done anything to them. It just feels safer to stay away from them and avoid any problems.I know they are still searching for me, but as far as I know, Zack will handle them himself once he comes to know what act

I drop the phone in my lap. A sob escapes from my lips. Now how will I get out of here? Those guys are searching everywhere for me. Probably. I don’t think they will quit until they stain their clothes with my blood. On the other hand, Zack’s phone is switched off.I think his phone battery must be dead. I'm pretty sure about this because there’s just no way he would keep his phone turned off. He is the kind of person who stays connected, especially with me even when he's in a significant meeting. He knows that I can call him at any time, and usually, he picks up the phone within just a few seconds. It’s unusual for him not to answer, which makes me believe that his phone must have run out of power. But right now he was my only hope and… now it’s gone too.But then, I pause.Wait… maybe there still is hope.Zack’s phone might have run out of battery but Keith’s?I quickly pick up my phone again and scroll through my contacts again.Keith.Keith.Please don’t disappoint me again.Got i

I open the factory door and get it, locking it from the inside.I pant. Sweat trickles down from my face as I stare at the door while simultaneously taking a few steps back. I turn around. This doesn’t look like an abandoned factory, however old.Thick solid walls, made of brown bricks. Rows of wide windows with metal frames. A high ceiling exposes a network of industrial piping.I glance down. The floors are concrete with visible wear, and stains from oil. Old, obsolete machinery stands in the corners, some are bolted to the floor. Metal pendant lights are hanging to the ceiling as I glance upwards. Only one of them is working.“There you are,” a familiar voice sneers behind me.I turn instantly. The guy with brunette hair is holding a pistol in his right hand.“There is nowhere else to go, blondie,” he smirks, but doesn’t aim at me.I don’t waste a second and run toward the rusted staircase, ascending as quickly as possible, hoping to escape, only to get caught by the bald guy at the

“So you do see a future with him, don’t you?” Lizzie speaks through the phone, clearly teasing me.“I don’t know,” I shrug as I tap my pen on the table while speaking to her. “He is involved with the mafia, Lizzie. He has enemies in every corner of the world, which means that even if I choose to spend the rest of my life with him, I will need to be cautious. Wherever I go, I will have security with me for my safety, and I won’t be able to do anything freely.”“But that doesn’t change the fact that you like him,” she giggles.I pause and let out a sigh. “I know.”I love Zack, but I can’t help feeling scared sometimes. He talked to me about one of his biggest enemies, a guy named Marcellus. Zack has explained how Marcellus is making plans to bring him down, which left me feeling anxious and worried about his safety.Because of this, I tried hard not to get too close to Zack. I thought that if something bad happened to him, it would be too much for me to handle. But despite my best effor

The hum of the monitors fills the room as I walk in, Keith trailing behind me. The dim light from the screens casts shadows on the walls. My men are already at their posts, eyes glued to the live feeds displayed across the dozens of screens. It’s a masterpiece of security, but right now, my focus isn’t on my empire—it’s on Marcellus. I take a seat in the centre of the room, Keith settling into the chair next to me. His expression is as serious as mine. “Switch the camera,” I order, my voice calm but firm. One of my men, a wiry guy named Nate, nods and starts tying away at the console. Within moments, the screen in front of me changes to a live feed of a meeting room. It’s a simple setup: a long table, a few chairs, and men scattered around, talking among themselves. I lean back in my chair, my fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. “Mute?” I ask, already knowing the answer. “Still muted,” Nate confirms. “Fix it,” I say, my tone sharper this time. He scrambles to adjust the feed

I step out of the car and narrow my brows.“Why didn’t you let me open the door for you?” Zack asks, sounding a bit upset.I turn around. “Why are we here?” I ask, changing the topic.Sometimes he acts like a stubborn baby. But only in front of me.He has stopped the car in a parking lot.“Uh…,” Zack walks around the car. I notice a red fabric he’s holding in his hands.“What is this now?” I point at it.“Turn around and close your eyes,” his tone sounds more like a command than a request. So I do as he says.He wraps the cloth around my eyes with a firm knot.“Zack,” I giggle as he holds my hands and escorts me somewhere. This proves how much faith I have in him; I can follow him wherever he leads me.After a while, he stops and then scoops me in his arm making me chuckle. “What are you up to, Zack?” I laugh. All of a sudden I hear the soft roar of the waves. Finally, he put me down and said, “Are you ready?”“Yeah,” I sound impatient. He unties the cloth and as it falls from my eyes
