"I do not want to go to this training academy mother. It's all the way from our pack to the neutral territory which is a 2 day trip in wolf form." I argue, hoping that they won't send me away.
Every werewolf at the age of 20 has to leave their pack to go and train under the 5 main elders of the werewolf community in Recrania. But I do not want to leave my pack.
"You should go and complete this training. You do not need to attend the warrior training. Just go to the academy. They will evaluate you in the first week and then advise you if you can learn the basic fighting skills or if you need to attend the warrior course," says my mother.
She just wants me to go out of this pack and explore different places, get trained thoroughly to win the beta position for our pack.
You see, my father is a beta of the pack but that does not mean that the title is going to be handed over to me on a golden plate.
No, I have to participate in a Beta Competition where all the interested pack members participate and fight to prove their physical ability to be the Alpha's second in command. Then the selected candidates also undergo an interview where his mental ability and decision-making ability is tested. This entire fiasco is what a person has to go through before attaining the title of the Beta of the pack.
But I do not want to be the Beta. I have my mate, the Alpha's son, and in no way am I going to handle both the beta and the Luna position. I don't understand why my parents insist for me to attend this so-called training.
"You do not really know whether Alpha Aztec is your mate. Just because you both like each other and have been fooling around that does not mean that he is your mate, Sierra," my mother says, effectively ruining my thoughts of Aztec.
'But mom, I know Aztec is my mate. He has not yet had his 21st birthday so we just need to wait till that day so that he can officially claim me as his mate," I reply back. I just want my parents to understand this. Even Aztec's parents do not think that we are mates.
"Sierra, you are turning into a spoiled brat. I never thought you would be so blinded with Aztec's looks and fake behavior. He has been gone for the training for a year. Never even once has he tried to contact you. I do not understand why you are so hung up on that boy," scolds my mother.
"Aztec is my mate and you will see it the day he returns on his 21st birthday which is next month. He must be busy with the training. It's a 3 year training for Alphas and a one year training for a normal wolf. I want to be here if Aztec comes to meet me on his 21st birthday. I'll be claimed as his mate and then we can start with our Alpha training together," I shout the last words angrily and start marching towards the door. I need some fresh air to escape all this negativity about Aztec being my mate.
Hearing the commotion, my father makes his entrance with a whiskey in his right hand and a document in his left hand.
Ihad always been a daddy's girl but ever since he has known about Aztec being my boyfriend, he has been distant from me. A cold shoulder treatment.
"What's going on here, sweetheart?"
"Our daughter's adamant behavior has started grating on my nerves now, Henry. I'm trying to explain to her the seriousness of the training for young wolves, but she as usual just wants to stay here and pretend to be the damsel in distress for the future Alpha of our pack." My mother sneers as she walks past me and stands beside my father.
They have always been my ideal mated couple. I want to have a similar bond with Aztec. I just hope that these negative opinions about Aztec and me doesn't jinx my mating with him.
"Your mother is right, Sierra. You should go and complete your training. Mate or not, Aztec can wait till you finish your training.", says my father and with that both my parents leave me alone with their decision looming over me like a dark cloud.
Hello Luna. Good morning, I hope I didn't disturb you. I need to talk to you regarding something, if you are free?" I ask her, still waiting for her permission to enter her office. After the argument with my parents, I decided to take this matter to the Luna where I will plead about my case.I hope she understands me.
"Hello, darling. Yes, I am quite sure about what you want to talk to me about. Come on in and have a seat. Just give me two minutes and then we can start with the matter regarding your training," replies Luna Jennifer gesturing at the chair in front of her desk in her office.
I take a seat in front of her and look around her office, the Luna's Office. The door to this office opens to its left and there is a window which allows the Luna to keep an eye on the school premises as she is the head of the school even if all the students are now grown up.
The Luna's seat is positioned in a way which allows her to see through the window as well to see who is entering her office giving her an added advantage. There is a couch behind my chair with a coffee table for the Luna's assistant to work and to take notes of any important meeting. I hope to be the assistant for the Luna but that is only possible if I am Aztec's mate and then only will I be given the Luna training by his mother.
The sound of someone clearing their throat brings me out of my thoughts and I see Luna Jennifer sitting in front of me giving me her full attention.
I clear my throat and move a non-existent strand of hair from my cheek in the hopes of calming my nerves and begin with my plea."Umm, Luna, you know about me and Aztec. That we think we are mates and that is the reason why I want to stay here till next month when its Aztec's birthday. He might come here to claim me as his mate and also to meet you all. I want to be here as you know the council elders do not allow a vacation to any wolf unless it is his/ her birthday or a pack emergency. When he comes here for his birthday, we can claim each other and then together go to the training territory to begin our training as the future pack leaders." I end my speech all the while anxious about her reaction to my plea. I cross my fingers in the hopes that she will grant me the permission to stay and then my parents will have to listen to her as she is the Luna of this pack and in-charge of all the civil disputes. The Luna just stares at me for a full five minutes before blinking and I guess
I wake up to the sound of my room's door being banged loudly by my mother. She is upset that I went to the Luna with our personal family dispute but then she was the one who was just adamant about me and Aztec not being mates and leaving me with no other option than to seek the Luna's advice."Wake up Sierra. The Alpha has called a pack meeting at 6 am before all the young wolves leave for the Neutral territory. You need to be present for it." Says my mother before leaving.frown thinking about this pack meeting. What would be the reason for such an emergency meeting? I did not know that there were other wolves joining me for the training. Great! Now I will have to deal with the other pack wolves whom I do not like. Being my classmates or rather my old friends who stopped talking to me because I am dating the Alpha's son, they never fail to pass snide remarks about me."Sierra, I thought you were awake. Get out of your bed and freshen up for your journey," my mom calls from the kitche
It is Sunday evening and we have reached the gates of the training territory. It is right in the middle of nowhere. There is a huge forest behind this training school and beyond this forest there seems to be endless mountain ranges. We are literally at the entrance, that is, we cannot see inside the training school. I wonder what happens in this training school. Do they brainwash us against the human societies? I chuckle at my own joke but hide it with a cough when Alexandria glares at me.We arrived here an hour ago but the guards kept us waiting saying that we would be granted permission only when someone comes to receive us from inside the training school. Sounds weird and creepy."Why are we told to wait here, uncle? Can't we wait inside where it would be a lot more comfortable rather than being observed like a bunch of guinea pigs by these guards?" whines Alexandria making me roll my eyes at her spoiled brat behaviour.'One of the elder's apprentice will come to receive you all
FENRIS"Good morning, warriors. I have called this meeting to inform you that we are receiving 6 new and probably the last generation of young wolves who will begin their warrior training from tomorrow. I expect you all to behave appropriately with these pups as they are new in this school and its rules, so no bullying around. Is that clear?" instructs Elder Aamruq to us apprentices."Yes Sir," we all reply together in a military-like tone."What do you think about these trainees?" asks my best friend Connor, sulking, and I know why he is asking about the trainees."You will know if you are going to find your mate, Lupe. According to what elder Raoul said our wolves recognise the presence of our mate before us. So, if your mate is one of these trainees, then your wolf must have definitely been anxious. Is it?" ask him."I don't know. My wolf is always sulking nowadays. Everybody here says that the number of mating has decreased due to lack of new births. I have started thinking that m
FENRISI stealthily enter the library avoiding any passer-by wolves to focus on the task at hand. The librarian is sitting at her usual desk filing in the regular entries and book deliveries. I greet her and go sit on my usual spot. Taking a random book, I try to look engrossed in it as much as my acting skills support me.There are 2 wolves, Lycidas and Caliana sitting in the far corner of the library, all cozy and cuddling. I quickly turn away from them to avoid interrupting their alone time as well as to stop yearning about being with my mate."Soon, Fenris, soon you will be with your mate!" I chastise myself. I should stop thinking about her for 2 minutes to finish this simple work at hand.I try to sense the emotions around myself. I have three people around me and every single one of them seems to be doing their own thing with no care about me.That's good. Very good. I can enter the Archive and get what I want and exit without being seen by anyone. I quickly move to one of the
SIERRAThe blaring alarm wakes me up from my sleep. I did not sleep well at all. The entire night I dreamt about a black wolf with dark blue eyes. The blue eyes felt very familiar but I am sure that I do not know who that black wolf was. That's the reason why I kept waking up in the middle of the night. If I come across this werewolf, I am surely going to have his head on a platter for destroying my beauty sleep. Because of him I am going to look so ugly on the first day of my training.I look around myself. I am on my bed in the room I now share with my roomie. She is not here meaning she must be in her training. She sure is weird. The entire time I was with Aztec last night, she and her brother were constantly poking in their heads to stop us from having some alone time. I desperately needed it. I will deal with her later. Right now, I need to focus on looking at least a little bit presentable for my first day of training.I take a quick shower and dress in the uniform given to each
SIERRA"That means, you recognise me. Right, my mate?", he asks and that question wakes me up from my daze."WHAT?""All these sparks we feel whenever we touch skin on skin is the first indication of us being mates. It's okay to be surprised," says Fenris twirling the stray strand of my hair, completely forgetting the fact that my expression screams shock and not surprise."No .. No .. Sir. You are mistaken. I am not your mate. I cannot be your mate. I do not feel the mate bond." I say getting angry at this person who is trying to take advantage of me. I quickly move out of his grasp. He doesn't say anything so I look up to see what's got his tongue tied when he realises that his attempt of fooling me is failing. He has a frown on his face and appears to be deep in thought.Out of nowhere I feel like I should do something to erase that look from his face. I unconsciously reach out to touch the frown line on his face but quickly snap out of my daze and take a step back away from him.
SIERRA"Hey, what do you want on your birthday?" I ask Aztec. We are sitting in the dining hall having dinner. So far, dinner is the only time where I enjoy being in this training school. I get to meet Aztec here and be away from the prying eyes of a particular apprentice."As long as I have the chances of meeting my mate on my birthday, I do not wish for any other gifts," he says having a dreamy look on his face.My heart swells with the love I have for him. He thinks so highly of his mate. He would be so delighted to find that we are true mates. I am not a seer but I have the gut feeling that something life changing is going to happen on his birthday. I can't wait to see his expression when he finds out.It has been a week since that freaky incident. Since then, Fenris has kept out of my business. I find him staring at me occasionally but apart from that, I haven't seen him much. It's a huge relief that I haven't seen him in the dining hall especially because I get to meet Aztec onl
FENRISI am flipping the pancake carefully making sure that it becomes golden brown and doesn't burn when Sierra's loud scream echoes in the house. Her thought projections are all chaotic and I can sense only panic and fear.Almost throwing the pan in my hands, I quickly shut the burner and climb up the stairs two at a time to our pup's room from where I can hear my mate's chaotic thoughts. Throwing open the door, I look around for threats but find none. Sierra's gaze is wild with fear and tears are running down her cheeks as she stares at the crib in which our new born is sleeping soundly."What's wrong," I whisper walking towards her and wiping away her tears, not wanting to wake up the pup. She's too sensitive to even the smallest of sounds."She's not here. She wasn't there when I came in here to check in on her," my mate screams, waking up our daughter who immediately starts crying."She's here, Sierra. She's in the crib," I pick up our little Kotyonok and take her to Sierra who'
SIERRA"On behalf of our prince, I, Elder Alarick hereby declare Luna Aurora's son, Connor Lupe as the new Alpha of Blue Moon Pack. Conan Lupe was the one to break the mate bond, therefore, losing his position as the Alpha but his mate will still be their pack's unofficial Luna till Alpha Connor finds his mate."I watch as Connor makes a cut in his palm and lets it mix with all the five elders' blood, forming a new bond, an Alpha bond. Then he mixes his blood with Fenris's to strengthen his bond with the future Alpha King of Recrania.I am once again seated between Christine and my mom watching my mate perform all those rituals. I am restless. I want to claim him, now.As if listening to my prayers, Elder Alarick motions for all the Alphas to come forward and then tells Fenris to get me. I quickly stand up and meet Fenris halfway not at all deterred by a few chuckles and whispering.Fenris smiles at my excitement, his own shining in his eyes and I put my hand in his as we walk togethe
SIERRAI try to hear what my mate's saying but am distracted by his appearance and his voice. I am literally swooning in my seat watching Fenris address his people before beginning the elders' selection. I had a case of jittery legs so I requested to sit and watch him instead of standing beside him. I'll be up there with him during the ascension ceremony but for now, I want to watch him and let him be known as the Alpha of his future pack.My morning sickness attacks me unexpectedly and I am pretty sure that everyone around me is keeping their distance because they don't want the risk of being puked upon. Apparently, only my scent can be hidden, not the symptoms.I have the front row seat, being the Alpha Prince's mate. My parents are beside me on one side whereas Christine is on my other side and Yuki and Randale beside Christine. All the Alphas have been given the second-row seats with their children sitting in the third-row seats. The people from Crimson Shadow are seated in the ro
SIERRAI try hard, very hard to not be afraid of Alpha Conan but I can't help it when he's standing at my door with a murderous look on his face demanding to meet my mate and cursing like a mad man. Well, a mad man he is!"Be careful, Alpha Conan. You shouldn't disrespect the future Queen of Recrania," growls Fenris, making me jump. Alpha Conan looks over my shoulder at Fenris who walks angrily towards me, literally lifting me and putting me behind him. I clutch on his t-shirt which is becoming wet from the water dripping from his hair, no doubt he heard Alpha Conan's cursing from the bathroom while showering."She's not the queen yet neither are you the King. In fact, you and your horde of elders are not at all capable of ruling a country as big as Recrania. With only two elders by your side you cannot stop me from marrying off my daughter to the Alpha King of Abros."Fenris growls and takes a step forward but I hold his shirt, feeling my anger rise at how carelessly he has disregard
FENRISI pace in elder Alarick's office desperately wanting to go back home and in my mate's arms and not deal with this problem. Since the day she woke up, I can't help myself, I crave her presence. It's not the fact that she's carrying my child that I crave her presence but more like her kidnapping has made me paranoid. I can't even for a second imagine my life without her in it but when I was summoned by elder Alarick because I refused to go to him, I was pushed out of the house by the same mate."Let's not actively look out for Alexandria. Let her think that we don't care and that we've forgotten about her," I suggest elder Alarick even when I don't understand how she managed to get out of her prison. She's no doubt had some help and that too from someone in the school."That's alright. She might even lead us to her master. Just put a spy on her," he says and I nod my agreement. I have many people who would fit in the category of a spy, I smirk mentally."You need to claim the Alp
SIERRA"What?" he growls and then pulls me up by my arm gently yet firmly and pulls me close so that our chests are touching. My nipples harden at the feel of his hard chest. My body always betrays me! Here, I am trying to have a serious conversation but my body is busy preparing itself for her mate's touch. How gross is it? Pathetic even."Tell me, mate and this time take a pause in between," he whispers in my ears no doubt noticing my body's response to his touch. My suspicions are confirmed when he nibbles on my ears. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, letting his scent into my body before preparing myself to speak."Do you think of me as a power-hungry mate?" I ask finally not actually knowing of how he will react. He let's go of me completely and I sway for a moment not at all expecting this reaction from him. My fears are confirmed. He does think of me like that. Oh, no! What am I going to do?"I think you should rest for some time. Are you not feeling well?" he asks comple
SIERRA"By the time we reached the school territory, elder Ernouf had also passed away. Since then, all the wolves present here are in mourning. We haven't begun classes or any other regular activities or meetings. It has all come to a standstill," says Fenris. We are sitting on the couch in the living room where Fenris is telling me all those things that I missed during my sleep. He told me how Dominic and he had become friends and that his presence was what kept them away. I am grateful for his presence even if he was a prisoner and I wouldn't wish that life on anyone but because of him, my worst nightmare was avoided."Who poisoned elder Ernouf's food?" I ask fiddling with Fenris's hair which is in serious need of a haircut. He has now shaved his beard and I get more of his face to kiss and smother."I don't know. When I reached here, you were all skeleton and your recovery was my priority. Elder Alarick says that someone close that is a wolf with authority poisoned him as earlier
SIERRAIt's too warm, I think as I wake up. Turning my head, I bump my nose directly into the source of the warmness and see that it's the chest of my huge mate who's wrapped around me like a wise, protecting me even in his sleep, making sure that I don't go anywhere, as if I would want to be anywhere else.Never.I came very close to lose everything. My mate and our pup, I almost lost them because of Xavier and I can't thank the Goddess enough for sending my mate there when she did.I nuzzle my nose in his chest and he stirs rolling to lie on his back and pulling me with him. Now I am the one draped over him and I fully intend to take advantage of it. I lift my face over his chest and take in my mate's sleeping form. He looks relieved, less tired. The shadows under his eyes have vanished and his face looks serene even with all that beard covering his face.I let my gaze roam over his neck, his chest and shoulders checking for myself that he's fine. The memory of his skin burning afte
SIERRAA loud buzzing noise disturbs my sleep, forcing me to open my eyes. It's dark and for one moment, the horrible thought that Xavier caught me again and imprisoned me invades my mind. Only, the familiar scent of my mate keeps the hysteria at bay.Slowly, the images of Fenris killing Xavier and then carrying me to some car, giving me hot water and then falling asleep, enter my mind. I fell asleep. Oh yes, and it was the best sleep I've had in a long time."Shut up, Fenris. She's awake," someone says loudly and a growl slips from my throat. It's too loud for my ears.Looking around, I search for my mate knowing that he's here with me but my brain doesn't co-operate with me. I feel stiff and heavy. My body feels heavy as if I am suffering from a hangover. He notices my discomfort, perhaps, as he leans over my body and soon, his face comes into my view. I find his wide cobalt blue gaze. There are shadows beneath his eyes no doubt from worrying about me. He has a beard. Oh my! He look
