SELENA'S POV
The sun rays escaped the guarding of the curtains and trickled on my face causing me to stir awake, turning and tossing on the huge comfy bed. I sat up and glared at the curtains for not doing its job properly. I wasn't a morning person and I hated the sun. Jace wasn't in the room... great! You scared him away with your blabbing. I just hope he didn't hear me confessing my undying love for Lee Yeon in my sleep. Cause that would be embarrassing. I pulled the covers off the legs and stood up from the bed. I pulled my hair into a messy bun and reached for the door when.. "JACEEE!!!!" It was a scream of a lady and she did not sound happy. I pondered for a while if I should check it out or not. No...I have to go, I can't let my husband get murdered on the second day of marriage by who knows who. Yah..I know what I said. I went out of the room and crept into the hallway but stopped by the entrance of the living room to peep. What? I needed to be sure if he was actually getting murdered so I could have time to runaway...I have so much to live for. Number one, my mom. Number two, Lee Dong Wook. Number three, Lee Dong Wook. Number four, many other Korean actors that I couldn't mention right now. I stared into the living room from my hiding spot to see a beautiful young lady. She looked a few years older than me. She had wavy brown hair with blonde highlights that rested on her shoulders. Her hazel eyes searched the place with so much vigour. She held a suitcase in one hand and a coat in another. "Ah..shit", came a voice from behind me causing me to jump a little. It was Jace standing me in a tank top and sweatpants with his hands in his pockets. His beautiful auburn hair was messy but still looked gorgeous. He walked past me to meet the lady. "What is it?", he muttered making her turn to him but she just glares at him. "What took you so long?" "How do you know the passcode to my house?", he pointed at the front door in confusion before walking towards it as if the answer was somehow there. The lady ignored him and continued talking, "I'm so sorry I missed your wedding, my flight got a little delayed", she explained. "So where is she?", she questioned Jace. "Where's who?" I also wanted to know. "The girl you have been constantly yapping about.....even before the wedding. Where is she? I want to see if she's even more beautiful than you describe" I was lost....who? Jace glanced at me, still hiding before scratching the back of his neck nervously at what, whoever she was, said. As I expected, she followed his gaze and saw me then gasped. Busted. Jace walked over to me and placed both hands on my shoulders then pushed me gently out of my hiding spot. "Selena, meet my annoying big sister, Noah", he said standing behind me. "Noah.. Selena" His deep voice made a small shiver run down my spine. "Um..hi", I said and waved awkwardly like the socially awkward potato that I am. I felt a hand in my hair then my hair fell, running down my back, some landing on my shoulders. I turned to look at Jace but he wasn't looking at me, he had a smirk on his face. "Always let it down...it looks better that way", he whispered in my ear. Another shiver. What was his problem with my hair being up anyways. "Jace, you fucked up liar", Noah spat. "Ouch?..", Jace muttered. "She is even more perfect than you described", Noah stared at me. "I love her" What is going on. "She is, isn't she?", I felt Jace's eyes on the back of my head. They were just talking as if I wasn't there. "And look at her hair", Noah moved her hands towards it. I'm standing right here guys. "Don't touch it", Jace said but earned an eye roll from her. Noah rolled her suitcase over to Jace and threw her coat on his face then pulled me closer to herself. "Okay, rude... and I'm pretty sure you know the way to the guestroom", Jace fussed but Noah ignored him. I think I might like her. She sat me down on one of the sofas and stared at me then said, "Tell me all about yourself" I gulped. ... Jace went to work a few minutes later after glaring at his sister while drinking his coffee; and Noah also left saying that she had to visit her father and catch up with a few friends. While I'm stuck in this large house like the lonely potato; I've always been, doing nothing. Well, I probably should make most of my time because I had a feeling I was gonna be getting a lot of these days. I grabbed my laptop and slid into the shockingly large bed getting ready to meet my lover that I hadn't seen in days when it hit me. I mentally slapped myself over and over again as I lazily got up from the bed. I had a certain bitch to visit because she had to live up to her own part of the bargain. I did what she wanted by getting married to the guy that she rejected who turned out to be very attractive by the way. The one I called cake. Selena Noted. No traveling...got it. I quickly took a shower and got dressed before leaving the house. I put in the passcode and locked the door behind me. Jace had told me the passcode earlier after getting my phone number, telling me to hold on to it as he was soon going to get someone to input my fingerprints into the system. After finally getting off the insanely tall building, I took a cab to the Marano mansion. I'm so happy to finally rid myself of that surname. I was now a Southerland. Southerland...I liked how that easily rolled off my tongue. Selena Southerland. I have to say I wasn't expecting anything of this, starting from the marriage, my incredibly attractive husband, everything. Jace is really sweet and nice to me..at least for now. Who knows if he's just hiding his true colours. I know I sound very insecure right now but that's just how it has always been for me. I meet people, they stay, I get attached, they leave. Story of my life. Who knows if he would find someone else later on because after all this was an arranged marriage. I guess my sense of reasoning is coming from what transpired between my mom and my...dad. And a part of me really hopes that Jace is different. I just have to be careful not to fall to hard for him because Lee Dong Wook won't be too happy 'bout that. Hihi. Sorry, I know I sound like a crazed stalker... which I kinda am. "We're here miss", the cab driver said jolting me out of my delusional thoughts. "Thank you", I said as I handed him the money and got out. I stalked over to their front door and rang the doorbell. Some seconds later, I heard the shuffling of feets then maid opened the door, smiling at me. "Um..hi", I gave her a small wave. "I'm here to meet Adelaide" "She's out by the pool" "Thank you", I said and went on to find her. I practically knew everywhere in the house since it was once mine. Don't go there Selena. Don't go there. I went out back to the pool and as the maid said, Adelaide was there lying on a lounger with sunglasses and a hat. You know..the whole beach look. I walked over and stood by where she laid, casting a shadow over her. She took off her sunglasses and glared at me. "What do you want loser?", she said after putting the glasses back on. But before I answered, she looked me up and down as if she was taking in my appearance. "You're a married woman now sweetie... you can't keep dressing like a lost and found box", she scoffed as I stared down at my jeans. "But I'm guessing you're husband doesn't differ either" She snickered and I rolled my eyes. If only she saw the perfectly tailored suit that he had one this morning making me wonder what he did for a living. "I've done my own part of the bargain, it's time for you to do yours", I said and she smirked. "That's a really cute way to beg for money Selena" What?! Beg for money? Okay...I might be but did she have to be such a bitch. Ignore it. "Oh come on...I told the doctor to give me one week" "Well jokes on him, cos' he won't be seeing that money" She didn't just... did she? This time she sat up and removed her glasses, folding it and dropping it on the stool beside her. "Deal's off, Selena" "What do you mean the deal's off?" "As in..the deal is off" I palmed my forehead and paced up and down a little ignoring the contented smile that Adelaide had on her face. She tricked me. This is what I get for putting my faith on a Marano. Boy..I'm I glad to finally get rid of the name. "Awwn...this looks bad", she kept a fake sad face. "That's how life is... it's either you play or get played" I wasn't listening to any bullshit anymore. I dug my nails into the side of my purse to stop myself to jumping on top of her and strangling her as I quickly walked out of the house. I can't believe I got married to someone I barely know just because I had faith that I could save my mother and I swallowed my pride went back to seek help from the people that I despise the most only to get played like a fool. Maybe I was one. Now.. what I'm I going to do.SELENA'S POV I was pissed. Why? Why? Because Adelaide is a fucking two-faced snake. What does she mean by the deal is off? I got married to a man that I barely know from the moon just because I had some iota of faith that I could save my mother only to be played by a diva. Urghh....the thought of it still annoys me. That wrench. God knows how I really wanted to jump on her and plunge my nails into her face... but I didn't want to make her bleed...again. Now, I'm doing a mental battle with my brain to come up with a reasonable way to convince the doctor to give me more time. Well it's not like I can just walk into the doctor's office and be like " Wassup doc... so here's the thing..um I was supposed to get the money for the treatment after I got married to this super incredibly attractive guy and my sister who was supposed to give me the money doesn't want to give me the money.. can you imagine that?..I'm sure you can't. Great, so imma need more time.. okay good talk" Or may
Here's your change, sir", Selena smiled sweetly at the customer as she handed him his cup of coffee. This was her second week of working at the café and she must say she was loving it. The work place was neat and conducive unlike her old job. Her colleagues were also very nice.Sometimes it got tough when customers acted very rude but she didn't mind, after all, she wasn't expecting a bed of roses.SELENA'S POVI was about to head inside for my lunch break; a piece of momma's beautiful red velvet cake when this piece of eye candy walked over to the counter.I think I just found another piece of cake.Behave yourself, Selena.I couldn't describe his beauty. Sylvia sat on a stool by the island of her kitchen while stirring the cup of tea in her hands. Her head jerked up, her attention drifted from the cup in her hands as she heard the door bell ring. The maid who was in the kitchen with her left to check who was at the door and returned shortly. "Who was at the door, Jess?", Sylvia asked not looking up from her cup. "It was Miss Marano, ma'am", the maid replied fiddling with her fingers nervously. "Wasn't my daughter at home?" "No... I mean...it's not your daughter" Sylvia's head jerked up, this time aggressively. "It's the older miss, she.....", the maid didn't get to finish what she was saying because her boss stormed off. Sylvia walked into her living room, a livid look on her face as she spotted her step daughter sitting down on a chair engrossed in a conversation with her father. She made her heels click loudly on the tiles to announce her presence as she went to have a seat beside her husband. "Well, if
SELENA'S POV I ran my hand in my hair as the elevator door closed shut in front of me. What was I going to do now? I had no other place I could go to. I didn't have friends because I don't like people. It was times like this that I cursed my introverted life. I had gone to the bank but they refused to give me a loan because I had been getting a lot of those and I have a huge debt on my hands. I sighed loudly as I fought to keep my eyes open. After my meet with the Maranos the previous night; no relation, I had gone to several places with the hope of being hired even if it was for a short period of time so I could pay for the bill by installments. The elevator door opened to the floor where my mom's room was situated at. I sighed again and walked out, dragging my feet as I made my way to my mom's room. On reaching the door, I opened it but was almost pushed down by a frantic looking nurse who ran out of the room. Weird. I opened the door again but was met with a couple of nurses
JACE'S POV "Mr. Southerland, it's time for your appointment with Mr. Guillaume", my secretary, Reece informed me before he walked out of my office. Taking a deep breath, I slouched into my seat before getting up. I stood and looked at the city from the glass walls of my office. My phone rang on the table causing me squint my eyes at it before picking it up and looking at the Caller ID: HIM was written on it. I still regretted my choice of him having a way to contact me. I picked up the call and put it on speaker before placing it on table. "What is it?" I said as I placed my hands in my pockets before staring outside again. "Aren't you supposed to be here by now", came the ragged voice of the man I choose not to call father. "I'll be there", I said and ended the call. Grabbing my keys, I carried my coat and left the office telling my secretary to cancel my remaining appointments for the day. Mr. Guillaume had been my father up until I was twelve years old before
SELENA'S POV "Do you Jace Southerland, take this woman to to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and com......", the priest started but was interrupted. "I do", I think, if I heard well, his name is Jace said. Well, someone's a little impatient. It made me want to smile a little. "Well...", the priest cleared his throat. "Do you Selena Marano take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love him, to honour him and comfort for as long as you both shall live. Till death do you part?" "I do", I said. Well, it's not like I had a choice. The priest exhaled with a smile and muttered those words that I had been afraid of from the start. "You may kiss the bride" Okay, where's Lee Dong Wook when you need him. I had imagine him coming to rescue me but no such luck. I looked up at the man standing infront of me through my lashes. I was a bit nervous okay? In my defense, I have never been in this type of position before and I have every reason to feel this way which
