90 - Everyone's a suspect

We were at the airport in a private room, waiting for Ryan's private jet to be ready so we could finally leave. The last two days, at least until five hours ago, were so wonderful. Just when we were finally getting along... those damn photos appeared, showing us that we are nowhere near safe.

Never a moment of perfect peace, right?

I looked in a mirror, trying not to break down. I don't know how to feel right now. Do I want to be strong? Am I strong?

We were so good, two magical nights. In a small paradise made just for the two of us.

I looked at the small bruises, now purple, on my arms, painting my skin like a canvas. I rolled down the sleeves of my shirt to cover them and sighed, feeling the weight falling on me again. The same weight I wanted to lift when I agreed to come on this last-minute trip.

And now happiness feels like a grain of sand on a beach.
