The chilly autumn wind cuts across my cheeks as soon as I step outside the company. Honestly, I don't know what my mother's aim is with this urgent meeting she decided to schedule during lunch. I walk through the parking lot to my car; the afternoon is starting to get cold, as if rain is approaching, and the traffic in Rookgaard is hell during rain.

I hurry on my way to the restaurant. Morgana still hadn't called me about the conversation she was going to have with Lindsay at the police station, and I felt the anguish growing inside my bones. I know I've done the best to protect her life, but I can't help but feel this way.

I stare at the red light with a growing tightness in my chest. I hope I'll feel better when she gives me some sign. If something had happened, Tyron would have called, wouldn't he?

I arrived at La Buena Vista a few minutes early. Nick is here today and opens a wide smile when he spots me from the lobby.
