Chapter 4

Raven was cursing the man she was dancing with, to no end at the back of her head. She was livid, but she has to play along.

Kai's tantalizing eyes met hers. He's clearly enjoying the moment and Raven is not sure if he's s just a great actor or he's genuine but she never let her guards down. 

They moved in sync as they were following a certain rhythm that's matching the song that's swirling around. Kai narrowed their distance even more and he stared deep into her soul. His stares were full of amusement and Raven  had to look away because she felt a bit uncomfortable. 

That made Kai laugh, "shy?" He asked, clearly trying to tease her.  

Raven had to gather all her strength to face Kai again, "who wouldn't be señorito?," she's sure she's blushing at that moment and her ears must be beet red so there's no sense denying it. "Your stares were electrifying." 

She was trying to sound alluring but Kai found her adorable instead. Kai has a crooked smile twitching at the corners of his mouth, "I'm glad you're electrified," he whispered. 

"Are you really this flirty?"

Kai shooked his head lightly, "only to you." 

"Why am I not convinced? Seems like you're a pro in flirting."

The man in front of her just cheekily laughed. "Alright, I practiced before." He admitted, "but I was just readying myself so I can use it to you." 

Raven laughed by the way he defended himself immediately. Then she turned serious, "me?" She asked naively. 

"This is our second meeting, tell me–" she trailed and leaned her head on his broad shoulders. "Was our meeting really just a coincidence?" 

She was contemplating when she felt him stiffened to her question. Raven was staring at Kai's neck in front of her, she wants to hurt him in any ways she can. At that moment, she was even thinking of stabbing him till he kneel down and beg. 

"Because it seems like we're meant for each other," she continued. She didn't wait for him to answer. "Destiny was trying to glue us together, I guess" she concluded. 

Kai went back to breathing evenly after that. 

'Are you nervous Kai?,' she wants to smile mischievously but she stopped when Kai held her shoulders and pushed her lightly to see her. 

He stared directly to her eyes, "I have to confess something," his head hung low but when he lit his face up there was still a small smile arched in his lips.

"It isn't a coincidence." 

Raven eyes widen as she was taken aback by the sudden confession. 'Is he trying to be honest now?'

"I've known you for a long time and I've been observing you my señorita"

Raven's brows were tied to a knot. She wasn't expecting honesty from the man in front of her. All she was expecting was  tricks under his sleeves. 

"Raven, I like you..." That was a line above a whisper. 

Raven doesn't want to buy it. She wants to think it's just a game he wants to play with her. But her thoughts stopped when she saw sincerity in depth of his eyes. 

Raven couldn't contain what she feels anymore. She feels something in her stomach. It's reacting to Kai's gestures and words so she distanced herself slowly. 

"Excuse me," she pulled herself out but she gave him a reassuring smile which Kai has gently returned. "I'll go to the comfort room, I will get back to you." 

Kai didn't even interjected to her walking out, he just let her like he understand how she feels.

'But he does not!'

Raven was shocked but at the same time, irritated. How can that man ever understand her after everything that has happened? She took advantage of her time walking towards the comfort room to vent out her frustrations. 

She has to remind herself again and again why she hated that man in the first place. Why did she suddenly loathe Kai when she even found him attractive the moment her eyes laid on him. 

Kai is a son of a bastard who did something terrible. Too terrible that she did her best to just forget it and move on because she knows she doesn't stand a chance fighting the 'Sage' oligarchy. 

But here she is, she just danced with Kai. And he told her he likes her!

Her thoughts were all dismissed when a strong set of arms suddenly held her. She was ready to fight when she realized who that is, it's non other than Zarek. 

He dragged Raven to the parking lot and Raven just let him. By the brute force he's using to her, it's obvious to Raven that Zarek was close to loosing his shit. 

He turned her to face him, "our mission is complete, we should go back now." He's voice was firm. 

Raven didn't waver, "No. I have to go back there. I need to do something." There's finality in her voice and Zarek knew so well how stubborn Raven can get so he gave her an ultimatum. 

"Say what you want to say and get back here within ten minutes." He said and then he left her a warning, "If you don't, I'm gonna take you in front of him. I don't care what he thinks." 

Raven smirked, Zarek seems to be learning now how to deal with her tenacity. She winked at him before leaving him to go back inside the bar. 

She didn't had a hard time finding Kai. Raven quickly saw him leaning his back at the countertop while drinking beer. He was alone and he looks so serious while staring blankly at nowhere. 

"Hey," she approached him. 

Kai promptly turned to her, as if he's shock to see her again, "I thought you already left me."

"Almost," she snorted. "Can I have your phone?" she asked.

Although Kai was adamant, he still handed his phone, curious to what Raven will do. 

When Raven gave his phone back, Kai read what she just typed. It was an address and a phone number. "You better contact me señorito," she smiled. 

"I'll be waiting."

Kai nodded, a sly smile was dancing in his lips. 

After that, Raven left the bar with Zarek. She followed the ten minutes rule like he wanted. 

While on the road, she was clearly spacing out. Her mind was still filled with thoughts. 'I'll make you pay Kai, I'll kill you with my bare hands.' her eyes were sharp and her jaw was clenching. She knows Zarek was also mad for some reason but he's still checking on her from time to time as he kept looking through the rearview mirror, which she ignored. 

'I'll play with you first.'

She was already planning her next course of action when she got back to her condo but she never anticipated what will happen the next day...

Raven found a man outside her door, lying unconscious. 

That man is Kai.
