As she stood at the entrance of the elevator, Zoey stared blankly at Laurence with a somewhat bewildered expression on her face.

The light from the hallway fell evenly on his shoulders and shone on his beautiful face.

The way he looked in the light made her feel like she was dreaming.

Zoey's heart was thumping so wildly that it felt like it was about to burst out of her chest. Her hands tightened around the bag in her hand as she slowly started to move towards him, almost as if she were afraid of breaking this beautiful dream of hers. "What are you doing here?" she asked softly.

For a moment, she actually thought that she was dreaming.

Husband...

The word just sounded so foreign to her, especially when it came out of Laurence Scott's own mouth.

This kind of ordinary and cozy life was something she'd always dreamed about.

Laurence then lifted the plastic bag in her hands with one hand and raised an eyebrow. "You refused to come over to my place, so I had to come here instead."
