CHAPTER 16
Alicia skulked around like a thief. She followed Amanda's trail in secret, like a secret agent. Every now and then Alicia looked around, worried if anyone else had seen her behaving in such an unusual way.
So far, Alicia saw that Amanda was indeed going to the toilet. The girl had covered her clothes with a denim jacket, so she was conspicuous. The direction Amanda was walking was indeed to the public restroom in the dormitory. But from her walking position, Alicia could see that Amanda was busy playing with the cell phone in her hand. Every now and then Amanda looked down, looked at the phone screen, and then refocused on the road in front of her. Was Amanda texting someone?
Alicia was still walking behind Amanda with careful steps, when Amanda suddenly stopped.
Amanda let out a long breath, then put the cell phone in her jacket pocket. Alicia tried to hide out of sight, but her movements were too slow. Amanda turned around and raised one eyebrow as she looked at Alicia's panicked face. "What are you looking for, Alicia?" she asked to the point. "You followed me, didn't you?"
Suddenly, Alicia who had been following her turned nervous. Alicia was stunned. She didn't expect Amanda to notice her movements this quickly. Amanda would either misunderstand, thinking that Alicia was going to do something bad to her, or Amanda would think that Alicia was the real stalker.
Alicia cleared her throat and stuffed her hands into her skirt pockets before finally saying, "I, I'm going to..." Alicia suddenly realized something. "Hey! How do you know my name? We don't even know each other yet."
Alicia's high voice instantly echoed in the empty main hallway. There were only the two of them there. Their distance, estimated to be less than a meter, did not prevent Alicia from seeing Amanda's flat face that implied dislike with both hands folded on her chest. Amanda didn't seem to care about Alicia's question, she gave a short snort and spoke up again,
"What are you following me for?" Amanda changed the subject. She asked the question first, it should have been answered first.
Alicia shook her head quickly, she tried to refute. "I'm not following you. I'm just going to the restroom." Alicia pointed ahead. "The restroom is over there, isn't it?"
Amanda raised one eyebrow. "It turns out Elena was right," then smiled wryly. "You're a threat."
"What do you mean?" not accepting being labeled a threat so clearly by Amanda, Alicia inched closer and stared intently at her. "What do you mean by a threat? I'm not a criminal or anything like that, you can't just pass judgment like that!"
"Being a new student who is suddenly close to a detective and the son of the dormitory owner." Amanda chuckled in annoyance. "You think you're good, huh?!"
Alicia rounded her eyes. Now she realized that there were many things she didn't know in this dormitory. And the fact that Amanda was antipathetic to her was due to jealousy. Amanda didn't shy away for fear of being caught as the perpetrator. But is Amanda not James' killer?
"I didn't intend to," Alicia muttered. She looked away for a moment, then back at Amanda who was still staring at her. "Besides, I don't care about love affairs. There's something more important here."
"Do you know how much effort I put into getting close to Ace! I was even willing to lower my self-esteem just to sit at the same table with him!" Amanda said in a half-squeal. She then chuckled scornfully. "But you suddenly came and caught his attention that easily. You don't even care you say, do you feel so great now?" Amanda began to shed tears, "ARE YOU HAPPY BECAUSE YOUR COMPANION, ELENA, IS GONE NOW?!" Amanda laughed bitterly. "In this world, we will always be inferior to those with perfect physiques. Isn't it?"
Alicia shook her head weakly. "But you don't have any physical defects either," she said, trying to calm Amanda down. "I don't understand why you have to be this angry just because I'm close to Ace."
Amanda spluttered. "You'll never understand if you don't feel it." she then turned around, her back to Alicia's frowning face. "You'll never know what it's like to lose twice to the same person, will you?"
Eh? Twice? What does that mean?
The brunette girl was then about to walk away from the hallway. Until quickly, Alicia's voice managed to prevent her from taking a step. "Greenie!"
Amanda froze when she heard Alicia call her by her last name, she stood up without turning her body to Alicia.
Then, Alicia continued, "Have we met before?"
While behind her body, Amanda gave a small grin and shook her head. This made Alicia feel even stranger about it. "But you said... Twice?" Alicia said half forcefully. "This is the first time I've met you, why are you saying it as if it's our next time?"
Amanda said, "Try to improve your memory, Alicia. Maybe you'll find the answer," she said flatly, then her sneaker-clad feet took a step forward and stopped again. "Ah, yes, don't call me that again. I don't like the Greenie after my name." Amanda cleared her throat softly. "It reminds me of someone from the past."
Amanda then stepped away from him in the main hallway. Lost in thought alone. Wrapped in her own thoughts. How could Amanda know about my memory problems, Alicia wondered. Even she has been going through this difficult time for years after the incident. Amanda must know something.
Alicia muttered, "How did she know about my memory problems?" and looked at the CCTV in the corner of the hallway for a long time.
Until suddenly, a thought occurred to her because of the CCTV camera. "No - no, that mysterious messenger is watching me? Then spreading my personal data to people who consider me a threat? Damn it!" Alicia said to herself.
She then turned around, looked at the gazled floor that had witnessed James' death two days ago and said,

"I'll find you soon, asshole!"

Nicholas folded his arms across his chest and dropped his buttocks on the edge of the white table in the room.Nicholas finally decided to postpone the interrogation about Elena's death for several reasons. First, he wanted to first confirm the external post-mortem and autopsy results from the forensic authorities regardin
Nicholas folded his arms across his chest. His brown eyes looked at Ace seriously. "What information are you referring to? This is no time to play around.""I'm not playing around. I'm also serious.""So, what information do you want to give me?Seeing Nicholas give the response Ace was hoping for, made the young man smile with satisfaction. His plan had worked. He could lift his face confidently now. Ace then raised his index finger in the air, "Firstly, this information should be very useful to you," Ace raised both fingers now, forming a 'V' in the air. "And secondly, this information is not free. Well, nothing is free in this world."Nicholas frowned. He was confused as to what Ace was trying to tell him. Did Ace intend to blackmail a policeman now?But in the midst of Nicholas' confusion, Ace turned his attention to Alicia. Alicia was sitting quite far away, but could clearly see Ace's wide smile there."Hello, ash hair. How are you?" greeted Ace familiarly. She waved her hand, t
CHAPTER 19Golden High.As the name suggests, Golden High School is indeed like gold. The boarding-based school was too precious for its owner. It was like a treasure. Not only because many of the children came from wealthy families, but also because Golden High School would be dominated by investors who were willing to spend millions of dollars just for an annual event. By the way, Golden High School had some formal rules that everyone in it had to abide by. One of them is that students must enter the dormitory before ten o'clock at night. The main lights in the dormitory will be turned off at ten o'clock at night. And the security guards would make their rounds at eleven o'clock, to make sure that the students were back in their rooms. But this rule disturbed Alicia and Brittany's plans. Alicia looked at the clock on her left hand warily, occasionally hesitating. Meanwhile, Brittany was much more frightened because she had to do something she had never done before.Alicia and Britta
CHAPTER 20Knock! Knock! Knock! The sound of knocking on the door startled them. They exchanged glances with shocked expressions. Brittany reflexively covered her mouth before whispering to Alicia and Ace, "What now? There's someone else at the door!"Alicia looked at Ace who was now staring at the door of her room. It was almost midnight, who was visiting her room this late?"I'll check it out," Ace said in a low voice. He also looked cautious, not wanting anyone to overhear their conversation. The man raised his hands in the air, then continued, "You guys just hide under the bed. Make sure you don't make a sound when I open the door."Alicia and Brittany nodded their heads as Ace said that. They both ran and lowered their bodies just to hide. Whoever was outside Ace's door could have reported the two of them to the dorm elites. They would be in trouble if reported."I'm scared, Alicia," Brittany whispered, then covered her mouth with her trembling body. But Alicia's hands immediatel
CHAPTER 21Ace Blake's room.Ace allowed everyone to sit near the bed, watching Luke who was preparing with his laptop on his lap. Luke was indeed a technology expert, he was Ace's trusted hacker. So far, Luke's skills have helped him a lot for his personal needs. But this time, Luke knew that the problem they were facing was not just a small one.Ace lent him his super-expensive laptop to support their planned hacking action. They then sat in a circle with Luke as the centerpiece. And Nicholas immediately gave Luke the link he found at the scene of Elena's death.Luke looked serious with the laptop in front of him. His eyes stared straight, while his forehead frowned seriously. Usually, they would play video games to pass the time. But what they were dealing with this time was a case of someone's death. No games, no fun.Ace pulled the chair in the corner of the room closer to Luke, he stared at the screen and asked, "How? Were you able to break into the dark site's server security?"
CHAPTER 22Luke had just managed to hack one of the most difficult safeguards that allowed him to access the site's secret trading page. his skills were amazing! But he didn't get it easy. His family is talented in technology and computers. Some of them are programmers and corporate hackers, so Luka has more or less learned the ropes."I can access it and it's amazing!"The curious Brittany reflexively brought herself closer to Luke. She looked at the page that displayed many pictures of firearms and other illegal items that were sold freely on the site. All displayed without censorship and restrictions for children. "You've got to be kidding me, Luke," Brittany hissed. "These are all illegal items."Luke's smiling face turned one hundred and eighty degrees. He didn't look as happy as before. Luke mumbled a little, seemingly considering Brittany's words. Brittany was right about the illegal goods, so why should Luke be happy. He looked in the other direction and called out, "Detective
CHAPTER 23New York City Police Headquarters.Alicia sat inside a two-by-two-meter enclosed room at the New York City police headquarters. Her eyes stared coldly at the wall in front of her, her gaze blank. Her hands were folded on a wooden table with a glass surface. This room contains only a table, a chair, and CCTV cameras in every corner. This was her death seat, even though Alicia was not necessarily guilty of the case she was facing. Two policemen in full uniform approached Nicholas who was standing behind black glass. One of them, Michael, tapped Nicholas on the shoulder. "Detective?"And Nicholas turned to the source of the voice. Michael was a police officer who usually conducted interrogations in the office. He was a tall man with a thick black mustache that attracted attention. Square glasses adorned his brown eyes. He looked at Nicholas curiously, before a smile finally lifted his grayish lips."Michael?""This is Peter, our new colleague in the office. He just came in tod
CHAPTER 24Alicia snorted rudely and shot Nic a disapproving glare. "I was set up and you must have known it, Gray.""I think you'd better speak politely to me, because you're being watched by a lot of police here." Nicholas looked towards the glass, where the two policemen from earlier were indeed watching their activities from a different room. Nicholas turned back to Alicia and tapped the surface of the table with his forefinger. "You must be able to prove that you were not involved.""But I really didn't order anything on the dark site we saw!"Nicholas nodded slowly. He then thrust several sheets of paper containing his investigation reports so far onto the table, so that Alicia could see all the photos and writings in front of her without having to touch them. "But how do you explain all this? That asshole Wilson will punish you if he sees this. Oh, no, there's worse. You'll go to jail if Mr. Wilson asks me to. You're in big trouble now." Nicholas then leaned back and watched Al
