Chapter 5; overwhelmed

      ****Back to present****

My eyes were clouded with tears while I sobbed uncontrollably, the room was calm while they watched me, I know that they still want me to say more about myself.

"My name is LISA, am 20 years, my biological mother never had enough time to tell momma where she came from, or who my father is, my life is so shattered it has never been a smooth journey, my everyday life at Daly city  has never been easygoing"

"They feel I am evil, it has not been so easy  to be a bastard child, but my momma has always been there for me, she went through a rough path to make me go to school, she made sure I finished college, she did every single thing for me."

"Mama has always been there, she cared like I was her daughter, all of this happened because of me"

I sobbed...

"It...w..was my fault she died...."

I slammed my hand on the bed, and squeeze up the bed sheet close to my chest, Adrian and his mom looked at me pitifully, he tugged me into his arms firmly while I cried hysterically, I felt so comforted and secured for the first time in my life in his arms, while he inserted his hand into my blonde hair, " you don't have to blame yourself, it's not your fault" he replied, his face was so pale after hearing my story.

After a few minutes, Mrs. Dora broke the silence and said in a calm tone,

"Lisa you don't have to worry about anything any longer, you can live with us here, I mean you are welcome to be part of my family now"

she smiled.

I was so shocked to hear that from her, she barely knew me, and she offered me this? I was so overwhelmed with joy, I never knew I would have someone in my life just like moma again, I felt joy flood like a river in my heart, and I started stammering.

"Oh..oh..i...I am a...grate..ful ma'am, I am s..so h..happy..." She didn't even allow me to finish up.

"Shhiiiiiii... You don't have to bother yourself about anything else, okay?"

My mouth still pouted as I looked at her through Adrian's shoulder, she gave out a smile and she patted my back "excuse me" she left me and Adrian alone.

                ****ADRAIN'S POV****

When I was going for a business meeting two days back, Lisa appeared from the middle of a crowd looking terrified, as she was running for safety. I couldn't do more than save her life, her smooth glowing skin covered with blood and bruises. 

The moment I grabbed her into my arms as she fell and went straight into a coma, I hurriedly took her into the car and the driver sped up with the gears, she lay on my lap innocently as her blonde hair falls behind her shoulders, all I was eager to do was to save her, immediately I called doctor Sam who is our family doctor to show up Immediately at the house.

As I ran my hand through her hair, every strand of her blonde hair could tell me how broken-hearted she was at the moment, and how her life has ever been. I wondered how a beautiful girl with a pretty name would have experienced so much hatred in her life.

Am so glad my mom could agree for her to stay here with us, I promise you Lisa I will give you all my best, I will protect you and make sure you will never get hurt again, and I will make sure all your crooked path becomes straight and bring out light from your dark moments and lead you to the light in every tunnel.

She suddenly broke the hug, and my eyes widened. I hope she didn't read my thoughts as her eyes came in contact with mine, can she read thoughts? No, I pray she can't,  her blue bright eyes shone brightly like a star, her red cherry lips curled up into a smile when she released the words "thank you" from her mouth, and her sweet voice sounded like sweet symphonies inside my ears and immediately generated some butterflies in my tummy.

"I would like to meet detective Richard tomorrow, I think am strong enough to talk to him now," she asked in a low tone

"You want to go alone to the office?" I looked at her raising one of my brows.

"Sure, am confident to tell give him all the information now, I think I can handle it" she replied

"Okay I will make sure one of the drivers takes you there"

when I was about to leave her room, I felt something warm around my elbow, I turned around it was her grip, our eyes locked together as again, she said "thank you, thank you, Adrian, for saving my life" the room was silent for a while  I smiled "yes, you have to take your sleep now," she nodded, I gently lay her down, cover her with the Duvet and worked out of the room.

I had a busy day at the company today, although it has always been like that for the past few weeks at the company today was exceptional, the meeting I canceled the other day to save Lisa's life was scheduled for today and it took a lot of hours of our time today, trying to fix things up, and about a contract that will soon be signed.

My body is very achy. I am tired and need to take a nap because I will be up again to work on the internet in just a few hours. Seeing that the company has a very big project to get, I can hardly rest.

"Hey hey hey....."

"Where is Mr handsome coming from now?"

I recognized the voice and knew it would not be anybody else but Vanessa. I turned around and saw her standing behind me.

"Van, how are you doing"

"Am fine today,"

"That's nice " I grinned

"So how is our new guest? I just saw you coming out from her room........ Vanessa sneered.

"Really? Are you snooping around me?" I gave her a look...

She stepped closer smiling

"Her name is Lisa by the way" I gestured

"Oh.....she finally spoke? I thought she was dumb or something" she smirked

"Oh Van...can you stop that, am not ready for stuff like this, please not this time"

Vanessa started laughing

"hahaha, no adrain I was just kidding"

she smiled as she walked closer again and I gave her a calm look.

She hugged me tightly and I pulled back after a few seconds, "what's that for?",

"Adrian I missed you" she replied.

Since I have been so busy with the company's upcoming project, I hardly had the time to see her. I wasn't surprised to hear her say that.

Vanessa and I have been friends since childhood, we have always been the best to ourselves, during high school I had always secured her from bad guys and made sure she is always safe, she likes my little sister.

Vanessa and Ms. Sarah her Mom came to live with us here too, they have been here since my high school days, and Ms. Sarah is my mom's best friend. I guess that was where the connection came between Vanessa and me being best friends too.

Just before I could say a word her phone beeped, she took the screen to her face and swiped through it, and released a smile.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Oh my God, I can't believe this adrain......" She spun round

"Okay guess what?" She dropped the phone behind her back

"Guess? You know I'm not good at guessing van"

"Please try for me...... Just give it a trial" She begged

"Okay.....okay....... Okay," I looked upward with my hands tickling, just trying to guess it right.

"You got a brand new car as a  present?" My hands opened thinking it was correct, but she shook her head

"No....." She replied

"Okay, you are going on a vacation in Paris?" I added

"Aw......aw.....Adrian...... Try harder" She cried out.

I just said it, I am not just good at making good guesses, but she wouldn't listen, okay let me just try this last time.

"Fine....fine.....fine... You are going out on a date......" I waited for some min with my cheeks curled upward showcasing my 32 teeth, I knew all of my guesses were wrong none was correct, she frowned her face with her hands folded on her chest.

"Adrain you such a killjoy" She blew me on the shoulder.

"Ouch.....that's hurt" I faintly screamed

"Go away you didn't get any of it"

"Okay sorry, please tell me what's giving you joy this night" I scratched my head hoping for her to tell me after failing three times

"I......just.....got .....a.....message.....from.....the..... J-BROTHER'S COMPANY......"She laughed.

I was so impatient to hear the full story from her

"So.....what's the good news" My hand's path.

"I just got signed up by the company to be their new ambassador for their latest brands for three good months and that means I will be going to Los Angeles in the next three weeks to begin my first stage of the contract" She screamed last words out and giggled.

I took her up and gave her a tight hug.....

"OMG, that's nice to hear"

"I'm so happy tonight, let me go and share this news with my mom" She danced around.

"Let me leave you to go share your news with your mom"

"Thank you..."

"Good night Vanessa"

"Good night!" She screamed behind me.
