Chapter 0006

Fiona stood frozen in place.

This was the first time Calum had lost his temper with her, but why?

She didn’t understand.

They had made the decision to separate three years ago, and he had even brought it up in person just a few days ago.

Noticing his attitude, Calum calmed down, and his gaze no longer met Fiona's.

"I have something to do, I’ve got to go."

Calum’s outburst had been unexpected. His retreating figure seemed somewhat hesitant. Fiona watched the car drive away, lost in thought.

After leaving, Calum didn’t go home directly. Instead, he met some friends at the Secret.

The lights were dim, and the sound of music was loud. The SVIP booth offered the best view in the entire venue.

Calum sat in the center without saying a word, though he had already consumed more than half of the bottle of liquor.

Mike Renolds leaned in and said, “This doesn’t seem right. Isn’t it supposed to be a joyous occasion when good things happen? Megan is back. Shouldn’t your lips be curving from ear to ear?”

Calum frowned and replied coldly, “You talk too much.”

There were four or five friends sitting around, all of whom were close to Calum and knew the details of the relationship between him and Fiona.

One of his other friends whispered, “I know, it must be that our Fiona didn’t want the divorce.”

“Really?” Mike asked back. “But that’s understandable. Fiona has tried for so many years, only to end up empty-handed. It’s normal for her to be reluctant for a while. Give her some time, and she’ll agree.”

The conversation heated up.

Mike grumbled, “Fiona is quite pitiful, chasing after you for all these years. Sigh, even the most heartless person should be moved by now. Only you, you don’t even spare her a second glance. And yet, you act like you care about her. Poor Fiona.”

“By the way, all these years, did you really not know that Fiona likes you, or are you pretending not to see her feelings for you?”

Calum paused for a moment, his hand still holding the wine glass. His cold eyes grew sharper.

After a long silence, he didn’t say anything.

Mike, feeling a bit helpless, teased, “Fiona is beautiful, and her personality is great. If you don’t like her, just leave her to me. I’ll make sure to pamper her like a little princess.”

Suddenly, Calum shot a cold, piercing glance at him.

Mike shrugged. “I was just kidding, don’t look at me like that, it’s terrifying.”

Calum frowned and, as he shifted his gaze, locked eyes with a man not far away.

He then stood up and followed.

“Hey, Calum, you’re leaving already? Are you really mad? I was just joking,” Mike shouted behind him.

Making his way through the crowd, Calum walked to one of the most secluded spots in the club.

It was a place Calum would never have chosen.

He sat down on the red sofa and suddenly said, “I didn’t expect Mr. Blaze to choose such a place. Isn’t it a bit too quiet?”

Lee casually placed his hand on the sofa, holding a glass of whiskey. Both of them gazed ahead.

Lee chuckled. “Just because Mr. Jones doesn’t like it doesn’t mean others don’t.”

Calum looked over and Lee said slowly, “Mr. Blaze, would you like to have a drink?”

Instinctively, Calum clenched his fists. “Some things you should have never set your mind on. I’ll be straight with you. You and Fiona don’t match.”

Lee didn’t seem to mind Calum’s bluntness and smiled, though his eyes turned cold. He replied, “Where are you coming from, Mr. Jones? Are you Fiona’s brother? Or her ex-husband? Either way, you have no right to say anything.”

The tension between them was palpable, as though the strings of a tense bow were ready to snap with the slightest pull.

Calum's face darkened. “We haven’t divorced yet.”

“So what?” Lee’s smile gradually faded, and his expression grew cold. “She’s already mine, and… she’s more in tune with me than you can imagine.”

With a loud bang, Calum’s fist landed squarely on Lee.

Then came the second punch, followed by the third.

Hector, who had been sitting nearby, watching the scene and drinking, winced. He groaned, “Ouch, this looks painful. Can’t watch anymore.”

Calum had vented his frustration, but didn’t forget to warn Lee. “Lee, Fiona is different from those other women. She’s not someone you can just play with. Stay away from her.”

Lee looked at Calum leaving, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with his long fingers. He didn’t seem angry, but rather like he was planning something.

Hector laughed. “Lee, I’ve never seen you look so miserable.”

“You just stood by and just watched, and now you’re laughing?”

Hector crossed his legs. “If you, Lee, wanted to fight back, who would be able to hurt you? You were just looking for a fight, scheming as usual.”

After saying that, Hector stood up knowingly. “I’m leaving. Don’t let me ruin your pity act.”

“Take a cab and get lost.”

Hector smiled and left, grabbing an unopened bottle of whiskey from the table on his way out. Lee didn’t mind.

He took out his phone and dialed a number that was pinned at the top of his contacts.

Fiona had already gotten into bed, ready to rest when her phone suddenly rang.

She picked it up and saw that it was him.

It was late, what could he want?

Fiona didn’t answer, letting the call ring until it hung up automatically, pretending she didn’t hear it.

But Lee kept calling again and again. Fiona was truly annoyed by the incessant ringing and answered the phone with little patience.

“Mr. Blaze, I’m already in bed. Can we talk tomorrow?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Lee said, “I’ve been hit. It was Calum.”

Fiona quickly sat up. “How is he? Is he injured?”

Lee’s face darkened, his expression worse than someone who had lost millions of dollars. “Ms. Shaw, I think you should be more concerned about my injuries.”

“Sorry, I—”

“He’s fine. I’m the one who got hit.”

Fiona sighed in relief. Lee could hear everything clearly on the other end of the line, his expression dark enough to make it seem as though he could snap at any moment.

“Ms. Shaw, would you like to take me to the hospital, or should I call the police?”

Without hesitation, Fiona asked, “Where are you? I’ll come find you.”

“At the place where you and I ‘hit it off’.”

Half an hour later, Fiona arrived at the Secret.

Lee was sitting in an inconspicuous corner. The place didn’t match his status at all.

But then again, it wasn’t surprising. Lee had a powerful position in Heliafield, but there was rarely any news about him. His low-key nature was well known.

Fiona approached and got a good look.

Lee’s face was covered in bruises, looking quite battered. If it weren’t for his handsome features, this face would have been almost unrecognizable.

“You’re supposed to be so tough, yet you got beaten up this badly?”

His face looked a mess, but his aura was still powerful. Lee’s pitch-black eyes looked through the neon lights at her.

“Ms. Shaw, what makes you think I’m tough? From when we were in bed?”

Fiona’s cheeks flushed, and her brows furrowed tightly. “Aren’t you supposed to be going to the hospital? I’ll take you there now.”

His tall figure stood up, and as he did, Lee casually placed his arm around her shoulders, leaning towards her.

“Forget the hospital, let’s go to my place.”
