Troy's POV
I fight the urge to flip the switch on and reveal the face of the unarmed burglar rummaging through our refrigerator. It's funny how fearless people have seem to become as they just break into people's houses without wondering what the future holds for them if they are caught. I clench my fists and hold the frying pan in my hand even tighter, holding my breath in and praying silently that the 'unarmed' burglar really is unarmed. The burglar seems to be unaware of my presence as he keeps on filling his bag with items from our refrigerator. I mean, who goes to people's houses just to steal food. Especially given the fact that this house has an high tech security system. I wonder how he managed to get past the gate with the amount of security men lingering around there. Or how he managed to come inside the house without knowing the password. Or how he managed to get into the living room without the security alarms going off and waking the entire building up. Or how he got into the kitchen without an already registered footprint. That is reason enough for me not to alert my parents or anybody else. Other than that, everybody knows my father, John Bailey, to be one of those men who would never let a burglar get away with it. He believes it's a deep ruin of his reputation . I squint my eyes in the dim light to make out the figure of the supposed burglar. He has a very slender figure and his face is masked entirely, revealing just his eyes. Taking brave steps forward, I walk on my tiptoes and try to hit him from behind. As if pre-warned by an adrenaline, he turns around in a swift motion and grabs a hold of my hand, stopping it mid air. I gasp and open my mouth to yell for help. He stops me by flipping me around and putting a hand over my mouth. My screams are hung in my throat and I feel like I'm going to choke if I don't let them out. "Shush." he whispers in my ear. My eyes widen in realization at the sound of his voice. Turns out he's a female. I grab a tight hold of her hand that's over my mouth and try to flip her around. She stops me and places both my hands behind my back. "Don't make a sound if you love yourself." she warns and I hear a deep smirk in her voice. I nod very fast and I gulp as I feel the beads of sweat that start to form on my forehead. Calm down Troy. She's a lady, you're a guy. "S.. Stop. If I alert everybody, you'll be a goner." I tell her, trying my best to sound as confident as I can. "Just leave me alone. Steal what you already have and go in peace." That seems to do the trick as she frees her grip of me. She looks at the sack in her hands and then the refrigerator and then me. She nods and continues to fill her sack up. "Aren't you in the least bit afraid?" I ask her in awe. She doesn't reply me and increases her pace. I start to feel panic for her. Even though she is wrong, I really don't want my father to find her here. She would definitely be a goner and I honestly think she's brave enough to have come this far in the first place even if it's just to steal food. She ties the sack up and flings it over a shoulder. She pulls something like a rope out of her pocket and aims it at the window. She clips the first end which is some sort of metal clip to the window and attaches the other end to the belt around her waist. She climbs on the window and stands straight on it. She turns to look at me, "Thank you fat boy", before she jumps out the window. My heart skips a beat and I rush to the window to see if she's okay. I sigh in relief when she pulls the rope and the side clipped to the window is unclipped. I watch in awe as she runs out of the garden. "I'm not fat." I mumble slowly to myself when she's out of sight. It's true, I'm not. * * *I open my eyes and hit the alarm clock as hard as I can. It's six in the morning, the same time I wake up everyday even though it was the holidays. This is it, my first day of school in my last year of highschool. I roll out of bed and neatly tuck the sheets into the headboard. The room other than the bed is already neat, as always. I grab a towel and undress before heading to the shower. A lot of thoughts run in my head. I'm finally a senior. It's so hard to believe. I still remember my fresher year, that seems so long ago, when I'd thought that this day would never come. I run the cold water in my hair, adding more shampoo and rubbing my hand through it, making sure the shampoo gets everywhere. My mind races back to the girl burglar. I mentally applaud her for being so bold. If only I had half that courage, maybe my life would be a lot different. Unlike many rich people, I'm not one of the populars. I just go to school, come back home, repeat. Majority have no idea who I am or that I'm one of 'the Baileys'. A lot of people just think I'm a Bailey. I have nothing but a few friends to call my own and my only attempt at having a girlfriend was two years ago and that didn't work out for either of us because she thought I was boring.I slide a plain white shirt on, Blue Jeans and a pair of white sneakers. I pull a black cardigan over my head and wear my glasses before heading downstairs to join my family for breakfast. Heading down the stairs, I bring my phone out to set my schedule for today. I'm not sure what it is we would exactly be doing today but my schedule is for sure arranged in an order that wouldn't be disrupted by any unexpected future occurrences. When I get downstairs, my family is already seated in the dining hall. The table is set with all kinds of meal for everyone to choose from. No matter how many times I suggest that we make our food choices before it's cooked, they all never seem to put my thoughts into consideration and of course, there's always untouched food that becomes leftovers. "Good morning." I announce in a low voice and take a seat on the dining table. My mom smiles at me and my dad just keeps his focus on the newspaper in his hands that he seems to be so engrossed in. My little sister, Jenna, has never been more excited to resume back to school given the fact that it's going to be first year in highschool. I turn to look at her seated on the chair across from me and give her a little wink. I think the makeup on her face is a little bit too much for a fourteen year old but of course, it's always just my opinion. "Ready for your last year in highschool?" My mom's voice fills the awkwardly silent hall as I finally manage to get comfortable in my seat. Without looking at her, I nod. I pick a fork and knife from the table and start to dig into my breakfast of roasted turkey and ham sandwich, the only thing on the table too large for a family of four, that suits my morning craving. "What about me? Wouldn't you ask if I am ready for my first year in highschool?" Jenna asks as she dabs around her mouth with a little white napkin. "We don't exactly have to. You haven't spoken less of it all week, I'm pretty sure we know pretty much how you feel." my mom teases her and laughs a little. It's not everyday we get to see her laugh, smile, yes but she's ever too busy to laugh. "No talking over breakfast." My dad speaks for the first time. He still has his gaze fixed on the newspaper in his hands. Nobody utters a word of course and I can't help but roll my eyes. I think pretty much everyone I've stumbled upon fears my dad the most. One time when we were younger, he even instilled a rule that we referred to him as Mr Bailey and not dad, or father. How that rule went extinct,I'm not certain but we certainly did manage to get rid of it. He feels more like a boss than a father. We spend the rest of our breakfast in an extremely awkward silence. The evidently impatient honks are the first thing I hear the second I walk out of the mansion. I sigh in annoyance. Even given the fact that I'm eighteen, my parents refuse sternly to let me take driving lessons or to let me own a car. They believe that teenagers are nothing but reckless and take advantage of every situation so until I'm off to college, there will be no cars for me."Troy wait up! Let's take a first day of school picture." Jenna calls loudly behind me. She should be in the Guinness world record for taking the most snaps in the world. I on the other hand, am a complete antisocial person. I do not believe in taking pictures or anything, it's a perfect waste of time."I'll pass." I call back and head towards the black jeep whose honks have gone extinct since we stepped out and became visible to the driver.I open the car door and set myself at the backseat. Jenna of course, takes her time before getting in. She d
Everybody's attention suddenly drifts to the class intruder and surprisingly, she doesn't feel intimidated by all the stares she's getting. I watch as Mr Harper eyes her up and down before finally opening his mouth to speak."And you are?" he directs at her, not even in the least trying to be nice especially since he's new. Most other new teachers only ever try their best to be on the student's good side."Janice Willow." She answers. Her voice comes out really deep, too deep for the way her face looks. "I'm sorry, I didn't get my schedule set on time. It won't happen again, I promise."Mr Harper doesn't reply but he gives her one last head to toe scan before returning his focus back to the marker board. He writes the words, 'Social studies' with Economics in a bracket beside it, big and bold, right in the center of the board."So majority of you should be familiar with the basics of Economics I presume." he starts to say. He's right. Majori
Janice's POVI push my way through the crowded room filled with nothing but drunken Homo sapiens, with Lucy Miller trailing behind me. I frown as one drunken girl staggers and falls right in front of me.Without having to look, I can picture the startled look plastered on Lucy's face. Just to confirm, I turn around to catch a glimpse of her face behind me. True to my assumption, her eyes are widened and her mouth is opened but she doesn't say anything."Just ignore and walk around her." I sigh and walk a bit to the left to avoid having to step on the passed out girl fallen in front of me. Lucy does the same and shakes her head as we keep moving."I'm not sure I like it here." She opens her mouth to say. Just then, the guy handling the music seems to think it right to increase the volume of the song playing ultrasound loud from the speakers. I chuckle a bit before replying her,"Don't worry, in time you'll get used to it. Maybe even one day,
Troy's POV"So how was your first day in highschool?" I ask my little sister sprawled out on my bed,one of her legs crossed over the other one, lying on her back."Well," she sighs, "It was okay I guess. It was pretty much kinda stressful but I guess in time, I'll get used to it." She says, not looking over to me sitting on the little couch in my room from across of her."That's how it gets. It's just a matter of time." I tell her. She grabs her phone lying next to her and starts to tap on the screen."Dad's off to Asia tomorrow." She suddenly says after a few minutes of silence passes."Asia?" I raise an eyebrow and she puts her phone down before sighing and looking at me. She nods her head a bit before replying."Yeah. I think it's something to do with business."I sigh and stand up to walk across the room to grab a glass of water from off the table, "I miss the times
Without wasting any time, I start to run up the stairs. The last thing I want is to be caught by a security guard and get reported to my dad. Trust me, you don't want to know what it's like when a father investigates his kid like the FBI does a criminal suspect.I sigh in relief when I spot my door locked, for a moment in the rush, I thought I'd left it open. I walk right in and gently shut it. Turning the key twice again, making sure that it's locked.Just as I turn around and start to walk into the room, two hands grab mine and tightly secure them behind my back. I open my mouth to let out a squeal but another pair of hands find their way to my mouth and my neck.I tilt my head a bit to see why the hand around my neck feels so sharp. There is a knife around my neck.Everywhere suddenly starts to darken and I feel a bit of uneasy dizziness, my legs feel weak and I automatically fall to the side, in an attempt to pass out.The h

Travis directs at me and rushes over to lean by my bedside. Going on one knee, he looks under my bed. Like I'd hide anyone there.I hold my forehead and groan, "I guess so? Is there a reason why I shouldn't be?" I ask him and glance in the direction of the pulled down door. I gasp and rub my eyes, "Is there a valuable reason why my door is no longer connected to its hinges?"Travis looks at the door and shakes his head, "Well we were knocking hard and you didn't open up. We spotted two burglars in the house and we thought something had happened to you since you didn't open up quick." he tells me and I groan again."Because I was asleep!" I stand to my feet and start to tuck the sheets into the bed's wooden frame,my daily routine.I yawn reflexively and start to walk towards my closet. The minute my hand pushes the closet door open, images of today's earIy memories play in my head, Janice and Lucy. I don't think I'd be able to recognize Lucy if I saw her in person but then again the fact that I know what Janice looks like doesn't mean I'll confront her either.
*Janice's POVLucy and I walk out of our last class, Computer science, with our bags straddle over our shoulders. I study the look on her face as she stares down at her feet while we make our way out of the hall."What's wrong?"I ask her and she snaps her head up to meet my gaze. She sighs and shakes her head."It's nothing. I'm just worried about Eric and what he'll say when you tell him we almost got caught yesterday." She tells me in a low, uncertain voice. I almost chuckle at the worry laced in her voice. I lift my left hand up and poke her right cheek."I can't believe you're afraid of Eric, guy can't do shit to us okay? He just seems scary because he's the oldest but trust me he's still a chill dude." I tell her and she offers me a pale, obviously fake smile and I can easily tell that her worry has not dissolved."This is not the first time I've been caught in a house." I add to my hopefully supportive point. "He's not going
"Dad's left?" I ask Jenna who's busying herself with a can of soda and the Television in the living room. She looks up from the TV and looks up at me with a sweet smile on her face."Yeah." she says and stands up to give me a hug. She sits back down and folds her leg up on our most expensive couch. The one only my dad is permitted to sit on. Seeing her all comfy on it gave it away that the old man's left.I take the soda from her and have a little sip of it before handing it back to her. I glance at the TV and groan. I hate reality TV. Why sit back and watch other people live their lives on camera.Without wasting any time, I stride up the stairs and head straight to my room.I gently turn the doorknob and walk into my already unlocked room. I toss my bag to my bed and jump on to my bed. Spreading my arms on the bed, I start to wave them like I'm making snow angels. "Home sweet home."My bedroom is my home. It's the only place that belongs to me
"How long has it been now?" I shift in my chair to look at the teacher. He sighs at me, drops the stupid book back on the shelf where it belongs, and starts to walk over to his seat.He sits down and without checking the time, he answers me, "Six minutes."I groan and shift uncomfortably in my chair. I bring my phone out of my backpack and switch it on. I look at him expecting a disapproving remark."No phones allowed in detention, Miss Willow." he tells me. I roll my eyes at him but I don't put my phone back."Chill. I'm trying to text my mom and tell her I'll be freaking home late." I pause and he looks at me warily. I raise an eyebrow at him and sigh."Dude. My doctor would be waiting for me, at least I have to let them know that some asshole teach put me in school jail." I snap at him and proceed to texting my mom."Doctor?" he raises an eyebrow back at me, ignoring my rude rema
