ISABELLA'S POV

I knew I didn't have much time–he could return any moment from now or try to prevent my escape. Somewhere between panic and frustration, I began tearing up the room like a possessed woman. My mind was racing, and even though I didn't know exactly what I was looking for, I knew anything that could help me leave was my sole focus.

My eyes scanned the room, but everything was properly arranged, leaving me frustrated.I quickly rushed to the wardrobe and flung it open. Inside, there were no ropes,no belts, and no hidden tools. It was only filled with designer clothes and some empty hangers swinging gently.

Did he have a wife? Or was it a normal routine for him to kidnap women at his house and do whatever he pleased with them?

I swallowed down the panic and turned around. Then my eyes caught something tucked behind the curtains. A bundle of cords may be from an old lamp. I rushed toward it in a heartbeat and snatched it up. In my haste, my elbows knocked the table by the

ADRIAN'S POV As soon as the driver pulled up at the hospital entrance, my mind flashed back to the first time I saw my Dad collapse. It had been a cold evening—just like this one. We had just gotten back from our usual Friday evening golf game. The kind that usually made us forget about the world and its pressures. We sat by the pool enjoying the moment. Everything seemed normal. Our laughter, echoing across the marble walls of our estate. It never felt like a father, son moment rather, two friends enjoying a peaceful time together. That was when the phone rang He picked it up, his eyes casually scanning the screen before answering it. The next thing I saw was him staggering back, his hand gripping his chest tightly like it was about to fall out of his body. I immediately got up and screamed for Chris. ADRIAN'S POVI woke up the next morning to the soft rustling of medical equipment. As my eyes fluttered open I found a nurse standing by the bedside. I realised I had fallen asleep while sitting in the chair, my head tilted uncomfortably against the cool wall. A dull ache throbbed in my neck from the awkward position I had slept in for hours. “I'm sorry… I didn't mean to wake you.” The nurse said softly, her voice barely above a whisper, as if speaking loudly could destroy the atmosphere of the room “No it's fine,” I replied, my voice still thick with sleep. I tried to rub my eyes and shake off the remnants of fatigue. “How is he doing now?” I managed to ask. “He's getting better. He will still need some time to rest and we will also need to monitor his food and water intake carefully,” she explained. “Okay. And how long do you think that will take?” I asked. She answered with a gentle smile. “That will depend on him. How fast he can respond to the treatments. But he's out of dan

Martin's eyes held mine, steady and full of something deeper than words. “I look at you and see my future. Your smile brings me happiness, and I promise to always hold you tight and never leave your side.” Martin said earnestly My heart swelled, warmth spreading through me. This was it–the man I loved, the man I want to do forever with. “Then, let's prove to the world that forever exists,” I whispered before pressing my lips softly against his. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me close. Safe. Loved. Home Then, crack. A sudden burst of thunder outside jolted me back to reality. My phone was still playing the video – Martin, surrounded by three of his friends. Their laughter still echoing in the room. “ I still can't believe you did it, You are the boss for a reason.” One of them said, “And for all this time, you deserve a trophy” With a smirk on Martin's face, he leaned back into the chair. “Of course, I told you guys I can get anything in this world unless I choose not to.”

My sheets were soaked with tears as I woke up. Yesterday's events fought its way back into my memory, making me feel every emotion that I felt all over again. A part of me hoped and prayed everything had been just a nightmare. Taking a deep breath, I swing my legs to the side of the bed, summoning the courage to face the day. Then, the truth dawned on me. After our wedding, Martin never agreed to us sharing a bed. He only came to me when his desires demanded fulfillment and had always made me believe in the narrative that it was an unbreakable rule in the Lancaster Family, which he was compelled to obey. It only made sense to me now — Maybe I had been foolish for seeing all this and still believed his lies. It was never about rules– It was about him not wanting me. It was about me being nothing more than a game to him. Shoving the pain aside, I slipped into something comfortable and headed down to the kitchen. As I descended the staircase, my gaze fell on an envelope that was sitt

I didn't realize how much time had passed as I stepped out of the house. The thick night clouds hovered over the sky, and the cold air brushed against my skin. I was finally leaving this house for good. This house, once the place where I dreamed of building my forever, was now a place where I had endured the worst betrayals.Even though it held a lot of great memories, it also held the worst days of my life. I wanted to put everything behind me. I didn't have any concrete plan of what I was going to do. Perhaps I could find a job. That is if Martin doesn't try to sabotage that.I took a deep breath as I hopped into the car. Silent tears traced down my cheeks as the weight of Martin's betrayal and my decision pressed heavily on my chest. I had only been smart enough to save some money within the two years of my marriage to Martin. Only enough to last a few weeks and with that I could afford to stay in a hotel for a while before securing a job. The hotel wasn't much. It was a modes

My head throbbed as I forced my eyes open. My vision did not make sense of where I was. I found myself in a room that looked new. The bed beneath me was more comfortable, much bigger and more luxurious — far beyond the room I had booked. Before I could fully grasp my surroundings, a deep, commanding voice cut through my thoughts “Hey, you're awake already?” The unexpected sound startled me, causing my heart to race. I turned my head toward the voice and was stunned by the man that stood in front of me–a tall man with broad shoulders who looked to be in late thirties. He wore a well tailored suit, an unmistakable testament of his affluence. I looked back at myself on the bed, confusion swirling all over me.“ Who are you? And where am I?” “You got drunk last night,” he answered, his voice steady. “I figured bringing you in here to help was the best thing to do.” he spoke with an air of nonchalance, as if he could read my mind on the questions swirling in there and was ready to an

ADRIAN'S POVThe moment I heard Lucas call my name, I knew the timing couldn't be worse. I had to find a way to secure the entire building before she attempted whatever reckless plan she had brewing in her head. I couldn't care less about what her intentions were, but if there is one thing I couldn't afford, then it's her turning my house into a crime scene. Whatever she was chasing didn't give her the right to self-destruct my space. I glanced at her, still standing by the window. I noticed the rapid rise and fall of her chest, a sign that she was on the edge. Her words pierced me harder than I thought. A “saviour-stalker?” Was that really what she thought of me? But then again…. I guess she wasn't entirely wrong. I straightened my tie and gave her a curt nod. “I'll be back” I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper, before stepping out of the room and closing the door behind me. Lucas stood at the end of the hallway, his fingers nervously tapping the surface of his phone. H

  • Love and lies: Married to his enemy   CHAPTER 8

ISABELLA'S POVThe car ride was silent. My body still felt warm from being so close to his. But my mind was racing. There was something about the timing with Adrian. He always showed up at my most vulnerable moment. It felt like he had a radar tuned in my desperation. First, he showed up at the hotel bar and somehow took care of me when I got drunk, and now he shows up when I'm half-naked walking on the street. What are the odds? The car slowed down as we turned into a gated driveway. I leaned forward, slightly curiosity slowly overtaking my thoughts The mansion was massive. It looked like something I only saw in movies or architectural magazines. White stone pillars, tall glass windows, and manicured hedges trimmed to perfection. Soft white lights shone on the pathways, and a waterfall was positioned in the middle of the house. This didn't just scream wealth—it commanded it. I curled my toes under the car mat as I started to feel a bit uncomfortable. Adrain glanced at me, and I

Isabella's POVI promised I wasn't going to do anything stupid. But I guess breaking into my ex-husband's house to retrieve what rightfully belongs to me doesn't count as stupidity. If Martin didn't think twice to steal from me, I shouldn't hesitate to take back what's mine. I wasn't going to let it slide–No, not this time. I didn't care if it made me reckless or foolish. I wasn't going to leave it. I will drag it out even if there's just one left. I clenched my jaw, trying to hold back the anger that was swelling inside of me as I got to the house. The place was quiet… too quiet than usual. Martin's car was not parked in the driveway. Great–I could search the place without having to deal with him, his lies or his little side piece getting in my way. I slipped inside and went straight for the studio, my heart racing as I opened the door. The doors were not locked. Typical Martin. The scent in the room hit me first The old oil paint.Faint but still lingering in the air. Memo
