Remember

Leonardo laughed at Caterina's words. He felt very sad because that's how Caterina looked at him.

“You're wrong. I know what Alex is like. I know him better than anyone. By sending him off to find Ben, it's proof that I really trust him. I know that this is what he wants. Ben had betrayed their friendship; he must have wanted to finish Ben off with his own hands. Like longing, revenge must also be paid in full. If Ben dies at my hands, it will mean nothing to Alex,” Leonardo explained.

Leonardo was not very good at expressing feelings; that's why many people misunderstood his attitude.

Caterina was silent. She didn't think that far ahead. She thought that Leonardo didn't care about Alex at all, which is why he sent Alex to where the enemy was. However, it turned out that he was thinking about Alex's feelings.

Looks like Alex was right; Leonardo had his own way of showing his feelings.

“All this time I never thought about people's judgment of me. However, it turns out that being judged badly by you makes me feel very sick.” Leonardo said weakly. He looked at Caterina intently.

They were silent for a moment, gazing at each other. Trying to figure out each other's thoughts. Caterina did not know what to do. She was really in a dilemma because her trust in Leonardo had completely disappeared.

“Sir, Mr. Santiago would like to see you.” One of Leonardo's men came to give a report.

Leonardo took his eyes off Caterina; he turned and went to meet Santiago, who wanted to see him. Lately Leonardo had killed many lives, so he needed a very strong decree from the police officer. He also approached many prosecutors so that he could be defended in court if he was ever convicted of murder.

Caterina looked at Leonardo's departure with mixed feelings. The words Leonardo said a moment ago are now ringing in her head.

“It turns out that being judged badly by you makes me feel very sick.”

Caterina repeated the sentence. She never thought that Leonardo had feelings, so he could feel hurt. All she knew was that Leonardo was a man of stone. He had no feelings or compassion. That's why he easily killed and was never defeated.

“Was I wrong in my judgment?” Caterina began to doubt.

“No, he just wants to manipulate me. As long as I've been here, he's never been kind and gentle at all. That shows that he is indeed a cold-blooded man.” Caterina tried to deny all her thoughts.

Caterina sighed with a rough sigh. She left for her father's room. Dante was awake when she returned.

“Kate!” 

“Dad!” Caterina ran over. She stood on the side of the bed, helping her father as he rose to sit up.

“Don't force yourself to move much; you need to rest completely to recover faster.” Caterina reminded her father.

“I want a drink.” Dante said in a hoarse voice typical of the sick.

Caterina grabbed the mineral bottle on the nightstand and helped her father drink. The man's condition was still quite poor. His face was still very pale. His muscles were disappearing and being replaced by fat. Two months of complete rest had made him gain weight.

“Dad, can I ask you a question?” Caterina asked cautiously.

Dante looked at his daughter with a look full of tenderness. That gaze seemed filled with affection. It was a good thing there was nothing wrong with his brain from the gunshot.

“You're free to ask anything. What is it, darling?” Dante said softly.

“Do you remember who shot you? Leonardo said Marco did it; Marco said Leonardo did it. They blamed each other. No one wanted to admit who made you this way.” Caterina said questioningly. She really wanted to know who was behind all this. Her father's answer will determine what her attitude towards Leonardo will be. Because Leonardo's words and gaze just now made him think about many things.

Maybe Leonardo's words have been true all along, that Marco just wants to use her.

Dante furrowed his brow. He stared into the distance. His eyes narrowed as he tried to remember what happened before he lost consciousness and fell into a coma. However, he couldn't seem to remember now. Bits and pieces of memory about the incident flashed through her mind vaguely.

“Can you remember it?” Caterina asked again.

Dante massaged his forehead as he felt a pain in his head as he forced himself to remember everything. The look on his face was cloudy.

“There's no need to force it if you can't remember everything yet.” Caterina smiled and said. She reached for the fruit and peeled it for her father.

Dante felt very sad. He felt that he was useless because he could not help his daughter at all. “I'm sorry that I've been such a bother to you.” He said weakly, sounding like a mumble filled with complaints and grievances.
