Date night in Vegas

Jake and I went to a random ATM we found around town and stopped in front of the machine.

“Is this really going to work?” I asked, pretending to have high expectations, looking at my gold card.

“I hope it works, right?" Jake replied, encouraging me to continue.

I grunted and inserted the card into its own slot, and the card responded immediately.

“Please confirm your identification,” said a female electronic voice. I looked at Jake, and we both shrugged.

“Nancy Anderson,” I said into the machine. The system processed it and then gave it a green signal.

"The card is weathered and ready to use,” said the electronic voice.

“Jeez, jeez,” commented Jake expectantly. “Try to raise some cash,” he encouraged.

“How about a thousand?” I suggested, entering the amount number and clicking on the “withdraw” option, and to my surprise, the machine spit out a thousand dollars in cash and reported what was left. On the machine screen, it said 1,443,000.00 exactly.
