Ren’s Point of View

Ren leaned against the doorframe of Elena’s apartment, watching her laugh softly as she cleared the empty takeout containers from the coffee table. Her movements were effortless, her smile lighting up the room in a way that left him spellbound.

His wolf was silent, for once not pacing or growling. Instead, it purred in satisfaction, its voice warm and approving in his mind. Finally. You didn’t screw it up.

Ren chuckled softly, earning a curious glance from Elena. He shook his head, brushing it off, but his wolf wasn’t wrong. The kiss they’d shared had been everything he didn’t know he’d been waiting for - intense, electric, and utterly consuming.

She’s ours, his wolf murmured, its tone dripping with contentment. No more waiting, no more hesitation. She’s meant to be with us.

Not yet, Ren reminded it, though the words felt weaker now than they had before.

Elena returned to the couch, her smile soft and shy as she sat beside him. “You seem lost in thought,” she said, tilting her head.

“Just thinking about tonight,” Ren replied, his voice low. “About you.”

Her cheeks flushed, but she didn’t look away. “Good thoughts, I hope.”

“The best,” he said, his lips curving into a small smile.

For a moment, neither of them spoke, the air between them charged with an unspoken energy. Then, as if drawn together by an invisible force, they leaned in, their lips meeting in another kiss.

This time, there was no hesitation, no holding back. Ren’s hand moved to cradle her face, his thumb brushing against her cheek as their kiss deepened. Elena’s fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer, and his wolf let out a low growl of approval.

Careful, Ren warned himself, his grip tightening slightly. Don’t lose control.

But it was harder than he’d expected. The feel of her, the taste of her, the way her body seemed to melt into his - it ignited something primal in him, something that his wolf was all too eager to embrace.

Claim her, the wolf urged, its growl turning into a rumble of need. Mark her. She’s ours.

Ren pulled back abruptly, his breath coming in uneven gasps as he tried to steady himself. Elena looked up at him, her eyes wide and filled with both confusion and longing.

“Ren?” she asked softly.

He closed his eyes for a moment, forcing himself to calm the storm raging inside him. When he opened them again, his gaze was steady but filled with regret. “If I stay any longer, I don’t think I’ll be able to leave.”

Her lips parted as she processed his words, and then a small, understanding smile crossed her face. “I… I think I understand.”

Ren exhaled slowly, leaning forward to press a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead. “Tonight was perfect,” he murmured.

“It doesn’t have to end,” she said, her voice quiet but filled with hope.

He cupped her face gently, his thumb tracing the curve of her jaw. “It’s not ending. I just need to make sure I do this right.”

Elena nodded, though the disappointment in her eyes was unmistakable. “Okay.”

Reaching for his phone, she opened his contacts add her number and handed it to him. “At least take this.”

Ren smiled, his heart warming as she entered her number and saved it under Lyra. Handing it back, he caught her gaze and said, “Now you can’t get rid of me even if you try.”

She laughed, a soft, musical sound that made his chest ache. “Good. I wouldn’t want to.”

When they reached the door, Elena leaned against the frame, her expression soft but searching. “Will I see you again soon?”

Ren nodded, his resolve slipping slightly as he gazed at her. “You couldn’t stop me if you tried.”

She grinned, pulling him down for one last kiss - long, slow, and passionate, leaving them both breathless when they finally broke apart.

“Goodnight, Ren,” she said, her voice filled with both longing and contentment.

“Goodnight, Elena,” he replied, stepping back reluctantly.

As he walked to his car, his wolf rumbled softly, a mix of satisfaction and frustration. You should have stayed. She wanted us to stay.

Ren gripped the steering wheel tightly as he sat in the car, his breath coming in uneven gasps. If I had stayed, we wouldn’t have stopped.

His wolf growled in agreement, though it didn’t argue further.

Driving away from her apartment, Ren felt a strange mix of triumph and restraint. He had kept his promise to himself to take things slow, but every instinct within him screamed to go back, to claim what was already his.

Soon, he thought, his grip on the wheel tightening. But not yet.

His wolf huffed softly, its voice tinged with anticipation. She’s ours. And one day, she’ll know it.
