Chapter 76

Lorenzo's POV

The sun streaming through the opened window is what wakes me up. The empty space beside me is what makes me bolt upright on the bed. Celestine isn't here.

The shower in the bathroom isn't running and there's no sound coming from the kitchen. Did she go out?

I get out of bed and roam around the house, looking for her. All to no avail. Giving up, I go back to the bathroom to get my phone and call her. That's when I see it. The ring. The ring I gave to her last night is on the bedside table.

Not wanting to jump to conclusions, I pick up my phone and dial her number. It goes straight to voicemail. I try it again and get the same results.

My head is screaming at me that it's obvious what happened but my heart stays in denial. No. Celestine wouldn't do that to me.
