Chapter 67

Lorenzo's POV.

I pay for the ring, and Luke and I move on outside to our cars parked in the driveway.

"Thank you for helping me pick out a ring," I say, opening the door to the driver's seat just as Luke opens his.

"You're welcome." He leans on the roof of his car. "Tell me how it goes."

"You never answer your calls." I remind him.

He rolls his eyes. "Then leave me a message, dumbass." He bends down and enters his car, driving away before I can string together an answer to tell him how much I love his choice of words.

Bastard.

I enter mine too and drive out of the driveway in the direction of the beach. I stop at a grocery store to get the beef that I had used as an excuse to get out of the house so Celestine wouldn't be suspicious.

Outside the door, I reach into my pocket and pull out the box containing the ring. Opening it up, I bring out the ring, turning it slightly so the writing inside is visible. It reads, 'allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you', in cursive le
