"What?!" I stood up in annoyance when I heard what the woman I was talking to said on the phone. "I've been waiting for almost a month now and you're saying you have run out of stock? You think I'm a joke?!"
"Stop shouting and sit down," he told me but I ignored him.
"What? You can't make one for me? You said I was the first one who ordered that brand when I called you," I continued.
"We're very sorry, Ma'am. The person you talked to just resigned last week and I was the newly hired. I don't know that we will run out of stock so I've sent the bags to those who live near us," she explained. I dropped the call out of irritation before I threw my phone on the table before sitting down.
"Why? What's wrong?" he asked me. We're here at his Restaurant because he told me to come here. "Did something bad happen?"
"The brand of the bag that I ordered last month got canceled because they ran out of stock," I told him before rolling my eyes. "Do they think I was a joke? I was the first one who ordered that bag!" I rant at him.
"It's okay. I'm sure there's a lot of stores selling the same bag that you want," he said, trying to comfort me.
"No. There's no such store. That's their signature bag! I badly want that bag," I pouted as I said that. "This is so annoying! This is your fault," I glared at him.
"How was that my fault?" he asked while laughing.
"If you wouldn't have told me to come here," I whispered. "Can you just say yes? I just need to release the annoyance and irritation I am feeling right now."
"Anong bag ba? Hahanap ako ng mas maganda."
"As if," I said. "So why did you ask me to come here? We already talked last night about the deal."
"Yeah right. I was just----" his words were cut off when a man suddenly came.
"Alas!" he smiled at the crew before approaching him and making a fist bump. "Belated happy birthday. I heard what happened to your family. Condolence, pare," he said carefully to him.
"Umuwi ka para mag-condolence sa akin?"
"That’s also a reason but yeah, I'm staying here for good," he said before pulling up the chair next to him and sitting down. "I'm planning to settle down. I'm getting married. Best man kita, ha?"
"Para namang may girlfriend," he told him.
"That's the problem," he says before facing me. He surveyed my whole face and was surprised when our eyes met. He cleared his throat before turning his gaze back to him. "Girlfriend mo?"
"No. We were talking about something and got cut off, thanks to you," I sarcastically told him before sipping at my juice.
"Just wait for me at the counter, you can order any food that you want. We'll just talk," he told his friend. He just nodded before standing up and gave me an apologetic look. "Do you have to be that mean?"
"What I said is true. So, you were saying?" I asked him, trying to get back to our topic earlier.
"Okay, I know I made a deal with you. But come to think of it. My family is now buried. I lost my family but I need to keep going."
My brows furrowed. “And your point is?”
"What if I back off? What would be the consequence?"
I leaned my back in the chair and crossed my arms. "If you're planning to back off," I looked at him seriously before shifting my gaze to his friend who was now eating while talking to two girls. "How about you sacrifice your friend's body in exchange for yours? Can you do that?"
He looked surprised at what I said. He even looked at his friend. "Or do you have someone special in your heart? Are you in love with someone right now? I can have them instead of your friend. Just give me an answer," I added.
"Do you have to do that?" he asked incredulously.
"I just gave you the consequence you are asking," I seriously told him.
"Is there no other way? That was too much."
I barely laughed because of what he said. "Too much? Do you think I'm that easy? You didn't make a deal with anyone. You made a deal with me."
"Look, lasing ako kagabi,” he reasoned. “Is that your way of comforting other people?"
I laughed again when I heard his question. "I am not comforting you. I am giving you a choice to either save your family or let everyone close to you die."
A long silence remained between the two of us as we looked into each other's eyes.
"You told me it was your job to help the people who are in need. Help me to find a way to get out of the deal without making me sacrifice anyone," he was the one who broke the silence.
"Yes," I said. "But I can't help you with that. I already lost the ability to help you the moment you agreed to the deal.”
He sighed as if he were carrying all the problems in the world. "Fine, I won't back out."
"Are you sure?" I asked him.
"But can I wish instead?"
"It depends on the wish you'll say," I answered him. He sighed so I spoke again. "Fine. What is it? I'm only granting one wish, okay?"
"I wish to have an endless wish."
"Do you wish to die?" I asked him irritably.
"That's the only wish that I want," he said like a child.
"Fine," I just told him. "But you can only have one wish every day," I reminded him.
"Call," he smiled at me. "How long would it take before you can bring my family back to life? They are already buried."
"It would have been faster if you hadn't buried them first," I whispered before looking back at him. "I can bring them back now if you want. The question is… are you willing to die now?” I saw him gulp. "I guess you aren't ready yet."
"Give me 100 days," he said immediately. "After that, you can take my body. I just... have to do things that's why I can't be gone yet."
"Do what you wish."
"And a part of our deal is to see each other every day," his smile widened even more.
"What?!"
"Why? You don't want to? That's the reason why I agreed on the deal in the first place so it became part of it. Should I give a consequence if you can't do that?"
"I didn't agree on that," I said.
"I also did not agree with what you said earlier," he fired back.
"You sure have an ace in your hand," my eyes narrowed as I said that.
"Bakit? We need to be fair. And Ace is my second name which explains why," he told me before winking.
"Share mo?" I raised a brow at him.
"Since we're on the subject. What's your name?" he asked me but I didn't answer. "Huwag mong sabihin sa aking wala kang pangalan. I'm sure you have."
"Sia."
"That's it? Sia lang? Pangit naman!"
"How dare you," I stood up and tried to reach him to hit him. "It's Alessia. Alessia Mackenzie, idiot!"
"Alessia Mackenzie," he repeated what I said. "I'm Asher," he smiled at me again before offering his hand. "Asher Ace."
I looked at his face before his hand. "I don't have the heart to shake hands," I said. "I think we're done. I need to go home now because I'm wasting too much time with you."
Before I could finally go. He held my arms and gave me his phone. "What? You're showing off your phone? Is that new?" I asked crookedly.
"Cellphone number po."
"I don't want to," I quickly refused but he reached for my hand and put his phone there. "You sure have the guts to do this to me," I said while typing my number. "You are only allowed to call me once a day."
In an instant, I was inside the house. I lazily put my bag on the table before sitting down. I leaned myself on the backrest of the sofa before irritably speaking. "What are you doing here again?"
"I'm sure you know the reason why I'm here."
I rolled my eyes before looking at her. "Would I ask if I knew?" I asked her. She looked at me seriously so I rolled my eyes again. "I don't know and I'm not interested. Can you just leave? I don't want to see you yet."
"When do you want to see me? Kapag may hindi ka na kayang gawin? Kapag kailangan mo na ng tulong?”
"Well, that's a good idea.” I said before looking at her. “I will do that. Thanks."
I heard her sigh deeply. She seems to want to yell at me now but something is stopping her.
"I'm sure you know that even when I'm not around you, I know what you're doing."
"Of course. The deity knows everything," I sarcastically replied.
"Revoke the deal you made," she told me directly. "Do not ignore what I am saying right now."
"Why? Aren't you happy that finally, I found someone who is willing to sacrifice their body? I'm sure you can breathe easy now because I'll finally be gone... for good."
She looked at me in disbelief before shaking her head and sighing again.
"Why? Are you sad that I will be gone forever? Of course, who doesn't?" I joked. "Don't worry. When I live again, I will commit a sin so that our paths cross again."
"Do not accept my advice as a joke."
I couldn't stop laughing because of what she said. "Seriously, what is wrong with you? Do you regret now that you gave me a chance to die without getting my punishment? Just stay still and be happy. I will disappear without your notice. Don't worry, I still have 100 days before disappearing. Brace yourself and prepare yourself for my loss."
"You know what it means when someone makes a deal with someone like you. And you cannot bring the dead back to life. You are only increasing your sins."
"Don't worry. If in exchange for what I am going to do is my long-sought death, I am willing to do everything."
"You are putting that person's life in danger!" she suddenly raised her voice at me.
"It was his choice. He agreed to the agreement."
"Alessia!"
I fell silent when she shouted my name. I did not speak for a long time before looking at her.
"You don't have to worry. Nothing bad will happen to me. If there is, I will try no to ask you for help," I told her gently.
"I'm not worried about you, I'm worried about that person."
"Wow, see how you make me look like you don't really care about me. If you are really worried about that person, do everything you can to protect him."
"Can't you just listen to me?" she asked me as if she's already giving up. "This is for your own sake. I will make sure you won't regret it."
"Can't you just let me?" I mimicked her voice. "If I can't do this, can you let me receive the punishment I've been waiting for? You know how much I want to end the life I have now. I've been through a lot, you know that. I can't take this anymore, I want to rest. I am so tired of the life I have."
"Sia, you know how much I have protected you over the years."
"But it still can't change the fact that you are the reason why I became like this," I said bitterly.
"That was my job."
I looked straight into her eyes as I held back my tears. "Please, just let me end the life I have now. He is the only way I have."
"You will never have another chance of living again if you do that. I am doing this for you, Sia. I want to give you a chance to live again without experiencing what you experienced in this life. Please, Sia. Just stay still and wait a little bit longer for your punishment."
"But I already waited for too long!" I shouted. I could not stop my tears from dripping. "I've suffered too much. I really can't... do this anymore. Please... just kill me now."
I lost my strength which made me fall to the floor. "Just kill me. Kill me now. Please," I pleaded. I felt her sit up and hug me which made me cry more. "Please. End the life I have now. I'm begging you."
"Are you okay?" he asked me before sitting down next to me offering me a beer. I just shook my head before sighing. After that conversation, I received a call from him that's why I am with him right now."Huwag mo namang ipahalatang hindi ka masaya na kasama mo ako ngayon," he said while laughing."No," I said and shook my head. "Good thing you called me.""Bakit? May nangyari ba?" he asked me right away."Nothing," I told him. "You," I looked at him, "does my scars bother you?""Hindi naman," he shook his head. "Bakit? Are you afraid that I might judge you with those bruises and scars of yours?""I just thought your answer would be yes," I answered. "Have you ever tried to ask someone to kill you? Have you ever tried to... beg someone to just let you die?" I asked him as I looked away. We are here now on the rooftop of his condominium and the lights of the buildings and houses are starting to comfort me."I'm not sure," he said. "Have you?"I nodded. "Yes. Earlier when you called an
"Why? You can't stand it? It is not who I really am yet. I'm giving you a chance. Runaway and back out from the deal. I won't give you consequence if you do," I told him. "Runaway as far as you can," he then just looked at me. We both became silent while just looking into each other's eyes. He opened his mouth but no words came out. "Runaway from me, Asher. I am giving you a chance now to do so," I said again. He averted his gaze from me and looked in front before taking hold of the steering wheel. "Let's go home," he said before starting to drive. No one dared to talk until we got back to Manila."What's your address? I'm going to take you home," he said. I just told him my address and didn't talk again. When his car stopped in front of my house, no one dared to move at all."I gave you the chance of running away but you gave that up," I said and looked at him. "If you try to run away from me, I'll kill you.""You're telling me to run away but the fact that you call me for the first
"Safe na ‘yong bata. Okay ka na ba?" he asked me as he handed me a bottle of water. He sat down next to me. "His father is on his way," he added. After a few minutes, a man in his normal clothes came. "Waki!" he shouted when he saw the child. I saw the fear in the boy's eyes before quickly running behind a policeman. "Ayos ka lang ba? Anong nangyari sa 'yo?" he asked him. The kid is trying to avoid that man's hand. "Ikaw ho ba ang tatay?" The policeman asked him while."Oo. Ano bang nangyari sa kaniya?" he asked again that's why I rolled my eyes."Stop acting like you didn't know what happened. You were there earlier," I said. Everyone looked at me because of what I said. "I saw you chasing him.""A-ano bang sinasabi mo? Sino k-ka ba?" he asked in annoyance before looking at Marc again. "Waki, anak, halika na at umuwi na tayo" he said but Marc hid behind the policemen even more."Mawalang galang na ho, Sir. Pero base po sa kilos ng bata ay hindi niya po gustong sumama sa inyo. May n
"Please, Sia! Just this once. Samahan mo na ako. Please!" I just frowned even more as I looked at it earlier. "Please, please, please," he begged as he almost knelt down."You woke me up for that?" I asked him again. He just pouted and looked away. After a few seconds, he started to beg again. He just woke me up because he said he had something important to say."Sige na kasi, uuwi rin naman tayo kaagad! Magpapakita lang ako!""You're going home din naman pala kaagad. Why are you taking me with you pa?""Kasi gusto ko..""I'm not into crowded places, Asher. I don't attend parties," I told him."It's not a party, it's a reunion," he insisted. "And reunion," I added before I rolled my eyes."Sumama ka na kasi. Paano kapag may biglang mangyari? Paano kapag may manakal sa akin o bumaril o sumaksak? Paano kapag namatay ako?!""Fine!" I told him as a sign of defeat. "If we spend an hour there I will kill you myself!" I warned him. I went straight to my room to get dressed. It's already 5
"Okay ka na?" he asked me the next day. I just nodded at him before finally getting in his car. I asked him to accompany me to where I am going today. "Saan tayo pupunta?" he asked while smiling."Just drive," I answered. He nodded and obeyed what I said. I was just silent as I watched the other vehicles. I smiled when I found the car that I was looking for. "Follow that car," I told him as I pointed to the white car in front of us. "Let the driver know that we're following him," I commanded again. He nodded and stepped on the gas."Place your car beside it," I said before opening the window beside me. "Just follow the car," I told him and in a snap, I'm already inside their car."Hi," I saw how his eyes widened and were surprised to see me sitting next to him."Paanong..." he was unable to finish what he was saying out of panic."Drive safely, mababangga tayo," I told him. I looked at the backseat and saw a little boy crying. Without a warning, I stopped the car which made him even
Asher asked me when I got back to his condo."I helped someone outside. Do you have alcohol?" I asked him. I forgot my alcohol at home. He
"Drink plenty of water so you won't feel dry," he told me when we got inside the house. He went to the kitchen and came back with a glass of water. After I drank that, I went straight to my room to take a shower. I left the door open so he would know that it was okay for him to enter. When I came out of the bathroom, I found him looking at the framed pictures I have inside my room. I didn't speak and just let him do it."Ikaw 'to?" he asked while pointing at a small frame. It was my picture when I was still a kid."Yes. My Dad took that photo," I answered him while drying my hair."Ikaw ulit 'to?" he asked again while laughing. He took the frame and showed it to me. "Ang dungis mo tingnan dahil sa chocolate sa mukha mo pero ang cute pa rin!" he said, obviously teasing me. "Ito pa, para kang nawawalang bata! Ang liit liit mo, pwedeng-pwede kang ibulsa!"I just rolled my eyes because of what he was saying. I had a lot of pictures when I was a kid because my dad loved taking photos. I l
disclaimer: long chapterAfter the incident, they decided to close the Restaurant for today. I am sitting now beside Asher and facing the two cops. I just crossed my arms while waiting for them. One was busy writing while the other was busy looking at every corner of the restaurant.I sighed and couldn't stop myself from talking. "Aren't we starting yet?" I asked impatiently. We've been sitting here for almost half an hour but still, nothing was happening. We're just wasting time."Wala kaming makuhang impormasyon tungkol doon sa dalawang lalaki." The man who was writing earlier said. I raised an eyebrow at what I heard. "Bukod sa marami ng nagrereport sa kanila dahil sa trabaho nilang magnakaw at kung anu-ano pang records ay wala kaming makuhang papeles na nagpapatunay na taga-rito sila at kung ano ang mga pangalan nila.""So?" I asked him again. What does he mean?"Ang tanging nakita lang namin sa kanila ay ito..." he took something from his plastic pocket and laid it in front of us
After trying a lot of extreme rides, Asher was obviously trying his best to prevent himself from vomiting. “Don’t ride the next one if you’re on the verge of vomiting. You can say no to them,” I told him. “Hindi naman ako nasusuka,” he denied.I rolled my eyes before looking at Aeris and Ami who seemed to be enjoying themselves.“Enough with the extreme rides later. You’ve had enough for this day,” I told Ami. Ami has a very weak body before. Hindi siya pwedeng mapagod ng sobra or else he’ll collapsed. “One last more, Ate,” he said sweetly. “One last more,” ulit ko bago ko sila hinayaang sumakay ulit. After trying the extreme rides. I let them go around to find things that they might want to buy. Ami isn’t really into expensive toys and he prefers food over anything else. “Is my baby happy today?” malambing na tanong ko habang pinapanood ko siyang kumain ng corn dog na binili niya kanina bago kami umuwi. “Yes, Ate!” he jumped out of joy before giving me a hug. “Thank you, Ate!
“What happened? Did you make him cry?” bintang kaagad sa akin ni Aeris nang makababa kami galing sa kwarto ko. “What a cry baby,” she teased Asher. “Next time you come to me drunk, I won’t talk to you anymore,” I warned him.“Hindi pa naman ako lasing, ah?” pakikipagtalo niya. “When did drunk people admit that they were drunk?” I raised a brow on him. “Curfew na! Umuwi ka na, Asher Ace Samonte!” pangtataboy ng kapatid ko sa kanya.Instead of letting him go home, I prepared the guest room so he could sleep there for tonight. “Talaga namang actions speaks louder than words ‘no?” Aeris said as she watched me taking care of Asher.
“I don’t have any particular type, Asher,” I sighed loudly before looking away. “Weh?” may pagdududa sa boses na tanong niya. “Ako, type kita,” he said seriously. I rolled my eyes. “Whatever you say.”When we got home, I saw an unfamiliar car parked from the outside. “Who owns this?” I asked in a whisper while still looking at the car.“Ah,” Asher chuckled. “Baka sa bisita ni Aeris.”“Visitor?” My brows furrowed. “You mean the dog borrower?”Ano?” “Dog borrower? It’s Azai, Sia. His name is Azai.”“Well, I didn’t know. Aeries hasn’t introduced him yet,” I answered before getting out of his car. I quickly went inside the house. Just like what I expected, I saw Aeris and Ami in the living room, with an unfamiliar guy. “Ate!” Ami quickly came to me to give me a hug. He giggled before going to Asher to greet him as well. “May bisita po si Ate Aeris!” he declared. “Akala ko ba mamayang gabi pa kayo?!” she asked me. Ngumisi ako bago luma
"And where are you going?" I raised an eyebrow at Aeris when I caught her hurrying to put her things away in the living room."I'm meeting someone," aligaga pa ring sagot niya before getting her lipstick and facing the mirror."And who's that, someone?" I asked her again. "Is his name starts with---""Shut up, okay?" She interrupted me. "Yes, I'm going out with him. I'll make kwento later," she joked as she tried to copy my tone."How about Ami?""He's goin---""Ready na ako!"Sabay kaming napalingon sa hagdan nang marinig namin ang boses ni Ami. I was even surprised when I saw what he was wearing."Oh my God, you look so handsome, love!" malakas na sabi ko bago naglakad palapit sa kaniya para ayusin ang sintas ng sapatos niya. "And you smell so good!""Syempre, Ate! Sabi mo 'yon ang gamitin kong pabango, eh! Tapos tinuruan din po ako nila Kuya Asher ng hairstyle!" masiglang sabi niya habang pinapakita pa ang ayos ng buhok niya."Ang pogi pogi naman ng bebe ko! Halika at maghahanap ak
"Sia..." he said. "I like you."I didn't know how I reacted. I asked, still confused. I understand what he said pero hindi ko pa rin masyadong nakuha. "You what?""I like you," he seriously said. "And I'm asking your thoughts about that.""Uh," I said. "Like what?"He laugh a little. "Bakit? Okay lang ba?""Ha?"Doon na siya tuluyang natawa. "Wow, I just confessed my feelings for you. Tapos ganiyan?""Why do you like me?" I asked him."Hindi ko alam," sagot niya. "It just happens. Isang araw, alam ko nalang na may gusto na ako sayo.""Are you really serious?" paniniguro ko. "Well, thank you... if you like me. But I suggest you to please... stop," nakangiting sabi ko."What do you mean?" medyo gulat na tanong niya."That's not a good idea," I directly said. "It's not... it's no good.""Paano mo nasabi? Are you saying you're declining my confession?""Hindi. I am giving you advice on what you should
The fear of death is a result of the fear of living. Death is not the polar opposite of life, but rather an integral part of it.Hinihingal akong tumigil sa paglalakad saka pilit hinahabol ang hininga ko habang nakatungkod ang dalawang kamay sa siko, bahagyang nakayuko."I found you," mahinang sabi ko.There he is, sitting alone on the floor, looking up in the sky. Gustuhin ko man siyang lapitan kaagad but I had this urge to stay in my place where I can see his back. Where I can see him without him noticing it.For the second time, I heard him sighed. I smiled before looking at what he was holding. A candle and a lighter. Beside him is a bouquet of flowers, with a grave in front of him."Lapit ka."Napalingon kaagad ako sa likuran ko nang bigla siyang magsalita, ganoon na rin sa tabi ko dahil sa gulat. Does he knew I'm behind?"I don't like people staring at my back," he added pero hindi niya pa rin ako nililingon. I heard him sighed again that's why I decided to walk towards him. Sin
After what happened last night I didn't bother to open up a topic similar to that because I'm afraid that I might say something very honest again for the second time.Flashback..."She pondered that decision for a long time," I told him. "You'll need to make a bigger decision to let go than to hold on."A moment of silence wrapped around us. Walang ibang nagsalita pagkatapos kong sabihin iyon at nanatili lamang ang tingin sa ginang na kasalukuyan pa ring umiiyak, hindi matanggap ang pagkawala ng anak niya."Let's go home," I told him. I didn't wait for his answer because I had already walked away. I even texted Aeris to ask if the food already arrived pero mukhang tulog dahil hindi siya nagrereply. "Let me just check if the food is already inside or we'll just order something na lang," I told him but as soon as I got out of his car, he spoke."What about you?" he asked. I look at him with confusion on my face. "Would you rather... choose to make a bigger decision to let go or to hol
"Good morning..."I woke up because of the voice I heard. I haven't opened my eyes completely yet but I know that was Asher because of his scent."Breakfast?" he asked me while smiling. I saw him surveying me before looking at me again. "How are you feeling?""Feeling better," I replied before getting up. He stood up and approached me before fixing the few hairs that went to my face."Cute mo," he said before pinching my cheek which made me groan in annoyance."Masakit!" reklamo ko nang bitiwan niya. Tumawa lang siya bago ako hinila pababa. I saw Aeris who was already preparing the food."You cook?" I asked her."Ha? Hindi! Siya nagluto," dali-daling sabi niya na parang hindi makapaniwala na tinanong ko sa kaniya 'yon."Sabi ko nga," sabi ko na lang ng maalalang wala nga palang alam si Aeris sa pagluluto, just like me. "Okay ka na ba? Wala na bang masakit sa 'yo?" she asked me."I'm totally fine," nakangiting sagot ko. I waited for Asher to finish putting food on my plate before I s
After giving me first aid, Asher called Kooper to make sure that I'm okay. I just mouthed thank you kahit na p
