Chapter 5 # The Unlucky Servant

"What’s happening here?!" A doctor dressed in dark blue scrubs emerged from the room, his gaze sharp and fixed on Seno.

The commotion caused by Seno had truly disrupted the surroundings, though luckily, the security guards had yet to intervene.

“Ahem!” Seno cleared his throat, trying to regain composure. He then took a step back, restraining himself from further aggression.

Bi Yani sighed in relief; she had been saved by the doctor. Earlier, Seno had been on the verge of hitting her out of sheer frustration. She wouldn’t have survived if it weren’t for the doctor’s intervention.

“Doctor, how is my wife?” Seno asked as he approached the doctor but the doctor seemed to reluctanlty answer that question.

“Calm down, sir. Your wife is currently in recovery. The critical situation has been managed. There’s no need for concern,” the doctor explained, his expression clearly sour. It seemed the doctor wasn’t pleased with Seno’s presence.

“I was extremely worried, Doctor! That incompetent servant didn’t contact me. It was my assistant who called to inform me that my wife was in a critical condition. I nearly went mad!” Seno’s worry appeared insincere, as a slight smirk curled at the corner of his lips. Bi Yani noticed it clearly.

“Are you her husband?” the doctor asked, his tone laced with disbelief.

“Yes, I’m Lara’s husband. Do you know my wife?” Seno replied with a hint of sarcasm.

“How could you not know your wife’s condition? Are you never at home? The patient has been under acute stress, and this is a cumulative condition, not something that just happened today,” the doctor responded, his tone shifting from inquiry to accusation.

Bi Yani felt a sense of relief. It seemed that the doctor was channeling all of Mrs. Lara’s frustrations directly at Seno. If she could cheer, she would have, but Bi Yani kept quiet, knowing her job and future were on the line.

“Ah. I’ve been on a business trip abroad for a while, so I haven’t been home. Wait... why am I explaining myself to you?” Seno snapped back, starting to resist the doctor’s probing questions. What was the doctor’s agenda?

“You seem to be interrogating me,” Seno protested again. The doctor sighed deeply before removing his medical mask.

“I’m Doctor Andre. I’m responsible for your wife’s safety. Pleased to meet you, Mr....” The doctor extended his hand toward Seno.

“Seno,” Seno replied, shaking the doctor’s hand as if sealing a business deal. It appeared they were engaged in a silent power struggle.

“Heh, you!”

Bi Yani flinched when Seno called out to her.

“Yes, sir?” she answered fearfully, lowering her head.

“Tomorrow, you’re fired! You’re completely incompetent! Lara always chooses the wrong people!”

“Sir... please,” Bi Yani pleaded, hoping Seno wouldn’t fire her.

“Sorry if I’m overstepping, but... this woman has been with the patient the entire time. I’m not sure firing her is the wisest decision. Would Mrs. Lara approve of that, Mr. Seno?” Doctor Andre interjected, staring intently at Seno.

Seno seemed to ponder the doctor’s words. Bi Yani felt a glimmer of hope shining her way.

“Uh... um, sir. Mrs. Lara forbade me from contacting you earlier. Then, a young woman came to your house,” Bi Yani finally revealed.

“W-what?” Seno’s face turned pale. He hadn’t anticipated that his affair had almost led to Lara’s miscarriage.

“Tell me! What did the girl look like?” Seno demanded.

“T-the young woman was slim, with heavy makeup. She had shoulder-length blonde hair and wore sunglasses. She was dressed in a tight, bright red outfit. Mrs. Lara was furious when the girl arrived,” Bi Yani answered, trembling.

“Damn.”

Doctor Andre appeared bewildered by the tangled web of Lara’s domestic issues, but he chose to remain silent.

“Olivia!” Seno muttered the name. Was that the girl’s name?

“I’ll be back!” he suddenly declared. Bi Yani nodded, lowering her gaze.

Soon after, she heard Seno’s footsteps receding, and his voice rising as he made a phone call, likely to the girl named Olivia.

Bi Yani’s suspicions were confirmed.

Olivia.

She was the thorn in her employer’s marriage. After Seno left, Bi Yani sat down, holding her breath. Slowly, she began to calm down. Seno’s sudden appearance had been completely unexpected, especially with his near-assault.

“Ma’am, are you okay?” The handsome doctor extended his hand, trying to help Bi Yani to her feet. She nodded and accepted his hand, though she was still unsteady.

“I-I’m okay,” she stammered.

Andre could see the fear etched in her expression. He hadn’t realized that Lara’s husband was so harsh and cruel.

“Is he always like that?” Andre asked, curious. Bi Yani remained silent. Yet, even her silence answered his question.

Seno really was tyrannical.

“Is he also like that with... um, Lara?” Andre couldn’t pass up the chance to voice the anxiety gnawing at him. Lara. She deserved better than a violent brute like Seno.

“N-no, Doctor.”

“Really?”

“Really. Mrs. Lara has never been hit, not once, since I’ve worked there.”

Andre sighed in relief. At least Lara hadn’t suffered physical abuse, which would have truly enraged him! But what about psychological abuse?

Was Seno really cheating on her?
