Chapter 4 # Operating Room

Meanwhile, in the operating room, Lara was fighting for her life. Unbeknownst to her, the doctor performing the surgery was an old friend she never wanted to meet again.

Andre.

Doctor Andre.

The doctor also never imagined that the patient on the operating table was Lara—the girl he had been searching for all these years.

"Doctor, I hope... my baby will be okay," Lara said with a trembling voice. She didn't even recognize Andre, leaving the doctor stunned. What had happened to her? And... did she just mention a baby? Was Lara married?

"Doctor!"

"Ah!"

For a moment, Andre was frozen, unable to move. Childhood memories of Lara Selene, his long-lost friend, flooded his mind. How could they meet again in such a tragic situation?

The nurse provided Lara with additional oxygen, while the surgical assistant continued operating the suction. They worked swiftly as Andre carefully continued stitching.

"The fetal heartbeat is stabilizing," the surgical assistant said with relief.

"Good!"

Andre pressed on with the operation, determined to stop the bleeding and ensure that the fetus in Lara's womb received enough oxygen. Lara was fighting for two lives—hers and her unborn child.

"Let's begin."

He quickly refocused on his primary task. The skilled medical team helped him start the critical rescue procedure. The surgery, which could take hours, began amidst the tension that filled the room.

The operating room was filled with the sounds of medical equipment, blinding surgical lights, and the swift movements of the surgical team. Lara's life and that of her unborn baby hung in the balance. Andre struggled to grasp the reality that Lara was pregnant.

"Now, we need to stop this bleeding. Suction, please," he ordered the surgical assistant beside him.

The surgical assistant promptly handed him the suction tool. Carefully, Andre worked to remove the blood accumulating in Lara's womb.

Lara looked incredibly pale, grimacing in pain despite not being fully conscious. On the cold operating table, she fought to save her baby's life, determined to survive.

The monitor constantly tracked the fetal heartbeat inside Lara's womb. Every second felt precious. They prayed that the fetus could be saved, as its mother wished.

"Apply pressure dressing!" Andre ordered, staying focused on Lara's body.

The pressure dressing was quickly placed on the area bleeding fresh blood. Carefully, it was tightened to stop the life-threatening bleeding. The assistants followed every step diligently, ready to assist.

"Monitor?"

"Stable."

The surgical team and nurses worked synergistically, prepared to support and respond to Andre's needs throughout the procedure. Meanwhile, in the midst of the surgery, Lara suddenly mumbled something, though unclear, as she was under local anesthesia. She tried to stay conscious, reciting prayers.

"Stop uterine oxygenation, I need to check for further bleeding," Andre said to the nurse beside him.

"Understood!"

The nurse quickly shut off the uterine oxygenation flow, allowing Andre to examine the still-bleeding area. The surgery tested all his knowledge and skills. His ambition to help Lara influenced every move he made.

"Nurse, give me the suture thread, quickly!" Andre ordered firmly.

The nurse promptly handed over the suture thread. Andre began carefully stitching Lara's wounds, trying to stop the bleeding inside her womb. Each stitch was a step toward safety.

"Hang in there, Lara. Please..." Andre murmured as he continued to diligently perform his duties.

Lara's survival depended on the skilled hands in the operating room and his determination. He could hear Lara continuously praying, igniting a fire within him to keep fighting for the unborn child.

"Doctor!"

A nurse shouted as the fetal heartbeat monitor suddenly showed a weakening pulse.

Tension began to dominate the surgical team. The silence was filled with panic and pressure.

"Give the patient extra oxygen, we must maintain the fetal heartbeat!"

"Understood!"

"Finally..."

After extraordinary efforts from the surgical team, the operation was completed. Andre sighed with relief, but their battle wasn't over yet.

"We've managed to stop the bleeding. Now, we need to keep the patient stable and monitor the fetus's progress," he said, wiping sweat from his forehead.

"Yes, Doctor!"

Lara remained unconscious on the operating table, but the fetal heartbeat monitor showed a stronger pulse. It was a huge relief.

The atmosphere in the operating room was still tense, but there was a deep sense of relief. They had weathered the storm and now had to monitor the long recovery process.

"We still have a lot of work to do," Andre said, smiling at each team member. "But we've given them a chance to survive. We must keep them strong."

The medical team nodded in agreement, understanding that their work was not yet done. They would continue to monitor Lara's progress and provide the necessary care during the recovery phase.

"Update the patient's guardian, Nurse."

"Yes, Doctor!"

After the surgery, one of the medical team members left the operating room to inform the patient's family about the surgery's outcome and her condition.

However, before Andre could confirm that the guardian had been informed, a commotion erupted outside. Unable to ignore it, Andre quickly rushed out of the operating room.

"What’s going on here?!"
