This was suffocating. Really. The fact that he was now my real legitimate husband would never spare my mind anymore!
----
He didn't talk until we made it to an unfamiliar but new-looking house. No, not just a house.
But a mansion.
Damn, where on Earth did he find his guts to choose this huge house to buy for us?! As if we're really living on it all day. We both have works, to the point that we could only stay under a house's roof during night time only. That's also rare.
My jaw dropped when I entered the huge estate. As if everything was already inside. I couldn't ask for more.
"D-Did you buy this? In an instant?" I was too stunned, I even stuttered. Wren only sat with me on the couch of the wide living room as he took his coat off and gave it to the waiting maid.
What on Earth? There were maids already? What would I expect? This was the Medina. I was married with a Medina!
"We have no time to choose a better estate and if you are not satisfied with the house I chose for us, I'll try waiting for a free day for us to find another one," he said without even stopping. Like he's prepared to tell it to me.
I froze in my surprise. "What? Why did you sound like I am not satisfied with our house?" For real? Who on the whole Universe would reject this place for a shelter?
Wren only shrugged when he leaned on the couch, beside me. "You didn't even say anything since we arrived."
I chewed my lower lip. "Me, not saying anything didn't mean I like this place."
"Then your silence means you're satisfied with our home?"
"Wren? I was even shocked that this much will be the place I'll enter," I replied and didn't how what I felt. I was not happy nor disappointed. I didn't know what to feel. It's not that I wouldn't get used to living in this huge place. The Ruiz houses were huge as well but this was kind of, in another level.
"So, you don't want it?" he asked. I could see how he's prepared to change the place we'd live because he's depending on my decision. And I didn't have the mood to waste his time for choosing shelters.
"No, that's not it. This place is actually too much but it's fine." When he finally heard my answer, he sighed and rested his head on the backrest of the sofa. "Good to hear it."
There, the silence reined. He seemed to be sleeping but I knew he wasn't.
He's Wren Medina, buying a house and lot was not even a "yes or no" to him. He could say yes and double his answer if he wanted to.
This frigging guy was raised in a wealthy family, and as he grows old, he grows money and wealth.
I decided to just sit and stare at him. He looked so tired.
And the wedding was just over earlier.
The wedding.
We just kissed as well.
Yes, we kissed.
His lips slightly parted that made my cheeks redden. But I was too wary to stay calm. I couldn't forget that, that was my first kiss. He was my first kiss.
And it's just a bit romantic, on my side.
He suddenly lifted his head higher and sat properly. I was startled, my body automatically settled on my seat.
He gazed at me with his sleepy eyes. So I returned a cold glance at him.
"Kiana," he called.
For the sake of myself, please stop blushing every time he talks to you, Kiana.
"Why? Are you tired? Get some sleep. And show me my bedroom," I told him and stood up. He headed upstairs and I followed him.
"What do you mean your bedroom?" he asked.
"My bedroom, show me where it is. You bought this place, right? So you surely know where this room and that room is---" He stopped walking and I almost bumped him. We're in front of a closed door.
"Okay, so this is my room, thanks." I was about to hold the doorknob when Wren opened the door first before me.
"Your bedroom? Stop kidding, Kiana. Our bedroom."
I flinched and challenged myself to stop blushing. And at least I succeeded by biting my lower lip.
"We'll stay in one room?" I questioned, acting like a naive woman who didn't have any idea why he wanted us to stay in one place.
Wren's brows creased and his sleepy eyes suddenly woke up and became lively when he gazed directly into my eyes. "So, is that bad? How was it supposed to be? That we need to have separate rooms?"
Why asking me that? It's up to him if that's what he wanted. But actually, I'd prefer sleeping in my own room than being with him, otherwise there would be no night that I'd fall asleep.
I looked away and struggled from thinking of an answer. "Well, it's up to you."
He leaned on the door with his crossed arms, staring at the bed.
Why was he staring at the bed and looking so disappointed?!
My brows met when he looked back at me. "We're a couple already."
"Yeah? I know," I answered. But we're just a couple by the marriage itself. Nothing's more to that.
"And a couple needs to be in one room," he added. When did he hear such a statement?
Even if half of me found his words inconsistent, I still nodded my head. "Yes, so that implies we need to stay in one room. Since we're already married. That's what you're pointing out, isn't it?"
He entered the place and sat on the bed, I wasted no time so I coldly followed him inside, leading myself to the couch by the window part.
"Exactly? And if you already get that from the start. Why even asking for a separate room?" I closed my eyes and threw my gaze away from his part. "B-Because we're not close. We didn't have this thing called friendship from the start. So why would I stay in a single bedroom with a guy who I can't even laugh my jokes with?"
But then, his smirk showed up. "We aren't close? Really? Kiana?" He laughed. "You made me laugh."
My heart began pounding so fast. Something made me feel nervous. And I know, Wren's aware of what made me feel uneasy.
"You talk like nothing happened between us before," he reminded and his voice was intentionally teasing me so my mind could be distracted by what had happened, in the past.
I stood up like a statue. "Yes, we are not close, Wren."
He smirked as he walked toward me with his hands hidden on his pockets. Wren halted when he's beside me. "You say so, I understand. Making you remember what's before is kind of making things awkward and uncomfortable between us."
"I am still a considerate guy, Kiana. I understand you right now just like how I understood you back then. If reminding you about the things you're pretending that you'd forgotten these days will surely make you feel uneasy." He leaned closer to whisper into my ear. I was still glued; not finding a way to move and couldn't do anything at all. "I will not reminisce what's in the past then. For the sake of our status."
I breathed heavily. "Then why did you need to blow up a hint of what had happened earlier?"
His hum was heard by me, clearly. It was teasing. "Why? I just tested you. You're still getting affected by it."
"Who told you that?" I laughed. "I am not affected, sorry."
I walked away and looked back at him. "Okay, we were close before and it's not that we can't tell that we didn't happen back then. But that was in the past. Do not test me anymore."
Because as of now, I wanted you to think that I got over you already. That I wasn't the one you know before. But the truth was, I was still that Kiana you met years ago. I just needed to become a new one, I have my pride.
I didn't want you, Wren. To think that I married you because I still love you even though you don't love me anymore.
He grinned at me. "Fine, I made a reckless topic. I didn't want to spit it out as well, anyway."
I closed my eyes and crossed my arms. "Then that finals it. I'll be sleeping in a single room with you. As your wife."
So you would not suspect me anymore.
After dinner, which was a really awkward that it almost creeped the understanding maids out, I hurriedly went back to our room to fix my things in the right place. It took me two hours to organize my clothes in my closet and the other things I brought in their right places. Tomorrow morning's an off from work. Because of the wedding occasion, I have been spared with days as my day offs so I could handle my marriage issues with my family and husband and the rest.I lied down my bed after drying up my wet hair. And he recently entered the room, looking surprised that I was already in the bed.I realized that I looked like some excited wife who wanted to sleep with his husband! Right! It's still past 9am and I was already prepared to sleep. So that's why he's giving me a look that was filled with mischief."It's not what you think it was," I coldly said and got up from the bed so he wouldn't misunderstand. We left from the hosuse right away after the maids helped me pack some pair of my clothes. If I were to calculate how long have we traveled before arriving by the said place for the honeymoon, it's three hours straight. I didn't throw querries to him since we left that's why I did not epect tha we'd head on a private resort. The only thing I could manage to do was to part my lips and it could part forever after I knew that he already plotted the reservations for rooms and all acivities one could do in the resort. Sun finally went down the horizon by the edge of the sea. When the stars appeared with the bright moon from above as it reflected its clear round image on the ocean, I looked at my reflection in the mirror once again. I pinched my cheeks because they started reddening for the nth time. The night would be cold but there's a chance that my hot cheeks would be able to stop me from shivering later. I was properly dressed. This is not what I was expecting as my night would be. It's supposed to be fun and loud and there would be a lot of drinks served before me. But Wren told me that we'd drink the whole night in a ferry for dinner. That's actually fine with me but it's not what I really wanted. I didn't want to reject his dinner offer knowing he already reserved a ferry for a single, fancy, honeymoon dinner. It would be a waste of money if he'd cancel it because I didn't want to go. Since I was certain that he'd immediately waste the ferry reservation just because I didn't arrive. That'
We drove back home immediately and Wren's plan to stay by the resort for another day was cancelled. It was cancelled due to some important reasons and the other reasons were about something we both knew but none of us had mentioned. The car was so quiet but the air was extremely densed. No one's trying to start a conversation. As if our lips were shut by the small pieces of memories we could recall, and it's all about the night we had yesterday. My hands were tingling over my lap, Wren could notice the discomfort since he's seated beside me. His eyes glimpsed on my side fleetingly. He sighed. "Is there something wrong?" He finally ruined the silence. I hope the car was relieved when he finally made a sound. "I am fine, why did you ask?" Okay, I am not actually okay. Because I've been overthinking about the both of us, drunk in bed and we slept together. Wren shrugged. "I just feel like you aren't okay. Do you feel uncomfortable whenever we're in the same car?" I was busy searching my keycar in my bag when Wren suddenly popped up into my sight. He's leaning on his parked car and his calm posture on it seemed like someone who's waiting for someone. I gulped and my feet almost took their steps backward but I controlled myself. Our eyes met. He smirked at me. This was unfair, he just smirked like he's teasing me while this was me, blushing and dying in my face's redness. "What's up. How's your day?" he asked. "It's not how great as it is," I replied and stood up in front of him. "Why are you here? If you're planning to drive me home, I have my own car." "Where's your... car? I don't see it anywhere," Wren asked, looking at the whole parking lot. I roamed my eyes as well and tried cupping my keycar in my bag but I couldn't find it anywhere. And I realized, I didn't drive myself at work this morning. "I'll accompany you to where your car is. And then we'll both drive at home together." I hooked my bag on my shoulder and was ready to leave from my office for lunch when my phone rang. I had hesitations in responding to the one who's calling me. But ended up answering it. "Hello, what is up?" I started as my phone drew closer to my ear. I flinched when he formally coughed across the call. "Are you free right now?""Yes, is there something urgent? We're both piled up every day and our only chance to see each other was during night time. The days made me busy that living in the workplace would be better than going home to finish my tasks. Good thing I've finished it all and I finally have a rest day considered for me today. Instead of locking myself in our bedroom to take a nap for the whole day, I went to Wren's building to pay him a meaningless visit. But for his workers, I visited him with all the kinds of sweet meanings since I am his wife that they're informed about. "So he's not here?" I asked, uninformed that Wren's not in his office right now that I paid him a visit for the first time. Great timing. But his Secretary's here. "I'm sorry Ma'am, he was called for a sudden meeting. Should I leave a message to him here for you? Did something urgent happen that you needed him? You can stay here if you want," her Secretary responded with all hospitatility. "No, it's fine. I don't have anything to say that is important." It was such an ashame to come here without knowing what he's currently doing. "Haven't he tex
Wearing a proper dress and showing formal gestures would be enough as my appearance to Wren's relatives. I've been very aware that they would expect a fancy dinner that wearing formal dresses was a must as well. Or I was just overreacting in how I see the family of Medina.
