5. He said it!!

After taking a nap, I heard Ruby knocking at my door along with shouting to open the door. Hm... Kay knows that she is up to something to make her mood worse.

When Kay opened the door, she saw a furious Ruby.

"What's the matter, Ruby? Were you trying to break my door??"

"Kaylynn, Are you out of your mind??" She was annoyed.

"Ruby, tell me what have I done now to irk you??" Kay asked as she knew Ruby would have found something to fight.

"Whom do you think you are to say that the girls under the age of eighteen also should participate in night patrolling. Not only that, girls from the age of ten are also needed to attend the compulsory training from tomorrow onwards..."

So that's her problem. Unlike Kay, Ruby hated training and hard-working jobs. She was all into beauty-related things as she wanted to become a model in future. Since childhood, Kay was a hardworking child whereas Ruby didn't need to do anything. Their mother treated these two daughters differently. Now, as it came out, as a rule, no one is an exception.

"So that's your problem..." Kay said.

"Yes, it is. I heard from Dad, who was proudly saying that these stupid ideas of yours were accepted by the alpha. What's your problem, Kay?? If you like you can go and do training and night patrolling. But why are you forcing others, those who aren't interested in it? It's not like we are living in the stone age that there is going to be a war or something."

"You are right. We aren't living in that time. But it doesn't mean that we won't get attacked. The number of security breaches on our borders is increasing. I suggested training the girls not to push them to fight, but for their safety. They should know basic self-defense..."

"Bull shit... you and your stupid ideas... " she muttered and went away from there. Then I saw mom coming, who continued cursing me just because I was making Ruby's mood bad. Hmm... just great!! 

I didn't feel like staying there. So I changed my clothing and went out. Kade was back from the office and he was tired.

"Hey, you look awful...!!" I commented after trying to hide the laugh by watching his pity face.

"Don't hide... just laugh it out... our dear future alpha is crazy. He made me check past years' auditing files which I don't have any idea about what I was doing... And now I have a severe headache too..."

"Aww.. Don't be sad. Go and take a warm bath, by that time I will prepare you my special chicken soup. After that, you can sleep... okay...??"

"Thanks, Kay, I think I need a soak itself. I will be back in half an hour, make the soup ready..."

After Kade left, Kay went to the kitchen. Even though there were servants to prepare food, Kay often cooks there, either for her, Dad or Kade. After chit-chatting with the servants, she cooked her special soup and brought it to Kade's room. He was all ready and waiting with a hungry tummy.

"Mmm... it smells so good... Your mate must be so lucky to have you!!" He commented and I gulped then plastered a cheesy smile.

"You don't need to praise me to get my handmade soup in the future too.." 

Then as if Kade remember something, he asked, 

"Yesterday was your birthday. You were supposed to find your mate. But you haven't said anything about it??"

Kay knows that if she shares it Kade will keep it a secret. But for now, things are just so complicated that she doesn't feel like sharing with him.

"I wasn't lucky enough to find my mate yesterday... Sometimes we will have to wait, right??"

"Oh sorry. Yep, you are right... otherwise, by this time, I would have found my mate too." He sighed.

"Don't worry, you will find her soon. Anyways, take a rest, I should get going. The new rules responsibilities are on me. So I am a little busy right now."

"You haven't taken up the position as the beta, but you're so busy now itself. Are you giving me a show darling!!" He teased that I smacked his head and went out.

I haven't seen Gavin since the elevator incident. Hm... it's good. I mind linked those who were in charge of the night patrolling and ran towards the borders. I explained each section about the new rule and how it is going to get implemented. After explaining each section, I reached the main entrance. I have called the technical staff and checked the CCTV covering and even discussed using drones if needed. I was in the middle of a conversation when I noticed Gavin's Porsche coming towards the entrance. I got a sneak peek of Gavin looking at my side, and Amelia was next to him who was busy on her phone. For the rest of a few seconds, I had this uneasiness of facing his burning gaze. As his car went out of my sight, I sighed in relief.

I checked the previous footage and found that CCTV was taken down first by the intruders so that we won't be getting glimpses of anything from them. It was like a well-planned attack and those who encountered them have said that they are well trained as a ninja, and didn't have the scent of rogue. That means some other pack or packs are trying to take us down.

After discussing with the technical team, I went with the few she-wolves in whom I had the confidence and placed them along with the male patrolling team, so that they will get used to the routine. It was almost night, so I planned to go back for dinner. Then I thought about going for a run in the woods. There was moonlight and the climate was so good. But I haven't gone to the woods alone. Kade would always accompany me. 

I thought to do a quick run and come back soon. So I shifted and kept the clothes in my mouth and ran to the woods. My fur was moving like waves in the breeze, and I moved forward enjoying the beauty of the moon. My paws hardly touched the ground and the fallen leaves were calling out my arrival. As I reached the middle of the forest, I had this urge to go to the lakeside. But that place is not that safe. Because opposite to the lake is another common territory. That means even rogues could be there. But they hardly cross the lake as the current is too strong to handle for a normal strong wolf.

I was almost there when I had this feeling that somebody was following me. My senses got alerted and I was searching for any scent. But then like a wind I heard something from behind, and when I turned around there was a big brown wolf standing in front of me... In the second he jumped towards me and I moved to the side. But surprisingly he wasn't in attacking mode. And the scent was of... Gavin...!!

In the next second, his wolf came towards me, I could feel that only his wolf was in control and that it may try to claim me even without Gavin's approval. I moved away from him showing my disapproval. Maya wanted to take over too... But I immediately shifted back and cut her out of my mind. 

For a second I forgot that I was standing naked in front of him. I went behind the tree and said, 

"Gavin, I know it's you... Shift back..." I said it like a command while wearing clothes. I know the alpha blood in him won't allow accepting the command. But surprisingly he shifted back. And by the time I came behind the tree, he was in his trousers. His chest was bare and it looked so perfect with the toned abs following. No... no... Kaylynn... didn't fall for his goodies and charms... but it wasn't working... Thank God, he can't see me blushing uncontrollably. He looked at me like he was in a trance. 

"Gavin...!!" Before I could say something, he strode towards me with his long legs and pinned me against the tree. I was so shocked to respond, and I could see him looking at me with so much passion that it made my mind confused. His full body was pressed into me and I started to feel some unknown feelings inside me. I was caged in between the tree and him. I tried to move sideways but he blocked it with his arms while smirking. And that brought me back to the reality of what kind of jerk he is.

"Gavin, what are you doing??" I yelled at him.

He leaned near to my ears and whispered while fanning his breath to my ears.

"Don't you know what I would want to do to you... miss sexy legs??"

I closed my eyes as his teasing question and closeness were taking, making me feel some unknown feelings...

"Gavin, you should move away from me.." I said while struggling to control my unsteady breathing... and I punched on his waist sidewise.

"Ouch... feisty!!  Mmm... Or else what would you do, my beautiful MATE !!" 

It was like a shiver passing through me... He finally said it. He said that I am his mate...!! My eyes opened wide in the next second and saw him looking at me eye to eye. His eyes went lower and lower and got fixed on my lips... which was almost trembling in need to be kissed by the destined other half...

But Kaylynn can't do this... she is not an option...!!

As he leaned in she moved away from her face sidewise so that the kiss landed on her cheeks.

'Mmm... ' she heard him grunt in displeasure as she moved away. But his lips were pressed tightly to her cheeks that she felt goosebumps all over the body. 

"Gavin, stop this... " she whimpered.

"Why would I do that... Mate...?? Why were you keeping away from me... Don't you like me??" he asked and moved his face away from mine but didn't leave me out of his hold.

His words enraged Kay. Mate?? Is he stupid or something? Or does he think that I am that desperate for him...!!

"Mate?? Like seriously?? How could you call me that without any shame?? " Kay asked with fury. Gavin isn't responding but not leaving her as well. He leaned in again and took a whiff of her then suddenly he moved away from her. Kay was confused with his actions. But she didn't stay there for one more second. She was running back to the forest in wolf form, that's when she got the scent of a 'rogue'. 

Not one, but many of them. Which means they are near and must be targeting something. Then she remembered Gavin being alone in the human form, and he might be off guarded too...
