I hope you're enjoying reading about the ceremony and the fights. Don't forget to vote, comment, or rate. I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you God! Nick's fluke of good luck finally stopped as Axel beat his ass, reminding him just how weak he really was. Of course Christopher won, but Darius put up a good fight. I wonder who he guards, because they should feel really safe with him around. Can I poach a guardian? Cause I would totally have that guy on my team. Knowing that I'll be bound to either Axel or Christopher is killing me. The reality of this shi.t is really starting to settle in now. My stomach is in knots and my nausea is through the roof. I've decided that if I need to puke, I'd be sure to do it on Isaac. Fu.ck him. There was a small break before the final round. The sun was low in the sky and I was ready for this whole thing to just be done already. I honestly could have spent my day better. I could have trained, or sparred. I could have worked on controlling the darkness. I could have spent time with Kiran. So many things I could have been doing rather than sitting here, watching my fate be decided fo
"I wasn't expecting you to fight dirty." Christopher's voice came from behind me outside of the coliseum."I wasn't expecting to be kissed by a stranger." I snapped at him, still feeling his bite on my lower lip. "That's the way to seal the bond, wife." He said the word mockingly. "You're going to make me throw up." I pretended to gag and he let out a chuckle. "You're not what I expected." He mused. "I never am. You're not exactly who I expected to win either. So I guess we're even on that front." I looked out to try and see if I could find Sebastian in the crowd. Maybe I could have him travel me to Kiran. I am sure someone would come get us to come back tomorrow anyway. The crowd from the stands were starting to come out, making it harder to find anyone. Everyone was congratulating us and it just angered me more. "Fu.ck off." I snapped at a guy who told me I was a disgrace to shadow weavers. "Let's go." Christopher came up from behind me, laying his hand on my shoulder before t
We arrived and I could see the pack house in the distance. There were a lot of people around and I wasn't sure I really wanted to deal with them all, but I knew I really wanted to see Kellan, Percy, Emerson and Tally. I'll wad through a crowd and bear the attention for them, but only for them. "Hey, Zae. Welcome back." Percy's voice snatched my attention from the pack house. I turned to find him, Kiran, Emerson, Tally, Everett, Tate and Electra standing amongst the trees. They were all grinning widely and I matched their smile happily. "I figured you'd prefer this, over that." He pointed to the group and then to the pack house. "You figured right." I smiled at him before turning to Kiran and running towards him, wrapping my arms around him in a tight embrace. His muscles seem to have grown again as they caged around me with such strength. "I missed you." I whispered. "I missed you too." He kissed my lips tenderly, licking at the bite that Christopher made like he could wipe it away
Kellan's P.O.V. My father had shown me so much of the city. There were so many places and things I never thought possible down here. I met the rest of our family, king and queen included. I'd even met a beautiful girl that for once didn't make me think of Zerena. My father has been training me to use my siren abilities better. He's taught me how to hone my magic with pearls too. I was good with mind manipulation, but my father taught me how to detect when someone is in my own head. He even taught me how to push deep inside someone's head to find information or memories.Today he taught me how to bury someone's memory so they would forget whatever we wanted them to. There was so much we could do that I had no idea about. It was crazy exactly how much Alester had robbed me of. I should have grown up here. I should have been the best siren around. I would have been talented and rich and spoiled as fu.ck, probably just as insufferable as now, but with a better life. "Kellan, would you
Zerena's P.O.V."What can I tell you? It's your house. I didn't make it." Christopher shrugged at my discontent at the sheet size of this supposive mansion. You might as well call this thing a small castle. Christopher came and got Kiran and I way before we were ready. We'd stayed up so late having fun that we never really packed. Christopher told us not to bother as his patience was thin and this place is supposedly stocked with clothes already. It was a light yellow color with stone walls and wooden shutters. It has a dark, almost black, wooden double doors with gold handles. When you first enter you're greater by a large entryway with a massive coat closet and shoe rack. Apparently this is called a mudroom…rich people. Anyway, past that was the living room, that felt more like a large as.s party room. From the living room you could take one of four paths. One lead to a massive kitchen that Kiran practically wet his pants for. The second path lead to a large game room with a pool
Christopher's P.O.V.I thought I had lucked out when they told me that Shay and Ezekiel's daughter had been found and returned. I remember being introduced to her as a baby when I was only 4 years old. She was beautiful even then, with those piercing lilac eyes and dark black hair. Although that deep purple she has dyed it suits her better. I never would have thought she would have found her intertwined already. It's so rare, but only because we never really leave the shadow colony. Now here I am ruining her life when that's the last thing I'd ever wanted. She's been through so much already and here I am making it worse. Damn Isaac. I'm going to make him unbind her shadows today. He doesn't have the right to do that to her. It's too bad I won't be able to get him to remove our mark too. He's a stubborn traditionalist and there's nothing that would make him release us from this bond. "Elder Miles." Sebastian greeted me with a curt nod. "Elder Looms." I nodded back. I felt bad for h
Zerena's P.O.V.Hearing about everything Kellan has learned these past two days has been amazing. I couldn't help the grin that stayed on my face till my cheeks hurt. Kiran kept his arms around me from behind as Kellan recounted the tales of the siren city. He told us he met the king and queen and that they're even related. Puts his prince charming costume into a whole new perspective. Of course I teased him about it, but for once he laughed alongside me. "I keep hearing your voice in my head constantly teasing me every time I learn something new. I hear Emerson's laugh and Tally's little giggle at times." His shoulders slumped some. "I really miss you guys." I shoved his shoulder a bit, trying to get him to lighten up. "Quit it. We're not far and the moment you link, we're here. You could have linked us sooner if you were really missing us." I teased him. "I didn't want to bother you all." He admitted, hurting my heart a bit in the process. "You're not a bother, Kellan." I assur
Kellan's P.O.V.It was nice seeing and talking with everyone this afternoon. Zerena said exactly what we all needed to hear. I don't know how she was able to say that to us like that. She's so damn strong all around, but it seems more so emotionally right now. I currently have this big beaming joy in my heart. I swam down the way my father taught me. I could see the bright lights of the city lighting up the dark ocean floor. I know I am still good on time for the party, so I'll head to the house first and fix myself up. Time to clean my tail and put the wax stuff on. Hopefully that'll help brighten my own scales. I did like my father instructed and coated my scales with a good helping of wax. They were so shiny it was almost blinding. My upper body was toned well, showing my abs off. Father had given me some other cream to put on my torso for the party. It helped make it look like my skin was shining in a way too. It looked like my skin had been oiled or something. "You look ready.
I traveled to the spot in the yard, not believing my eyes from that distance. I approached the figure in the moonlight cautiously. He turned when he heard me step on a twig. That long black hair and dark eyes met mine. He smiled widely at me, swooning my heart the way he use to. “Percy?” I cried. “Hey, Zae.” “You as.shole.” I went to punch him but my hand went right through him. He laughed at me. “I figured you’d try to hit me. Sorry I don’t have a body anymore to hit.” He shook his head at me. “I’m sorry, Zae.” “You should be. You have no idea how much this has hurt. Damit Perc, you should have told me. I would have stopped it!” I yelled at him, tears flowing out of me like a waterfall. “You couldn’t have. Trust me, I didn’t want to leave our Ares, but it was the only way.” He sighed. His transparent hand reached for my face. I could feel him the same way I feel the air across my cheek. “Our Ares could really use a visit from you.” I told him. “I only have one more of
8 years later“Happy birthday Ares!” We all yelled, trying to surprise him, but who were we kidding he already knew.“I knew you wouldn’t forget.” He smiled at us all. “Auggie said everyone had forgotten about my birthday and that’s why no one had said it to me yet.”“Augustus Daimen Barlowe! Did you really tell your brother that?” Kiran scolded him.“I thought if he believed it he would actually be surprised.” Augustus explained.“I’ll talk to him, keep the party going.” Kiran told me, kissing my temple, before pointing to the door to let Augusutus know to walk out.I hugged Ares, holding him tightly for a long moment before he complained.“Mom.”“Sorry
Topher had already finished here. He was wrapping the elders up. We don’t plan on killing them or imprisoning them. They just won’t be in power anymore. I know they won’t like it, but with only a few elders they won’t be able to go against a whole army. We’ll be changing a lot around here, starting with the parties and classist shi.t. Obviously the higher class will hate it, but since they are few, I’m not worried about it. “Everything go well in the North?” Topher asked me, wrapping his arm around my waist and kissing my temple. “Easy as pie.” I assured him. “Yeah, especially after she went all devil on us.” Isaiah smirked. “You did?” Topher asked, obviously not liking the fact. He didn’t like me using that side of myself much. “Yes, just for a little while. I’m fine, don’t worry.” I assured him. He looked at me for a while, assessing me, before nodding his head. He kissed my forehead now, letting his lips linger there. He let his arm wrap around me further, until his hand
2 months later.“It’s gotta be simultaneous.” I told them all, through a mass shadow message. I stared down the elder’s building with group 1 at my side. I decided to take down the north elders, while Topher led the west rebellion group. We had a good amount of people with us in each colony. Our civil war begins. Only it won’t be a war, it’ll be one battle, and we will come out victorious.‘We’re ready in the south.’ Felix, the leader of the south, responded with his own shadow message.‘Say the word and we’ll attack.’ Helena from the East sounded ready to b
It’s been a month now since the battle with Alester. Percy’s funeral hit me hard, breaking me further. I almost couldn’t bring myself to go. Kiran and Topher dragged my as.s there, not giving me a choice in the matter. I saw Allie, her beautiful innocent eyes were puffy from all the crying. She admitted to me that she knew what was going to happen. She told me Percy had asked her not to tell anyone, and that he had set things up for Ares. Apparently Electra had been helping him see into the future. She admitted that she would be joining him soon too. It was almost poetic…almost. It’s so damn heart breaking. I am not sure there is a heart left in me. It feels so hollow in my chest, like it’s run away, unable to take the pain anymore. The only times I felt a remnant of it, were when I was with August or Ares, or when I’d look at Jesse’s ultrasound. She’s not shadow kissed like Augustus. She’s like Ares, in my normal womb. Topher and Kiran did their best at trying to cheer me up, or a
Zerena’s P.O.V.No! God No!Percy’s lifeless body laid at Alester’s feet, his eyes open, staring at Ares. I kept waiting to see him heal. Kept waiting to see him move, to get back up and pummel Alester before him. I watched him for a while, completely dumbfounded. This isn’t real, this isn’t happening. I haven’t lost Kiran and Percy just now. Kiran will come back with his Phoenix, and Percy will heal. They have to. They can’t leave me.A thick sadness was beginning to envelope me. I felt the cold seeping into my bones, as the darkness began to over take me, feeding on my depression. I felt it turning all the heartache in me into an unbridled rage. I looked at Alester now, who had Percy’s heart still in his hand, burning it to Ash befo
Percy's P.O.V. Zae had made her announcement to everyone. I thought it was sweet of her to go along with Topher's plan to have an announcement party. This is how it should have gone. A baby with only the person she chose and not because some crazy bastard gave her a sea witch's potion. I watched as everyone congratulated her. She actually accepted the hugs. God, I hope she continues to open up after I'm gone. I wrote her a letter too. I put it where I knew she'd find it after my funeral. I hope she takes the advice I wrote for her. Everyone was having fun. I watched as Zae's people all intermingled. It was like watching the many parts of Zea's life come together beautifully. Eventually, the party had started to whine down. The first to leave was group 1, followed by Zea's parents, and then Tate and Alara with her twin, Alexis, plus Maple left. Kellan had decided to stay a while longer to talk to Dex about water portalling. Rain and her mate, Nate, left as well. The only ones he
Zerena’s P.O.V.“How does this look?” Kiran asked, when he finished the icing on the cake.“Looks great!” I smiled at him, kissing his cheek. “Thank you, Kiran.”I was actually excited for today. I never thought I would be a big announcement kind of gal, but I think that I am. I really like the idea of surprising everyone today. Topher and I have been over the moon about our baby girl. I can’t wait to share the news with everyone. I am so very lucky to have Percy. I don’t think I would have noticed I was pregnant for at least another month. I am also so grateful that he has saved me time with naming all these children. Already knowing their names and their genders has been very convenient.
Percy’s P.O.V.Dearest Ares,I know you’re going through a hard time right now. It’s hard to be in love with someone who doesn’t feel the same way as you. I felt this way about your mother for the longest time. I know it is difficult, especially to watch them be happy with someone else. I promise you, it will get better. You will find your mate soon, and the pain you are feeling will be a distant memory.Stay by her side, fight through the pain, my son. She will need you when your brother inevitably breaks her heart. It will hurt, but you’ll have to help fix them in order to find your own happiness. I know you have a great heart. I can already see how morally grounded you are. You will make the right decision. I have faith in you.&nb
