"Alpha, another letter has arrived for you." Mandry announced, earning Celus' attention. He sat in his office with his Beta and the Alpha of Crest Wing pack, residing in England.
He was a tall pale man with light blonde hair and light grey eyes. A deep scar was prominent on his right cheek and a snarl gracing his lips.
"What are you doing here." Alpha Krey growled, not liking the sudden interruption.
"Now, Alpha Krey, I apologize. Thank you Mandry, please just set it by the door." She gave him an apologetic look before closing the door slowly. Not many were a fan of Krey. He wasn't a very friendly man. He had it in his head that he was to be treated higher than any other Alpha, and he thought he could take over any pack if he wanted to.
"As I was saying, I haven't had any issues on my land, and I don't plan on it any time soon. I am not sure what kind of help you are searching for, but I feel I won't be of any use to you." Krey growled.
"Now Krey, do you remember when you were being threatened by a rogue pack and my pack and I traveled to your land and helped you fight?" Celus straightened in his chair and growled.
"I am well aware of the instance. However, I did not ask for your help. My pack and I had everything completely under control." He scoffed, not liking the fact that Celus doubted the strength of his pack.
"Krey, when we arrived you were losing. I am not going to argue over this with you, but just know that if you walk out of this office with the same attitude you have now, our peace treaty will no longer stand. We will see how strong your pack is then." Celus' eyes turned a shade darker. His wolf didn't like his disrespect after everything he has done for them.
"Is that a threat Landrews?" He growled, slamming his fists on the table.
"No." Celus stood. "I promise you." They got nose to nose before Brady stood and shoved them apart.
"Alphas, please. We don't want to start a war." They both took a step back, still standing stiffly. "Can we please get back to our previous conversation?" Both males growled, Krey dropping himself into his seat with a huff.
"Excuse me. I need a moment." Celus excused himself and grabbed Salen's letter before walking into the hallway. Brady gave him a confused look, but he just ignored it.
Celus ripped open the envelope, ignoring the irritated feeling he was having.
Reading the letter made him feel even more uneasy. What kind of secrets was she talking about? He needed to help her, no matter the cost.
Celus shoved his way through his office door and sat in his chair with confidence.
"Krey, what do you know about Alpha Darron Kinsley?" Krey straightened us and clasped his hands, clearing his throat.
"Oh wow. I haven't heard his name in a long time. Darron Kinsley is not a nice man. He is sneaky and hires others to do his dirty work." Celus raised his eyebrow in confusion.
"What kind of dirty work?" Krey snarled.
"Word is he is not a true Alpha." Celus gasped.
"What? What do you mean?" He growled.
"Apparently his father took over the Moon Dust Pack before Darron was born. According to rumors, he partnered with rogues and took over the pack by force, overthrowing the Alpha and erasing any of their history." Celus was dumbfounded.
"How did I not know any of this?" He growled.
"He did it all on the down low so no one was suspicious. I only know, because my cousin's mate came from that pack. No one knows if it's even true, that's just what I heard." He scratched his chin and sighed. "Why so interested in the Moon Dust Pack all of a sudden?"
Celus examined the Alpha. He wasn't sure if he could trust him with his secrets. "It's...not important. I was just curious is all." He grunted, slumping back in his chair.
"Well is this meeting over? I would like to get back to my land to see my mate." He pushed himself up out of his chair and held his hand out to Celus. Celus took it and shook firmly.
"Well it was nice meeting with you." Both Alphas stood in an awkward silence before Krey dismissed himself.
Celus groaned and dropped his head onto his desk. Brady pulled the chair up in front of him and straddled it, giving his friend a concerned look-over.
"What's going on? Is there something I can help with?" He asked, watching Celus shake his head without looking up. "Celus." He grunted. "Come on. Maybe I can help you." Celus slowly lifted his head, and Brady could finally see the exhaustion in his eyes.
"I don't know Brady. I am just so on edge with everything going on in Darron's pack; mostly with Salen. I just don't know what to do right now. I haven't been able to think let alone think." He groaned.
"You mean sleep?" Brady chuckled at his word stutter. Celus smiled and rolled his eyes.
"Yes. That's what I meant. Thanks." He laughed and shook his head.
"You just need to go to bed for a while. I can take care of things here. You aren't doing anyone any good like this." Celus nodded.
"I'm going to try." He lifted himself slowly and organized the papers on his desk in a neat pile. "I need to do something first."
"What's that?" Brady stood by his side, waiting for him to tell him what to do.
"I need to find the book of Alphas." Brady took a step back.
"The book of Alphas? No one has seen that in a long time." Celus nodded.
"I need to take a trip. Pack your bags Brady, we're going to Italy." Celus walked towards his room with Brady hot on his tail.
"Italy? What for?" He asked, rushing to keep up with the Alpha's long legs.
"My aunt is Luna of a pack there, and she may have an idea of where my grandparents hid the book." He grabbed a suitcase from the back of his closet and began throwing in some clothes off hangers. He made sure to grab his watch that his father gave him.
"I remember when he gave that to you." Brady sat at the edge of his bed, watching Celus pack. "He was a good man." Celus stood still, looking down at the watch. Besides the pack, this was the only thing his father passed down to him before he passed away.
"It's just weird not having them here. I wanted to be Alpha, but I wanted it the right way." He sighed and finished packing, zipping up his suitcase. "Go pack so we can go. I'll meet you downstairs with the car in ten minutes.
Brady gave him a sympathetic look before going down the stairs to his room.
"Alpha." Mandry stopped him in the hallway. "If you don't mind me asking, where are you going?"
"I need to make a visit to my aunt. I will be back in a few days. Lane will be in charge while I'm away." Lane was one of Celus' friends and his third in command. He had bright red hair and freckles covering most of his face. He was fairly tall with brown eyes and light facial hairHe found his mate while they were young, so he moved out of the pack house and into a small cottage by a nearby river.
"I understand. Would you like me to tell Salen?" He sighed.
"No. Not yet at least. I need to make sure I find what I'm looking for before anyone hears about this. Just keep an eye on things and let me know if anything happens." She bowed slightly and dismissed herself to the kitchen where a few pack mothers were making dinner for everyone. "Goodbye ladies. I'll be back in three days." He gave them a tight smile and headed towards the garage where they held all the vehicles that were needed for the members.
Pulling out his cell phone, he dialed his aunt's phone number before holding it to his ear and listening to it ring. After a few moments she picked up.
"Hello this is Luna Jaden. Who is this calling?" Her familiar voice rang through his ears, causing a tightness in his chest.
"It's Celus." He grumbled, suddenly realizing why he hasn't talked to her in a while.
"Oh my gosh, Celus! It's been so long since I've heard your voice. How is everything?" He growled.
"Fine. I'm headed to your pack. I need your help with something. Just tell your mate to let us into his territory. We will be there in about six hours." He hung up and threw his phone into the car before starting the engine.
Brady was out a minute later with his bag in hand before they were off towards the airport.
The plane ride lasted four hours. Celus slept most of the way there, sleep finally taking him over. He called a cab as the two men grabbed their luggage from baggage claim, weaving their way through the large crowd. Jaden had arranged for them to be picked up at a rest stop just outside their border.Celus was feeling restless as they drove closer and closer to the only family he had left. Brady gave him a concerned look as his friend bounced his leg in anticipation, but he didn't say a word. He knew how Celus was feeling, and he didn't want to amplify it.
Celus loaded their luggage into the back of the SUV while Brady said their goodbyes for them. Jaden continuously glanced towards her nephew, but knew at that moment it was hopeless to expect anything from him.Slamming the trunk shut, Celus gave his aunt one last glance. Her eyes were filled with tears, but she didn't leave her mate's side. He was too tired to fight with her anymore. All he wanted was to be close with his mate.
Eleven thirty rolled around faster than anyone expected. Salen and Margaret stood outside the dungeons, waiting for Samuel to arrive with his men."I sure hope they're okay." Margaret whispered, pulling her jacket tighter around her body. The brisk October air sent cold chills up Salen's spine.
Celus sat across from the stranger who was now mated to his friend. She explained what had happened between her and Salen and why she was sent to his land."I was originally the mate to Darron. I don't understand how this happened." She looked at Brady in admiration."I don't know how th
Celus stood in nothing but a pair of shorts as he waited for Tax to join him in the entrance way. It was ten minutes until six, but he enjoyed showing up to things early.Celus pushed away the sound of his stomach growling as he bit into a bright red apple. The crunching sound covered up the exhausted feeling he had; the sleep he had gotten the night before only increasing the heavy feeling.
"Celus, honey. It's time to wake up." Mandry shook his shoulders, pulling him from his deep sleep.Celus groaned, looking over at the clock that rested on his end table. It read '11:50 p.m.'. He shot up and threw the blankets off his body, scrambling to his closet on the opposite side of the room.
It was the morning of Darron and Salen's mating ceremony, and Celus ran around like a mad man. He had been training non-stop for the past four days with Tax, and it was starting to take a tole on his body. This was going to be a three-day event. Today will be the introduction of the mating pair. Salen will be presented to the pack along with all the Alpha courts from surrounding packs. She will be dressed in white to symbolize purity of the soul, and is required to attend the ceremony barefoot. There will be a ball to help submerge her into the Luna position.
Celus stood in a black suit and tie next to Brady and the rest of his court. The ballroom was filled with Alphas and their mates, along with any guests they brought with them.Darron stood in the center of the dance floor, talking with nearby Alphas. His body was rigid as he did his best to ignore whatever the Alpha was saying to him. He was growing impatient and wanted to get the night over with.
Salen was a ball of nerves as she moved into the ballroom, attracting stares from their guests. Celus' uncle smiled proudly at her when she passed him near the stage. Being Celus' mate, she would be crowned once they were married; something that was in place as security for the Luna Queen title. She loved her mate more than anything, she just never expected something like this to happen to her. The royal advisor stepped onto the stage, silencing the crowd. "I want to thank you all so much for joining us on this exciting day. It is now time to crown our now monarch; a time to celebrate as this happens rarely in a lifetime." The guests cheered, excited to get a good glimpse at their future King. Saifya gave Salen a thumbs up and a bright smile, calming her racing heart and making her nerves start to retreat to the back of her mind. She stood next to Mandry who was aggressively wiping the tears of pride from her cheeks. This was Celus' big moment, and she wasn't
Tne next morning went by in a blur. Castle staff were busy helping Celus and Brady prepare for the ceremony. Salen was whisked away by Safiya to get dressed up together in her room.Celus was being bombarded with last minute knowledge from Landrews as the staff rushed to bring in two black suits; one for Celus, and the other for Brady. They also brought in the royal robe that had been passed down through generations. Every king that had been crowned in their monarchy had worn it all the way back to the first family. The robe was a royal blue color with white fur lining the outer trim. It had a large golden crown embroidered in the center along with the royal crest.Celus groaned as he took the suit into his arms and moved to the connected bathroom to change out of his shorts and long sleeve shirt. The suit was black with silver cufflings that had the golden crest engraved into them. It was paired with a plain white button-up shirt and matching black tie.
The decorating of the castle began after Landrews' announcement to his pack. Most were thrilled for their future under the new monarchy, and they believed he could do good for his people.Salen stood along Celus' side as he continued his training and learned anything that would be important for him before he took over. That included the names and locations of all of the packs and leaders that he would rule over.Celus ran his hand lightly over the worn map that draped over Landrews' desk. His pack title along with his sirname was printed in cursive ink over a large plot of land not far from the kingdom. He missed his home, but this would be good for all of them in the long run.Salen stepped forward and rested a calm and reassuring hand on his shoulder as they listened to Alpha Landrews ramble on about the history of each territory; from wars over land to the struggles of keeping and maintaining each leading family."The Alphas of every pack report monthl
Landrews requested the presence of Brady and Celus early the next morning. He was sitting in his office working on paperwork when they found him."You wanted to see us?" Celus asked with slight annoyance. He left Salen in their bed still fast asleep. She whined slightly when he had to leave her, but she eventually rolled over and started to snore slightly."Yes, come in and close the door behind you." Landrews waved, not looking up from his pages. Brady and Celus just shared a confused look before doing what he said. After a few minutes of silence, Brady leaned forward in the seat across from Landrews and cleared his throat. "Is-is something wrong?" He stuttered as he struggled to keep his confidence. Worry clouded his face as the Alpha King continued to work.Celus growled impatiently, catching both of their attention. "What's going on? I left my mate the morning after I proposed. She's going to be upset when she wakes up with me gone, and frankly
"Cheers to the happy couple!" Landrews announced, holding his glass of champagne in the air. When he said he was going to plan things, he really went overboard. He not only had the proposal planned, which they ended up not using, but he had a party waiting for them when they got back to the castle. Every member of the royal pack stood facing the entrance as they walked inside, cheering and congratulating them as they drank the champagne Landrews had sitting out on the counter."Come in, we have food and plenty to drink." Landrews rested his hand on Celus' back and led them through the crowd. He gave his guests friendly smiles and thanked them for coming as they neared the buffet table. "This is all for you, so eat up." He patted them both on the shoulder and turned to socialize.Celus gave Salen a weary look, which she returned with a shrug of her shoulders."This might be good for you. You can get to know your new members before your coronation." Celus s
Celus paced frantically as warriors rushed around him. Landrews had gotten a lot of men to help with the proposal as he wanted it to be a big thing for everyone.Celus' heart raced as he felt his hands begin to sweat. Proposing to Salen was huge, but the added anxiety of Brady and Landrews taking control made him want to pass out."Are you ready for this?" Brady asked from behind him. Celus shot him a glare and gripped his hands tightly in front of his chest."No." He wheezed. "This isn't what I wanted." Brady looked at him in confusion."What do you mean?" Celus gave him a dead panned look and motioned around him at all the crazy decorations that were being set up. Brady gave him a sly smile and tucked his head. He sighed and dropped the clipboard that was in his hand to his side. "I'm sorry. We went way too crazy.""You think?" Celus scoffed as he plopped down on a garden bench. "This is way too much." He sighed, holding his head in his hands.
Celus dismissed himself from Andrew and crossed the clearing to be by Salen's side. If Kristopher and Henry were planning something, he wanted to make sure she stayed safe in all of it. It wasn't her fault they were in this mess in the first place.Salen smiled wide when he got close to her. She reached down and took his hand as she continued her conversation with Suzanne. The birthday party ended shortly after that. Salen offered to help clean up, which meant Celus would be there, too.He helped pull down the tall decorations and carried the now folded dessert tables back to a storage room. The pack mothers were very thankful for his help, and watched him with a newly found interest. The way he held himself with confidence, but turned into a loving mate as soon as Salen came to his side. His serious expression that was plastered to his face as he continued to clean up fell to a warm smile when Salen went over to help him."You
One week of training had gone by, and Celus and Brady were improving rapidly. Fighting against Zachary and Elijah was now no problem for them, and the training uniforms became natural to wear."Today we are going to fit you for our actual armor. This is going to feel significantly heavier and more difficult to move in." Landrews announced as the four of them stood in front of him in the weapons room. "You did well with the training gear, rather quickly might I add, so I want you to get used to this new equipment." He reached up and pulled two sets of gear from the wall and tossed them to Celus and Brady.Brady held up the armor to himself with wide eyes. "This is a lot heavier." He shook it, listening to the clanking of the metal pieces.Celus slid the chestplate over his head, adjusting it into place. He clipped it together and began piecing the rest onto his body.Zachary and Elijah stood next to them with their armor already on. They helped them figure
While the guys were off training for the day, Salen made the decision to hang out with Suzanne from the other afternoon. She was busy baking in the kitchen with some of the chefs and other pack wives. Her face brightened when she spotted Salen walking into the room. "Salen!" She squealed, rushing over to hug her with as much strength as she could muster."Hey Suzanne!" Salen pulled back and gave her a friendly smile. "I thought maybe we could do something today! Celus is busy." She caught herself before she let slip where they really were."Of course! We are just baking cookies for the children. It's Xander's birthday today." She winked over to a little boy around the age of six that was tugging at his mother's pants."Mom! When are they going to be done?" He whined. His mother, a short stalky woman with short brown hair swatted him out of the kitchen."I told you!" She scolded. "I will let you know when they are done. Now go play with your friends
