ADELINE’S POV

Present

I stood by the window, staring out of it. The view of the garden was beautiful, but it felt cruel that I couldn’t go out since I was under house arrest, accused of something I didn't do.

I had to find a way to prove I didn't try to push Sasha off the window. The pen recorder I used to record her in the office, but I didn’t know who to trust to get it.

Tristan wanted to destroy me. He was relentless in making me his wife or destroying me.

Matt would have been perfect, but lately, he seemed to hate me because I wouldn’t date him.

Xander was persistently trying to see me, but trusting my ex-husband to help me was out of the question. Everything was so confusing.

A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I turned and saw Tristan walk in. He had that smug smile on his face, the one that always made me uneasy.

"Adeline," he said, closing the door behind him. "Why do you make things so difficult for yourself?"

So how does Matt and Tristan get past security but Xander was unable to get in. That scene was poorly written.
