“They are finally here. Let’s see what she is going to do about this,” said the woman standing beside Wang Qingqing as she gloated.
She was wearing tasseled earrings and they swayed gently as she spoke.
“Qingqing, Hongxiu, stop it already. Let's see what she is going to do about this,” said a young woman wearing a lavender dress with flowers scattered all over her pleated skirt. Her long dark hair was done up exquisitely in an updo with a gold butterfly hairpin placed diagonally behind her head as long gold tassels hung from it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had no impression of the woman talking to Wang Qingqing, but they were probably birds of a feather and up to no good.
“Give way to the County Princess. If you disrespect her, His Highness is going to punish us.”
Who was this? Did she have to speak with such an annoying attitude?
Cheng Xiaoxiao had already gone back to Chu Yunshen’s room to play with the baby bird
Wan Xia kept wanting to go after Xiao Qin. It was the first time Cheng Xiaoxiao had ever seen Wan Xia lose control. Sadly, she found out through Xiao Qin’s death. Su Ninglan was the first woman to come over and help Xiao Yue pull back Wan Xia. She even waved someone over to help. The second person to help was the woman dressed in pink standing beside Su Ninglan who was known as Miss Wu. Cheng Xiaoxiao sat on the ground as she watched them encircling Wan Xia. Someone’s maid had gone to ask for help. Wan Xia seemed to have fainted and everyone was trying to revive her. However, none of this had anything to do with Cheng Xiaoxiao. She simply watched numbly. Her head hurt and she felt like crying. Cheng Xiaoxiao blinked hard and could sense something trickling from her eyes. The warm fluid got mixed up with the water on Cheng Xiaoxiao’s face before flowing down her glossy fur.
“That was not what I meant!”Li Hongxiu did not expect Miss Wu to be so eloquent since she always seemed meek. If she knew Miss Wu would retaliate, she would have picked an easier target. “Then what do you mean? If you are worried, then why didn’t you carry the lion cat? How could you bear throwing her on the ground?” Miss Wu refused to give up as she pulled Li Hongxiu and prevented her from running off. Li Hongxiu tended to be mean, but she didn’t expect Miss Wu to physically stop her.Li Hongxiu didn’t know whether she ought to stay or leave now. She was so anxious and infuriated that her face flushed crimson and tears welled in her eyes. “Stop it. I have sent people to bring Wan Xia back to her room. We have to send the lion cat back to His Highness immediately! You really don’t want to be late about this!”Su Ninglan floated over in her white dress and looked at everyone coolly. Judging from the loo
Chu Yunshen continued carrying the lion cat for a while longer until her ears stopped twitching before he finally stood up and placed her on the bed gently. He nimbly pulled his arm out from under the cat, covered her with the blanket, and sat by the bedside. Chu Yunshen looked at the cat sideways and scrutinized the cat on the bed and furrowed his brows. The lion cat’s eyes were slightly red and swollen. It reminded Chu Yunshen of a little white bunny Chu Hongyi used to have as a child. Was she sad?Why was she so sad?Chu Yunshen couldn’t help smoothing the lion cat’s forehead. The lion cat moved restlessly as she muttered in her dreams. He pulled his fingers back briefly before he decided to rub the lion cat’s soft ears with his thumb and index finger. It felt good. No matter what happened, he was here for her. He hoped she would stop being sad.
Miss Wu said nothing. She simply held Su Ninglan’s arm with both hands and pulled Su Ninglan out of the quarters before she said softly to her, “Don’t you find Wan Xia’s quarters particularly cold?”Su Ninglan was at a loss, but she reached her head out and briefly checked out the quarters.“Perhaps the lighting in the quarters is bad.”Su Ninglan’s response was simply unconstructive, but Miss Wu didn't say it out loud. Instead, she pointed at the doors and reminded Su Ninglan, “Look at it again. Are her quarters the same as yours? Is it located in the north and faces the south? Is light able to get into the quarters easily?”Su Ninglan looked in the direction Miss Wu was pointing. Sure enough, Wan Xia’s quarters resembled hers. This was strange. Su Ninglan recalled that her room had a lot of light. Even on rainy days, there was far more light compared to Wan Xia’s quarters.Miss Wu noticed that Su Ningla
Wan Xia repeatedly uttered these words to Xiao Yue without making a sound as she begged for her not to go out. Wan Xia held onto Xiao Yue’s hands tightly as she trembled. She had bitten her lips badly yesterday, and they had just healed a little today. Now, they were bleeding again. However, she kept biting down hard and was completely oblivious of her actions as she trembled increasingly hard. Her eyes were listless as she kept staring at the ground. There were clearly tears in her eyes, but Wan Xia stubbornly refused to blink and let them fall. Xiao Yue didn’t know who Wan Xia was fighting.Xiao Yue saw blood oozing from the corner of Wan Xia’s lips with her face looking so ghastly pale that it was impossible to hide it even with makeup.“Miss Wan Xia, stop biting…”Wan Xia dug her nails into Xiao Yue’s flesh, but Xiao Yue failed to notice it. Xiao Yue spoke with a crying v
Xiao Yue wanted to reach her hands out to comfort Wan Xia, but she was afraid of disturbing Wan Xia and didn't know what to say.“It’s fine. I can wait.”Wan Xia moved and sat on the ground. She spoke listlessly and sounded stifled with her face buried in her arms. “Wait? For how long?”The moment Xiao Yue finish her sentence, she wanted to give herself two tight slaps. Wasn't she implying that Chu Yunshen would never fall for Wan Xia?She kept slipping up with her words, so she could only shut up sheepishly.“That’s right. When will my dreams come true?... After all, they are always together…”Wan Xia laughed powerlessly. Xiao Yue was unable to tell if Wan Xia was laughing or being sad. However, she promptly caught on to the crux of what Wan Xia had just said.Xiao Yue’s heart palpitated excitedly as a bold idea rose in her mind. “Miss Wan Xia, what if the lion cat
Cheng Xiaoxiao no longer felt jealous about the extra food Chu Yunshen got. After all, she knew Wan Xia was forced to bring the food over. Since they were good-looking folks, they looked great together and every frame was a classic. It was not entirely about wanting to sample Wang Qingqing’s cooking. Cheng Xiaoxiao had a few opinions of her own about Wang Qingqing. She was very impressed by the way Wang Qingqing’s mind worked. Cheng Xiaoxiao could disregard the fact that Wang Qingqing had probably asked Wan Xia to help send soup to Chu Yunshen on the very same day she offered her condolences about Xiao Qin. Even if Cheng Xiaoxiao overlooked all her faults and how evil she was, she found Wang Qingqing’s thought processes inconceivable.Wang Qingqing might have asked Wan Xia to send Chu Yunshen soup, but she was doing it in Wan Xia’s name. What could she get out of it?Was she genuinely i
Chu Yunshen did the unexpected! Cheng Xiaoxiao felt a headache coming on and wanted to pull Chu Yunshen’s robe in protest. Sadly, she was in Wan Xia’s arms and was some distance away from him. Chu Yunshen was completely unmoved. His thin lips parted as he spoke. Stop! Stop talking! When did Chu Yunshen become such a talker? Why couldn’t he just shut up already!Cheng Xiaoxiao was worried Chu Yunshen would end up not giving her a single bite of osmanthus cake if he went on talking. He might just confiscate the two pieces of cake hidden in Wan Xia’s sleeve altogether. Fine!It was a deal!“Meow!”The lion cat raised her paw to her face and moved it slightly. Cheng Xiaoxiao was mimicking a fortune cat. She felt she ought to have done a good job. Even if she did not look as innocent as the fortune cat, she should at least look cute. The lio
