"They are not paired," my father told me.
"And might I ask how I'm supposed to find them within the battlefield you have created?"
"I told you not to look for them in the first place,"
"Kaname and Kami both are on the battlefield, they've been there since our 10th birthday. Father, it's obvious they don't like me and you are never around either, I have a half-sibling somewhere in this city and I will find them. I at least want to know what they look like, Father please, I need more to go on." I plead with my father, hoping that this time he'll let me know something about my half-sibling.
"Don't tell the brat anything, she's already abandoned us on the battlefield, wouldn't want her to abandon the family too now would we?" Kami says leaning on the doorframe, I turn around to face her only to see her smirking.
"Cut it out Kami, we're 16 now can't we just act like adults," Kaname says walking into Father's office.
"Can it Kaname, we all know you're only acting this way because Father is here," Kami says draping her arm on Kaname's shoulder.
"Enough you, two," Father gets up from his chair, "shouldn't you both be on the battlefield now?"
"We were Father but he is there so we came to get you as soon as possible, numbers are dropping," Kaname says
Kami looked at me and said "We would have been here sooner but neither of us can teleport,"
"Maybe numbers are dropping because your healing power is insufficient," I say, smirking at Kami.
"ENOUGH, Karma I need you to open up a portal and send us to the battlefield, you will be fighting alongside us"
I do as Father says, open up a portal and we all step through it.
Now that we're standing on the battlefield, I see him taking down our men one by one with ease. He is known by the heroes as The Guardian, he's been around about the same time as my father. The Guardian is the strongest hero they have, I almost put him out of commission about a year ago. I'm surprised he's back so soon.
"Karma, I trust you know what to do," My father says to me, I disappear and reappear behind The Guardian.
"Welcome back Guardian," I say with a fake smirk on my face, he turns around slowly and looks down at me.
"Eclipse" the tall muscular man looks at me with shock as he says my villain name.
"Nice to see that you're back, looks like my predictions were wrong. You should've been out for at least 2 months, no matter. I'll just make sure you won't be back for a bit." a portal opens up behind The Guardian and Kaname comes through, taps him, and steps through the portal again then I close it. I leap back, opening a portal behind me and I land near my Father.
"A year off the battlefield and you look as though you never left, that's my girl," my father says. "show me what you got Kaname,"
Kaname puts his index fingers and thumbs together activating his power, The Guardian freezes in place. Kaname smiles and says "Right leg, break" The Guardian grabs his right shin and snaps his bones in half. "left leg, break" The Guardian grabs his left shin and breaks his bones again.
"God, Kaname, that's sick," Kami says, covering her ears and closing her eyes.
"Can I go home now?" I ask my Father, he looks down at me with an unamused look.
"Bring the wounded to the tent Karma when you're done you may return home," my Father says walking away with Kaname and Kami. I sigh and walk around the battlefield, teleporting all of our wounded men back to our base to be healed. Night fell and I had still been looking for wounded soldiers, I didn't want to be out for much longer. I heard a faint voice crying out.
"H-help" I turned to the right and saw someone lying in the dirt, I ran over to help them. It was a boy about my age with red hair. Judging by his hair colour alone, I could tell that he wasn't one of our men.
"Where are you hurt?" I asked him, as I slowly pulled him up to sit.
"I just sprained my ankle, it would mean a lot if you could take me back to the base," the boy said with a smile.
"What's your name and how old are you?" I asked the boy.
"I'm Natsu and I'm 16" he replied in pain.
"You'll be at your base in a second," I say pointing a finger gun at him.
"But what about your name?" Natsu looks up at me, worried.
"Hm, oh we'll meet again soon," I open a portal underneath him and he falls through it.
"Hometime," I say as I open a portal and step through it. "Uh oh"
"Uh oh"As I stepped through the portal, I can see Kami standing in my room with her arms crossed across her chest. It's obvious she saw me but there are many reasons as to why she's here right now."What did I do now?" I say as I roll my eyes and sit on my bed."You know Father hates it when we spare heroes right?""Yeah so?""So, why did you do it?""Well, you know I've never actually killed anyone throughout this entire war right?""Well, I do now but why?""Because I have no intention of lengthening my lifespan,""Don't you want to live longer?""If I have to cut another person's life short to make mine longer, I prefer to die when I turn 30," I say as I lie down on my bed."That would cut 5 years off of your original lifespan,""I know, now get out I'm tired," I said trying to kick her out because I had no time for her."Fine, but I'll be telling Father about this and he
"Why would you want to see her now of all times," Father looks at me suspiciously."Do I need a reason to see my mother now? If you need one, I was talking to Gem and she thought I could use some time away,""Gem suggested this?" Father said raising an eyebrow."Yes, I'll be at mother's place for a while, I'm going to pack my bags," I said as I walked out of my Father's study."Karma wait I-" I closed the door behind me as Kaname tried to speak to me.The next morning, Gem had told me since my mother isn't paired, she should live in a city made for people without pairings. The city is protected by a thin layer of material that will either cancel or drastically reduce powers and the city is miles away from where I'm living with Father. Gem also says that he refuses to go near there so I'll have to rely on my portals."When you try to get there, your portal might send you somewhere else or you can't pass through them. For you to ge
"Can we talk?" Kaname stood behind the door, looking unsure but smiling awkwardly. Kaname was usually a pretty confident guy, so I knew something was up."Yeah, have a seat on the bed," I stop putting away my clothes and sit on the bed with Kaname. "What's up?""I want to help you help you find our sibling," he said, I looked at him suspiciously when he said that."Why?" I said as I stopped putting my thing away."I was thinking about how to be a better brother and I thought maybe if I help you find them it could bring us closer together,""Wouldn't that push us away from each other after I found them though?""It might but I'm sure that with my help you'd find them and we'd definitely be closer," he said sounding sure of himself."So why do you look so unsure of yourself?""Pfft, I'm not unsure of myself. I'm unsure that you'll let me help," Kaname said scratching his head."Well I guess I can't turn you dow
"Shoot," Kaname looks back up at me."Does Kami know anything about our brother?""I'd hope not,""What do you mean by that?""Kami is...how should I put this" Kaname leans back but doesn't close his eyes."A hothead?" I finish his sentence."Well yeah but in this case, I would say unpredictable. Remember when Father first told us about him?""Yeah, Mom cried for hours," The memory of my devasted mother flashed through my mind. I couldn't even imagine the pain she felt."Yeah, I remember that too but do you remember what Kami said? Think about that for a bit."I tried to remember what Kami's words were but all I could remember was my Mother's sobs."Uh, Kaname?""She said another obstacle" Kaname sat up "At 10 years old, Kami had thought about us as nothing more than obstacles.""She really said that about him?""Yes, Father was taken aback at her statement but he ignored it to tend to Mom. Th
I leave my room to see if dinner is ready, as I exit I bump into Asagi."Sorry, Asagi I wasn't looking where I was going,""It's okay Lady Karma, how are you feeling?""I'm okay, how about you?""I'm good thanks for asking, Miss Karma if you feel uncomfortable in the room you are staying in, I can move you to another one,""Thank you, Asagi I'll keep that in mind," He probably remembered what happened 6 years ago too. "Asagi do you know if dinner is ready yet?""Yes, in fact, I was coming to get you,""Thank you Asagi," he bowed and walked away, I made my way downstairs to the dining room. When I get there I see mom and Kaname talking, they both look at me."Karma, Kaname, and I were just catching up," Mom says with a big smile, I haven't seen her this happy in a while. I take a seat across from Kaname and the maids bring out our food."That's good, hey mom do you think you could answer my question now?""Sure, wh
The next morning, I wake up and get ready to help mom at Father's business. Father owns one of the biggest shopping malls in the world, as well as the only shinigami company in the world. Father is paired with the God of death so he can freely communicate with other shinigami easily. Mom is a spiritualist but can't really communicate with shinigami well, which is why she wants us to help. Kaname and I can freely see and speak with shinigami, making the job easy for us. Sometimes people can't see their own shinigami so they would come to the shop and see if they have one."Karma are you ready?" Kaname says knocking on my door."Yea you can come in," I said pulling a sweater over my head."Karma what are you wearing?" Kaname gives me a look of disappointment."What's wrong with it?" I said looking in the mirror, "Is it the jeans? I knew it, should've gone with the black ones,""You can't wear an oversized hoodie, wait is that mine?""May
"Haru you can go back to your desk now," Kaname told Haru, he thought it would be a lot harder to find the file if she noticed me looking around. "Oh but I'm-" Haru tried to speak. "Haru," Kaname cut her off "you may go back to your desk now, I'll be helping my mother now so you can attend to your other duties," Kaname said coldly to her, she got the hint and left. "You didn't need to send her away so coldly Kaname," Mom says in a worried tone. "Sorry I meant nothing by it, so what exactly do you do all day?" "I have meetings all week but I also need to organize some files," "Files? I could do them for you," "Really?" "Of course, you need to go to those meeting so I'll arrange the files for you," "Thanks, Kaname, the files are in a room, down the hall, and to the left," "No problem Mom," "Won't you be bored in there by yourself? Oh I know I'll send an intern to help you," Mom said excite
"Rei, what are you doing here?" I said surprised but happy to see Rei. Rei is a childhood friend of Kaname, Kami, and me. We grew up together since her father and my father were best friends, she also joined the war with us and her older brother but within the first year of the war, she lost her brother and became distant from the 3 of us. "I could ask you the same thing Karma, office work is never you're thing" "That is so true but my mom needed help so here I am. Why are you here?" "I think I lost my power on the battlefield yesterday so I decided to come here to see if Yuko is still hanging around me. Do you see him?" "Sorry Rei, I don't," I said looking around Rei, who looks depressed. "Thought so," she sighs, "Well at least I get to go home I guess," "Rei, if I can ask how did you lose Yuko?" "We were fighting against a QP, when I was hit with a shining orb. When it was approaching I tried to run but it was like it w
"In Kami's absence, Karma you'll need to stop this senseless search and help out on the frontlines," Father said. "No," I said. "What did you say to me?" Father said he looked really mad. "I said no, I'm not giving up what I want because you tell me to. I'm done doing your dirty work, if you want something done do it yourself. All you ever really do is sit up in your office and make me, Kami, and Kaname do you're bidding, hell if I'm going to do that. I'll go on the frontlines whenever I want to go," I said as I walked out of the room, noticing Kaname had his hand over his mouth trying to contain his laughter. “So what are you going to do now, Father? Your best fighter has tapped out and now you’ve got to deal with a teenage rebellion,” Kaname teased. “Of all the times, why now do they pull this shit? Guess it’s your time Kaname,” “Yeah, no thanks,” “What!?”“I could’ve settled for at least second best but third time isn’t always the charm pops,” Kanam
Sinn is nowhere near my name but I was given it because that's what I was called, I don't even remember what my real name was."Another round!" a customer yelled at me as I was cleaning glasses. By day, I'm just a bartender but during the night I was a murderer. Of course, murder is wrong but honestly, some people do deserve it, well that's my mentality at least. While I was making the customer's drink I heard him talking to another person."Did you hear? The serial murderer has been attacking this area lately?" the man said to the other."What? But why?""Does a mass murderer need a reason to murder?""I heard every person he killed had at least committed an offence punishable by death but of course managed to get out," a woman chimed into the conversation. I know this woman, she's in the bar every night till closing and even then she'd stick around. She just so happens to be a cop I believe she's suspicious of me."So
"What do you want now?" Axel said looking at both Gem and Sinn, "If this is about the girl she's fine, she's unconscious because she wants to be." "Really?" Sinn asked, "Why would anyone want to be unconscious?" "This way I don't have control of her, she's growing stubborn and I don't want her getting in my way," Axel said angrily. "You've brought this upon yourself, Axel," Gem said standing in front of him. "Oh?" he looked up at Gem and instantly knew what she had meant, "I see you have made up your mind but answer me this Gem, how will you defeat me when you're powerless?" Axel asked while smirking. Sinn thought to himself she knew he would ask this and honestly I have the same question, it's pretty obvious that Gem feeds power off of Karma so she doesn't get too powerful but it definitely won't be enough to take on Axel. Sinn looked at Gem who was determined but determination alone would only get her killed, not to mention her i
"Just wake up already, you're fully healed," Axel said to Kami. Axel rarely leaves the shinigami realm so when he wants to communicate with Kami he meets up with her in her head. "I've had enough Axel, let me go I won't be your puppet any longer," Kami said folding her arms. "You almost got Kaname and Karma killed, not to mention you almost killed my mother. I told you that you could use my body to achieve the war but don't hurt my family," "They were just collateral damage besides even if I did get them killed what would you do? It's not like you could stop me, face it if it weren't for that commander we wouldn't be in here right now," Axel said smirking. "Whatever, all that matters now is that we're here now and we're on equal terms now," Kami said with a smirk. "What the hell are you talking about kid?" Axel said getting annoyed. "Thanks to that beating the commander gave me, your mark is halfway gone," Kami said pushing h
"Natsu I need to see Luke right now," I said giving Natsu a look of determination."Uh, sure and you know there's no rush it's not like he's going anywhere," Natsu said jokingly."Just where did they take him Natsu?""Follow me," Natsu said as we walked through to get to the infirmary, I kept my head down a majority of the time as Nastu stopped to talk to his comrades. In my head, I hoped and prayed that no one would recognize me and thankfully no one did. I thought to myself I probably should've brought Kaname or even Lyst with me. Once we got to the infirmary, I put my head up a bit to see Luke, for the first time he looked genuinely happy. He was laughing with a bunch of other people and being greeted by people, he looked like he was where he belonged. I felt a pain in my chest, it hurt to see someone else enjoying the one thing I wanted most. Why is it that everyone else gets to have that feeling but for me? Did I do something wrong? Was I unworthy of
I open the bush to find Luke's jacket, I picked it up and a person with horns pops out, I looked at Kaname."He's pretty smart," Sinn said, replying for Kaname. "losing the clothes would aid his escape better but of course he slipped up giving it to a demon," Sinn said and the jacket started glowing. Kaname shielded me as the jacket glowed and then dissipated."Hehehehehehe, good to see you again Kaname," the demon said."What did they say?" Kaname asked Sinn."They said it was nice to see you again Kaname," I said to Kaname, "stop talking, you'll make yourself worse,""How did you understand that?" Sinn asked me, I looked at him confused, "demons speak an ancient language, it was around before shinigami," Sinn explained."I don't know, I just understood them," I said looking at the demon."I've never seen you before, who are you?""I'm Karma, Kaname's sister and you are?" I asked extending my hand to the female demon."
After placing a drop on Kami and Kaname, Kaname woke up and struggled to sit up. Kami on the other hand didn't move, I was about to place another drop on her when Kaname grabbed my arm and shook his head."Can you speak?" I asked just to make sure."Well, that's a stupid question, of course not, " Sinn said standing next to Kaname's bed. "No I couldn't have put it any nicer, " Sinn said looking at Kaname."Wait you know what he's staying?" I asked Sinn, looking dumbfounded."Of course I can, we're bound together I could basically read his mind, ""Could you tell me what he knows about Deity tears?""Don't tell her anything it's not the time yet, " Kaname thought."He knows nothing about it but where did you get it?" Sinn asked."Father gave it to me when I gave him the report, " I said looking down."Oh damn, I know he was upset, " Sinn laughed "I'm surprised he didn't kill you, blee the entire mission. Oh well at least
"Kami!?" I screamed as I got up from the dirt and rushed to her side making sure she was ok."Get away..from me," Kami said coughing up blood."You're alright, " I said hugging her as tears welled up in my eyes. "B-but what was that crack?" I turn around to see that Gem had taken the blow for Kami, cracking her bones. "Gem!? What're you doing here?""You were the one who summoned me, ""I did?" I asked, confused."Forget it, just get Kami out of here, " Gem told me as she teleports the Commander a great distance from us."No...I…fight, " Kami said spitting up more blood."The only fight you should be worried about is the one for your life, " Gem said as I hesitated to send Kami away. "she'll die if you don't move quickly, " Gem said seeing me still hesitating, I want her to live for sure but even with Gem here I don't have enough combat skills to take down such a great opponent. As I thought about it Kami has warped away from m
"2 on 1 hardly seems fair and it seems as though you were about to get your ass beat," I said teasing Kami. "HA, you wish after this is over I'm soooo kicking your ass," Kami said as I teleported her to my side. "When was the last time we fought side by side huh?" I asked Kami, feeling a sense of nostalgia. "Pfft, as if we'd ever get the chance to fight side by side like this, " Kami said giving a small smile. "You can remember it more vividly when you're drawing your last breathes," the commander said charging at us. Kami then ran to the right so I ran to the left, the commander went after her first. Kami then picked up the pace and ran faster she gave me a look and I nodded. I then teleported her onto the commander. She marked him and jumped off I teleported her back to me. "Say hi to Satan for me asshole," Kami said as she activated her power but nothing happened. "oh you've gotta be kidding me," "Nice try girls but my power
