Abby POV
I realized, when I saw her again this morning, where I remembered her from. When we were looking at the real-time footage of this pack, before Dina took my parents, I saw her flirting with the vampires. I saw her willingly let one feed off of her. I couldn't help but wonder if they changed her and she was able to mask her scent. There was one way to find out.
I walked to the kitchen and asked for a clove of garlic. I scored it, to release its aroma, then approached her. She backed away from me as soon as she smelled it. "Garlic! Ew!" Okay, she may just not like garlic. Let's try this. I took my necklace, that was a cross, and held it out to her. She hissed, her eyes glowed red, and fangs started showing. Adam saw this and he i

After changing clothes, Damien and I took two of our security guys, and left to go shopping. He said, "So, where would you like to shop, my Luna?" I said, "I have never shopped in Union Station. Why don't we go there?" He smiled and said, "I would love that. I want what makes you happy." As we are riding in the back of a Hummer, I slide close to him and rest my head on his shoulder. I said, "You are so comfortable." He chuckled and said, "Comfortable? That's not something I hear every day." I said, "I can always totally relax in your arms. I love that." He sighed and said, "In that case, you're comfortable too. I always totally relax when I'm holding you." I said, "It's that damn mate bond." He said, "Okay. I really want to hear the story behind that saying. you and your parents say it all the time. So does Kayla." I laughed and said, "Okay. I will tell you about it over dinner at the mall." He raised his eyebrows and said, "You're really going to make me wait?" I said, "I d
I said, "Okay. The story behind the damn mate bond." He laughed and said, "It's kinda been driving me crazy since the first time I heard someone other than you say it. At first I thought you were saying it because you were worried about me hurting or rejecting you." I said, "At first it was. But that's not where it started. It started with my grandparents, actually. My mom's parents." "The one thing you need to know is that my grandparents are like my parents," I said, "They are the perfect example of what the mate bond should look like. Madly in love since day one, but my grandmother was like me. She was a pack omega in a very cruel pack. She has scars all over her body because the pack used silver on her a lot. Knives, whips with silver-dipped tips, you name it. Her pack held a ball for unmated wolves and invited other packs. That's how she and grandpa met." My grandfather was the Beta in Cold Springs Pack. His brother, Gabriel's dad, was Alpha. They went to the ball and m
When we were done with our shopping trip, we went back to Silver Moon Pack to see if there was anything else we can do for them before we go to the next pack on our itinerary. Adam said, "There is one more thing we need Abby to do. Abby, do you think you could go through your old house to see if there is anything your parents may have left that they would want?" I said, "Sure." So, Damien and I went to my old house and, as soon as I looked around, I started thinking of all the good times in this house. They were the only good times I had, with the exception of the time at Kayla's house. As we looked around, Damien walked into my old gym and said, "They left all of your old equipment." I said, "They did have to leave in a hurry." Damien agreed and said, "Why don't I send a crew up here to completely empty both houses and clean them for Adam?" I said, "Then mom, dad, Leah, and Beau can go through all of their stuff and see what they want, and what they want to give away. Good
When we got to the pack, I noticed that they had their own little town set up with shops of all kinds, a school, and a post office. I said, "Does anyone venture into a human town at all?" Beta Rule says, "No, Luna. They are all afraid." I said, "How are humans supposed to get any other idea of what you are if they aren't exposed to you?" He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Beats me. That's the same argument I've made." I said, "When was the last time a human actually ran into one of you?" He said, "The last recorded one was fifty years ago." I said, "Okay. A lot has happened since then, and humans actually want to see a werewolf." Alpha Arnou says, "The werewolf and vampire books." I said, "Those books have been turned into movies, and people are actually choosing if they want to be on the vampire side or the werewolf side." Alpha Arnou and Beta Rule laugh and say, "If they only knew the truth." We all laugh together as we enter Alpha's office. The Alpha's office is not som
One of the men on the council furrowed his brows, "Would you care to explain that statement?" I said, "Certainly. You see, it is in our basic nature to protect. We protect our mates, our children and our pack with a fierceness that cannot be matched. When we love, we love with everything in us. There is no divorce in the wolf community. The Moon Goddess, our creator, sends our mate. We normally only have one mate for our entire life. That mate is the one who completes us; the other half of our soul, if you will. If our mate rejects us, we feel it in our heart. It is a physical pain that is awful. If they don't get a second chance mate, their wolf can die, then the person dies." The woman on the council said, "That sounds so romantic." I said, "We don't see it as romantic. We see it as everyday life. There are instances when a wolf can go mad. If they are rejected or banished from the pack. Those are the two main reasons. When this happens, they usually end up having to be put down.
We were shown to a very plush room, with a down feather comforter and silk sheets on the bed. The furniture looked like it belonged to royalty. It included a very necessary mosquito net over the bed. We had a balcony off of our bedroom and a coffee maker next to the french door leading to the balcony. I had already decided I would be using that each morning we are here. We took our showers and I dressed in my new black sundress. I'm brushing out my hair when I see Damien looking extra yummy in his black t-shirt and his jeans hanging low on his waist. He must have seen my eyes change, because he smiles and says, "Later, Yara. We don't have time right now." I had to fight Yara to retreat to the back of my mind. I said, "She was being quite insistent on staying up front this time. You look particularly yummy tonight." He chuckled and said, "You look quite tasty yourself," as he wrapped his arms around me. I finished brushing my hair, put it in a high ponytail, and put on
I said, "I'm sure my mate didn't tell you about it, because he tries his best to protect me. I have already had several attempts on my life, and I've been kidnapped a couple times because of it. My pack and everyone around me protect me fiercely." Alpha Arnou stood and everyone got quiet, "My pack, after what we all just witnessed, Luna Abby has told me that, because of what she is, she has had several attempts on her life, and she has been kidnapped twice. I now ask you; will you all promise to keep who she is within this pack and protect her as though she were one of ours?" There was a collective, "We will" and a loud applause. Damien leaned into me and said, "You do this to wolves everywhere you go. Nobody can hate you. It's impossible." I said, "It's very possible... Don't forget Dina." He said, "Dina was batshit crazy. She doesn't count." I shook my head and smirked at him, "You're also very biased." Alpha Arnou said, "He's right. Everyone calms down as you make your pr
After placing a huge order at the bakery to be shipped to our pack and placing an order to be picked up on our way out of town in two days, Damien and I get in the Hummer with Ely and Eivin and we are on our way to the pack. Alpha and Beta will be later than us, because they have all the kids with them. I need to get back so that I can eat lunch, then start getting ready for the gathering after I help get the kids settled in. It's another busy day today. When we get to the packhouse, I went straight to the dining room. While Damien and I were eating, Alpha Arnou and Beta Rule came in with the kids. They were all laughing, so I took this as a good sign. Alpha offered to let them sit at his table, and they took him up on it. They all got a plate of food and a drink and sat down with us. When Alpha stood, the pack went quiet. He said, "You all are aware of the kids that are coming out to film us. This is them. When I call your name, please stand. Sergio is the oldest. He is six
