Chapter 70: Beginning

As the clock ticked closer to midnight, I felt my anxiety spike. Theron and Athro were supposed to be home hours ago, but there was no sign of them. I had tried calling Theron multiple times, but his phone went straight to voicemail.

"God, what are they doing? This is really late now. They're supposed to be here earlier," I said sitting down on the couch.

My heart raced as I wondered what could have happened to my husband and son.

"No, please, Lord. Deliver them from evil and do not forsake them. Make them safe from that woman who's full of hatred inside her heart."

I paced back and forth in the living room, my eyes flickering to the window every few seconds. The front door remained locked, and I was hesitant to venture outside in the dark. My thoughts were interrupted by my ringing phone. I eagerly answered, hoping it was Theron.

"Hello? Theron, where are you? I've been trying to reach you," I said, my voice laced with worry.

The voice on the other end, however, was not Theron's. It
