I am staring blankly at my ceiling wondering what will happen in the next few days. And now, I am puzzled if I should continue going with my sweet adventure. But inside me, I am really excited to try new stuffs, visit places and met new people.
I know this is really dangerous. But there is a question that is haunting me for hours now. Why did my lungs are doing great? Or ...
I was just overwhelmed that time when we visit the mall?
Was I?
Dad once told me that I came out from Mom's womb too early. I am a blue baby. That time, they really thought I would not survive. But I did. That's why, they got so overprotective that I cannot even remember that I experienced playing with kids and rolling in the mud or dancing in the rain.
When I was just a little child, I always stay at home with Grandpa who is now in heaven. He took care of me while my parents are working. My parents always remind me to not go far. But with Grandpa, I convinced them that I can live in this village like a normal kid. And since then, I would ride my bike going to the Park of the subdivision.
But everytime kids would saw me coming, they would run away from me and laugh. Since then, I never went back to the park because I know they don't like to be with me, they are scared, maybe.
Dad came home earlier than Mom and I know his busy because he immediately faced his laptop and his fingers are touching the keyboard so fast. I can't help but to just stare at him.
We didn't eat dinner together since Mom said she'll be home late. Dad just ate a sandwich while I only took a bite of a chocolate panini.
I run to my room and prepare my stuffs. I put my camera and my notebook in my tote bag. For once, I want to decide for my own life. I don't want to get controlled anymore even though it will cause a lot of trouble. I look myself at the mirror and stared at me for like a minute. I look pretty tired. My hair is getting long. It was only short enough that it would touch my shoulder, but now, it growned like 5 inches.
I went to the kitchen and make my coffee, so I can stay awake and not feel sleepy. I suddenly heard footsteps coming down and later, I saw Mom and she got surprised to see me.
“It's already late, you should not drink cofee.” She spoke softly to me. She's now wearing her sleepwear opposite to me who is wearing a pink hoodie and jogging pants. She seemed to notice my outfit since she looked down from my foot up to my head.
“And you should change your outfit now.”
I gave her a nod and she went to the comfort room. I finished my coffee first before going back to my room.
Am I a bad daughter for doing this?
It is still dark when I decided to leave. The time is quarter to four in the morning. I pedaled as fast as I could. I focused on the way when I suddenly feel someone in the back of me. Then he suddenly appeared beside me, biking.
I didn't care who was it until I heard his voice.
“ Escaping again, huh?”
I didn't pay attention to him and pedaled faster so I could avoid him.
I reached the gate first before him and I immediately parked my bike in the side near the bench. I left a pack of cookies in the guard's house. Tim just arrived and I can clearly see his face. He's wearing a white shirt paired with loose jeans and shoes.
He parked his bike next to mine and immediately opened the gates. I went near to the gate and watched how he calmly stood up in front of the people passing by in front of him.
He saw me standing in the gate and he give me that what-are-you-doing-there look. I shrugged and took a deep breath. I turned my head to the way we came from and finally step out. I gripped my bag tightly and tried to be calm. This is my second time but it felt like the first time.
His hands are on his pocket making him look deep down serious. I stood next to him and took my camera out. I took some pictures of peopel passing by. This is crazy.
“How did you know where I live?”
He didn't respond.
“ Are you my paid stalker? Or did my Mom paid you?”
He didn't respond.
I gave up on questioning him since I never receive a single respond.
“ Wanna go eat breads down there?” He broke the silence between us as he uttered and pointed the bakeshop in front of us.
I nodded as my serotonin boost by the excitement of it. He stood up and crossed the streets first. I checked the time and it's already twenty five to five. There is still time left.
We also went to the flower shop and I bought some daisies. This is so crazy. It is still so early yet a lot of people rare already busy. But i love how they are busy but not so loud. You can only hear the birds chirping ,the sound of the wind, and the exchanging of " Good Day!".
Tim said we wants me to visit a café just blocks away but I insisted that I need to go home. And I just realized that the time is already ten past six. I hope my parents are still asleep.
I never pedaled as fast as how I pedal my bike now. It's like I am in a marathon except it's not the trophy I am after. And as I pedal, I can hear Tim laughing at me while he is biking too. I can help but to laugh as I remembered how we ran when we noticed the time.
I guess I am normal after all.
And Thank God, Mom is not standing in the doorway and I guess they are still asleep. The house seems so quiet.
“Thanks, Idiot.” I said giving him a friendly look.
“My name is Timothy Williams, and I am not Idiot. Gotta go now.” He immediately left going straight from our street. I slowly entered the gateway of our house when he disappeared in my vision.
I slowly and carefully entered my room after I put the bike back in the garage. I opened my door very very slowly to avoid squeaks. After I entered my room, I suddenly heard a door opening and then shut. I run as fast as I could and jump off by the bed. I took my tote bag and put it under the bed so that Mom would not see it. I covered myself in blanket but my foot is seen, and then I heard my squeaking noise of the door being opened and then shut again.
I felt relieved knowing I was just on time. I stared at the ceiling happily. I took my camera from the bag and scanned the pictures I took earlier. All are pretty. The skies, the shops, the dying lights, the morning croissants, and the most beautiful sunrise.
I exist now. I can feel it already.
It's raining outside and I need to stay inside. And it means that it's until tomorrow. The ambience is super calm. A perfect time to recall the changes I've experienced this week. These days have been an adventure to me. But I know, there's a disaster waiting and it's near to come. But, as long as it makes me happy, there's nothing wrong with it.Lately, I just found myself practicing my speech if ever my parents find out about my morning escapes. But I am really praying to all Saints hoping they wouldn't get a hold of me and won't let me go out if the time will come they will know about it.My speech goes like:Mom,Dad, forgive me. I know you are doing your very best for me. But I couldn't stand being stuck here. It's giving me reasons to hate my life. I just want to be a normal and feellike I exist. I want to live my life. It's not that I don't want to be with you anymo
I tied my hair in a low ponytail as I continued painting my artwork. The only thing that needs some attention are the detailed part of the sky. You know, the formation of the clouds, the birds, and some shades on it.After finishing it, I stared at it long enough to the point I started to hate it. Always like that. Everytime I wrote a poem, I read it over and over until it sounds very corny. It's a very weird habit.I washed my hands and clean my nails that are now stained with paints. After some minutes, I went downstairs and sat down by the sofa. It's boring and I can't escape since my parents are here. Mom is in the garden and Dad is chit-chatting with our neighbor. There's always a time like this. Where everything just seems so fine but, it's not.Yesternight, while staring at the ceiling, I imag
My tears are continuously running down but my face stays blank. I can already feel how red my cheeks are. My shirt is half wet because of my tears and my heart is full of anger right now.“Since when?” Dad asked calmly but I know he's trying to fight his anger.I didn't respond and looked at them in the eye. They already knew about my morning escapes. It happens that the guard told Mom about it. It was not Sir Keil. A lady guard, the one I remembered who kept on staring at me.“I know I am not illed.” I finally said with cracked voice. Mom stood up from sitting in her chair and her brows furrowed in confusion and surprise.“What are you talking about, Zoe? Are you saying we're lying-?”“ Aren't you?”&n
The sun just rise when I woke up. I check the time and it was already quarter to six in the morning. The first thing I saw was the ceiling. A different ceiling from what I am used to. It is a new room I am waking up with. I rubbed my eyes and stretched my body. Then folded my blanket and arranged my bed.I got a very nice sleep. I stood up right away and started my morning routine. I walked outside wearing my leggings paired with an oversized white shirt and flat shoes. Tim reminded me that today will be a busy day for the both of us. We need to find a job right away. I am very nervous since I don't have any experience having a job.Guess this adventure is really for my first times. &nb
“ It was when our first customer came and then the moment he entered this restaurant, I heared him say 'what a monochromatic place', and I was like ' that's a cool name for a restaurant, it sounds freaking elegant'.” He sounds excited like he's telling the best story he read- he even mimic how that first customer uttered the words. That was what Sir Flinn said after I asked him how did they come up with naming the restaurant as ' Monochromatic'. His eyes are gleaming and I wonder that he doesn't know the meaning behind that word.Obviously.This is our first day of work- a work which I am not sure if we will receive a good pay. A work without proper contract or anything legal. It's really complicated right now.Miss Mia messaged Sir Flinn that she will take a day off
We started our day by getting off the dust. It was awful since it's early in the morning and we just took our bath to get soaked with dust. The exterior of this stall is really unattractive. It doesn't make the customers interested of what's inside. The color of the wall is too pale and is unmatched to the atmosphere of the interior which is pretty dark. Just by staring at the stall, it's really impossible to have atleast 5 customers per day.We left the apartment earlier than the other days. I also prepare clothes for me to use if ever I got too untidy from cleaning. Miss Chim prepared us packs of sandwiches we can eat for snacks. There's a strawberry jammed sandwich and the other one is coatwd with cheese and ham. She is really the sweetest. The most exciting part of today is meeting Miss Mia's kids. She told us that they come to vi
Timothy Williams lied. I punched him many times but it wasn't too much like what he truly deserves. Everytime I ask him “ Was it true?” or “Did you really saw them?” His forehead wrinkled and his lips are slightly open, then he would reply “ I'm... quite unsure, I think.. it's just me or maybe... my eyes are getting worse.” Then I would punch him, again and he would act like he's hurt and fall to the ground.I couldn't sleep properly because of it. Even though he already admitted it was a lie, there's still a part of me keeps on believing it.'Cause what if they are here? Are they searching for me?Are they worried? Will they take me back to that small village? And if they are really here, I shouldn't be afraid. They can't force me to go back to where I came from. Two decades are enough for me to get st
“Tim!” I shouted as I knock on his door. It's already 8 in the morning and he still didn't show himself for breakfast.I got tired from knocking and walked downstairs. I saw Miss Chim so I took the chance to ask her, but she spoke before me.“Oh, Kathareen. ” she said and then wiped his wet hands with her apron. “ Tim left earlier. He said it's an urgent emergency.”“Emergency?” I repeated for assurance. She nod and took some eggs in the refrigerator. “He don't want to wake you up since you are tired.” I froze. Speechless. After hearing it, I said goodbye to Miss Chim and excuse myself for not being with her in the breakfast table. I took the bus so I could be there faster. I got no idea what is the emergency all about.I can a
Timothy's POV.She looks tired but she looks fine on the inside. I stared at Sir Flinn as she talked with Kath in the kitchen- his tears ar estreaming down while holding his granddaughter's hand. Miss Mia sat beside me and we both watched them with a heavy heart. “ She's too precious, right? ” she spoke and her voice cracked. I smiled at her and eyes stayed still watching the painful scene. “An angel.” I said and stood up when Isaw Kathareen stared at me. “ I am just going to gt some fresh air-just outside.” I spoke and quickly left the room.I walked to the garden and messed my hair. Seeing her trying to bare with the pain is more painful. I stared at the sky and covered my face th both of my palms in frustration. There are billions of people around this world, but why does it have to be her? Why does it have to be the lady I wish I will grow up with?
“ But... if you try the therapy, you'll live longer, right”I flinched with her words knowing she is just 7 years old. I played with the fabric of my dress and faced her with a nervous smile on my face. I took a deep breath before straightening my back to came close to her. I stroked her black hair and darted my eyes on her.“You know...there are choices you are going to make and only you know why you choose that. You are still young..there's more adventures you are going to face. But I want you to...be strong. You may not understand the decisions I made, I know one day you will.. and this may be the first we talk to each other.. I hope you will never forget my name..Zoe Kathareen.” I stated. She stared at the little doll she's holding and then faced wit
“Oh gosh-is this real?”I kept on scrolling until I made myself believe it was real. It has been a week since I completed this story and yet- THERE ARE ALREADY 20,000 READS. I checked the comments they left and it touched my heartbeat. Some says that they didn't expect the ending and actually, me too.I took a deep breath and closed my laptop. I took a sip of my green tea and watched how the butterflies danced in the air, and how the blue the clouds are. After seconds of daydreaming, Tim appeared in my vision who's carrying a white box. He smiled at me when our eyes met and placed the box on the table beside me.” What's that?” I asked while he is slowly taking off the tape.“The printer.”“So..you're really serious about it, huh?”&nb
I slowly opened my eyes as the crisp of sunrays touched my face. The wall of my room is thin and I can hear murmurs from the living room. I hit the buttton in my side table to signal Miss Mia that I am already awake. After some seconds, she entered my room with her curly hair tied in a high ponytail and a wide genuine smile painted on her face. Staring at her made me left in an awe.“Rise and shine, sunshine!””Miss, you are freaking gorgeous..” I said in my hoarsy voice while she sets up my oxygen tank. She just glance at me and shake her head and continued on our morning routine. While she's combing my hair, I heard Tim's voice and Grandpa's and their voices sounds so excited. “What's going on outside?” I asked as I fixed the transparent tube being attac
“Is you-uhm..and Mom in a-uhm..-are you not in good state?” I asked Grandpa while he's arranging the flowers in Grandma's grave. “ I never heard Mom talking about you or Grandma..I'm just..curious.” I continued and unconciously run my fingers with the metal part of the wheelchair. He sat down in the green grass while hugging both of knees and playing with the petals of the flower. “ Your Mom...was mad at me before until the time you saw her in the stall..when she was 18,when your grandma died..she left me and said she wants to live her own life. I let her go but as a father, I don't want her to suffer in poverty, so I gave her one of my company-”“ Wait..what?”He gazed at me but he doesn't to be surprised at all-no single sign. “ I thought she was just a regular worker..” I stated with my hush voice. “Wait, so..you're the one who..named the company, right?” I asked aga
My hands were trembling as I slowly typed the words. I listened to a hundred of songs to make sure that I'll convey the emotions well.I typed and typed and finally reached the last two words. The End.I stared at it long enough to consume the thought that I made it this far.I read the chapter from the top and made sure there are less errors. The feeling was unexplainable. I did it. I finished the novel. I took a deep sigh of relief as I saved it and closed my laptop. I stared at the view- mountains, big trees, green valleys, the lake, children playing with their kites-a home. While enjoying the view, a van suddenly stopped in front of our house. I waited until I saw a familiar figure of someone-her dark complexion, her cury hair, and finally..her lovely face.“ Miss Mia!” I screamed making my lungs stopped working for a moment. She gave me her wides
I can't count how many times I already reread this book but everytime I do, it feels like I am reading it for the first time again. Every page gives magic and even though this novel breathes despair, and the characters are perfect but the dearest author just..killed them, I am still proud to say I am the number one fan of this 386 pages book.“ Kath! Are you done?”I didn't listen to Tim as he screamed from the garden. “Zoe Kathareen! Did you hear me well?” He shouted again.“Almost..” I replied even though only me can hear my voice.I heard his footsteps and I can feel him standing behind me. He pattes my head with his wet hands and it was freaking cold. I turned my head to him with narrowed eyes and wrinkled forehead. “ Stop it Timothy..”“Are you not sleepy?” he asked as
“Ten chapters left.” I uttered replying to Tim's question. HIs eyes went big and there was a smile that formed in his face. I give him a finger gun and scratched the bridge of my nose. I took a deep breath and stared at the ceiling. “ I don't know if this is a great story... I don't feel like it's worth someone's time.” I stated while both of my hands are entagled and on top of my forehead. The smile on his face disappeared and he gave me a glare. “ What are you talking about?” he asked but I didn't respond. He went to the window sill and arranged the vases and then opened the curtain letting the light in. “ You know... not everyone can write a novel..” he uttered leaning at the wall while his legs are crossed. “People like you, who are blessed with writing skill are rare... and you should never be yourself's first hater. You may think your story is lousy it's because you already know everything about that story...how it will end or how you
I sip the smoothie Grandpa made for me. It tastes great than the ones being served in the hospital. The doctor visited me yesterday and talked with Grandpa about my condition. I also grab the opportunity to apologize for how I act the last time we saw each other. He says that it's normal for him, and he already encountered a lot of dramas like what happened to me and him. But actually, I can't look him in the eye and I know there's a litte regret in me after he left, might be the last time I'll see him.Earlier, Miss Dehlaila helped me clean and wash myself. She was so gentle of me..and the way she speak and move is very gracious. Every time our eyes meet, she always gave me her sweet smile showing her perfect white teeth. She told me that she and Miss Mia are like soulmates-they are friends since they were in their teenage years when Miss Mia has to work for her family. They worked in the same shop where Miss Dehlaila is a wait
