Chapter Seven

“Hey, watch this.” Maxine plopped down beside Adonia on the couch. They were currently helping her mom put her things in place for her travel, she has an appointment and she was traveling by the next morning. Adonia dropped the cloth in her hand and she stretched her hands to take the phone from Maxine. She pressed play on the video and she smirked, it was a video of her at the cafeteria yesterday. Maybe the blogger had something positive to say about it after all. Maxine noticed the expression on her face so she scrolled down to show her the caption and the comments. 

To all the cheating bitches: When a man loves, it’s almost undefeated. He finds himself being constantly drawn o the person who first made his heart flutter or the person who has once been a source of the smile on his phone. In this type of scene, the defaulting partner always has the upper hand. They would wield the power of vulnerability over the other party and make sure they ruin every bit of sanity they have left. Don’t hate me if I say I hate women, those creatures make life hard enough. The love between our dear Quincy white [inserts adorable emoji] and Adonia Konstantinos [inserts irritated emoji] is one we would all admit to it being so sweet that we all craved a spot in the relationship. Quincy glowed more different those days and we always waited for the couple goals to be served until Adonia cheated. I wonder how Quincy is not enough to make her happy, maybe blame it on her greek roots or that she is used to having so many options and she thinks that applies to relationships too.  Quincy was seen earlier trying to extend an olive branch but the b*tch still thinks she’s in charge here. Adonia dropped the phone in rage, she should have known that Quincy would have tried to sabotage everything and made the whole scene look like she was at fault. She didn’t blame herself for falling for those cheap tricks, she should have just ignored the hell out of him, maybe just eaten her food in silence and pretend that he wasn’t sitting right in front of her. He was good with social media and he would never hesitate to use it in his own favor. She hated the fact that she let her modeling management handle her official I*******m page and she didn't develop a good relationship with her fans. Now there's no one coming to support her here. The only reason Quincy was able to get away with most social media bullying was that her management enjoyed a professional look without any controversy. She rarely addressed issues too.

“At least if he was going to troll you, he could have been a little bit creative with the username” Maxine added and Adonia smiled too. The name could have been better too, he could have called it something to know he worships Quincy not act like he was defending everyone that got cheated on. If he was indeed fighting for the truth maybe he should have reached out to her and found out her own side of the story. It was obvious he was a Quincy fanatic too and they didn't care if anything went wrong anywhere. As long as it is in their fave's favor. stupid set of dumb animals. 

“ I saw it since morning and I knew that it was just an act of clout chasing. I heard he was replaced on the main show because the director said he didn't have the talents for acting. I'm glad the director is one man who didn't care about fame over the quality of a good movie, we all know he wasn't cut out for acting, he's just here because he enjoys dominating the trends table and the show promoters want the movie to trend before it's released. He is now a side character and he would look for anything to be relevant again. He would troll you because that's the only way he knows how to use" Mrs. Konstantinos chipped in and Adonia almost kissed her in appreciation. everyone knew he was a social media bully, the main reason why they didn't like crossing him. Adonia felt partly guilty that she didn't tell Maxine or her mom about Quincy's threat to getting her where he wanted but he concluded it wasn't really that necessary for them to know. 

"Maxine, do you have a moment to spare, let me read my script to you so you give corrections, the last thing I want is being reduced to the like of Quincy and being substituted for a junior actress," Adonia asked and Maxine nodded affirmatively before walking to the dressing table to pick up the script Adonia left there. Adonia cleared her throat before standing in front of Maxine and her mom to read it to them. 

"Dearest Claudia, 

I hope by the time you open this letter, the sun is up and it gives your face the kind of reflection I want. You are happy and your hair is all over the place, and your smile is intact. I don’t care what your feelings might be at the end of this letter but I’m glad I got to experience what being in love with you meant. I loved you, Claudia, I always did. I was so sure you were the one I was going to marry. I couldn’t wait for our children to take your beautiful features and I always thought a mixture of our genes would be perfect. That was until Desire happened. 

I fell out of love with you Claudia. My heart is now dominated by a much younger wildcard who doesn’t care about anything or anyone. The sight of her racing through the fields in excitement is a feeling I would never come to understand. That woman is my life now and I hope you stay safe. I’m sorry for leading you on dearest Claudia, I feel very bad already. One can’t choose who to fall in love with and I’m sorry our love story ended in this manner.” She ended reading the script and she turned to look at her mom and Maxine for comments. 

"I feel like you are just reading back to me and you are doing it in a rather bored voice that I would hate to even imagine. Sounds like you are reading a boring essay in college and we both know that's not what the movie needs. the movie needs more action and you need to show us how much you can bring Claudia to life. if it helps, imagine Quincy dumping you through the letter rather than an awful I*******m post and you didn't catch him cheating on you." Maxine advised and Adonia nodded. She turned to ask her mom for advice and her mom agreed with what Maxine had said so she proceeded to read it again.

"Dearest Claudia," Adonia started and her face held so much hope like she was receiving a letter from her lover and husband to be. She smiled softly before placing the letter over her chest to feign how she craved she missed being close to him. She smiled before she continued reading the letter, pretending she had no idea of the horrors the letter held. It reminded her of when she walked into Quincy's apartment without any idea that what was in that room would come to haunt her for life.

That was until Desire happened." She reread the paragraph again as if she didn't get the message the first time and she re-read it again to get the feeling. She tried to come up with fake tears and it did, she dropped the letter before picking it hastily and she tried to read the remaining content as if she would find out what he meant by until desire happened or if he would write I got you and say he was just kidding. it reminded her of when she entered the apartment and she met the love of her life tangled up in bed with another person. She wanted to ask a whole to of questions and ask him if she was the problem or if he got tired of her. She wanted to ask if there was anything she could do to rectify the pains and make him love her back. Quincy had made her go through a whole lot of trash as a person and she regretted doing half of those things she did to please Quincy. 

"I fell out of love with you Claudia. My heart is now dominated by a much younger wildcard who doesn’t care about anything or anyone. The sight of her racing through the fields in excitement is a feeling I would never come to understand. That woman is my life now and I hope you stay safe. I’m sorry for leading you on dearest Claudia, I feel very bad already. One can’t choose who to fall in love with and I’m sorry our love story ended in this manner.” In the last paragraph, Adonia already broke into full-blown tears as she read it again while muttering what could have happened and she tried to find out what had changed the mind of her dear lover. this paragraph reminded her of after everything she had done for Quincy, how she still created excuses for him in her head and how she wanted him to come back to her life one day and announce that he has taken her back and they should continue their fucked up relationship. She was grateful she was a step beyond that and she no longer crave to be in the same space with him, one could say she has finally learned her lesson. Quincy was bad news and everyone needed to avoid him. 

"That performance was mindblowing, I can't seem to find the right word for it but I assure you that not only would you retain your position as the lead actress, but you will also blow the mind of the director away" Maxine screamed in excitement and soon her mom joined and everyone else was screaming too. Adonia felt happy with these humans in her corner and she felt like there was nothing else that mattered than having a family who have her back.
