William, who had rushed over, witnessed the entire scene. He looked at the man lying on the ground, and his inscrutable eyes became even more so. Furrowing his brows, he continued walking in this direction. “Cece–” At that soft call, Cecelia raised her head abruptly. Upon seeing William, she looked as if she saw a savior, and leaped into his arms hurriedly. “Pretty boy, what should I do? I don’t think that person is going to make it. He was trying to save me. If anything happens to him, what will his family do?” Cecelia had never experienced such terror. When she imagined that man dying, her heart was drowned in guilt. Cecelia’s fragility was caught by William’s eyes. He brushed away the wet hair that fell over her face, and consoled softly, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.” Unexpectedly, a few words from William managed to appease Cecelia, and her tightly wound heart relaxed a fair bit. She stared into his dark eyes as her lips quivered, “Pretty boy, he’s going to be fine,
”He is gone.” “What’s gone?” Cecelia was puzzled. “Who’s gone?” “Who do you think?” “My savior?” “Yes!” Cecelia froze and paled instantly. “You–didn’t you say he was awake? Doesn’t being awake mean he was out of danger? And that doctor promised that he’s going to be fine. Why are you saying that he’s dead?” “Gone doesn’t mean he’s dead,” William pinched his brows. “Huff!” Cecelia breathed deeply. “Can’t you speak clearly? You almost scared me to death.” She was the one who misunderstood his words! Cecelia’s brows furrowed in concern. “How could he leave when he just woke up? Didn’t you say you’ll watch over him? I’ve not even met my savior, how could you allow him to leave?” “He had his legs with him, he’s free to come or go as he pleases.” “You’re right,” Cecelia sighed. “I tried my best to rush back as quickly as possible. I did not expect things to turn out this way. If I’d have known, I wouldn’t have left. That way, at least I would know who my savior is.”
Nevertheless, she had to turn up for work, let alone the first day. To leave a good impression on her colleagues and superior, Cecelia left the house at 6.30 a.m., even though she was supposed to start at 9. When she was leaving, she passed by the living room, and as she saw her man lying on the couch, she tiptoed quietly and scurried out the door. She would never admit the reason for her early departure was due to the apprehension of facing William. After he released her the night before,
“You don’t have to feel pressured. If there’s anything you need, just say the word,” Linda said. “As long as you’re satisfied, any request you have won’t be a problem.” Did every new employee enjoy such privilege? Sure enough, this was a big company, going all out for its employees. Cecelia smiled cheerfully, “It’s all good, thank you, Linda!” “All right then. Get yourself familiarized with the surroundings. If you have any questions, you can make a direct internal call.” “Please watch
Cecelia wanted to find out if everyone received the same treatment as she did. As she stepped out of the office, she was stumped. There were a lot of rooms around, but no indication of its purpose. She did not know which room to knock on, let alone who would be inside. If she knocked on the wrong door— But if she did not find out, she could not eat in peace. If she could not eat the food, she could not help looking at the tasty and wholesome food beckoning to her. What a dilemma! She had never experienced such a dilemma! Just as her hair was about to turn gray from said dilemma, Linda appeared. “Miss Shayne, why aren’t you eating? Is the food not up to standard?” “No, that’s not it,” Cecelia was embarrassed. “Linda, are the employee benefits of the company the same for everyone?” For some strange reason, Cecelia could not help feeling uneasy about it. She did not do anything to deserve this, but she had received such wonderful treatment. It was simply too good t
As for getting married, you are the first! Just a few words and Cecelia was overwhelmed! No matter how many women he had before, he was only willing to get married to her! Yes, that was right, marrying her was done out of his own free will! ‘No, it wasn’t. Cecelia Shayne, what the hell are you thinking? Regardless of whether it was his own free will, I got myself a jinx, is that something to be happy about?’ Of course not, it was her greatest misfortune! Annoyed at herself, she smack
Cecelia, “—” It was a common scene often shown on TV or in the movies, but Cecelia never imagined it would ever happen to her in real life. Whenever that scene played out, it felt loving and full of warmth, but when it happened to her, why did her face feel so hot? Looking at that perfectly handsome face, not only was her face getting hot, even her heartbeat was out of control. Thump, thump, thump— Never had her heart beaten so quickly before, as if it was going into cardiac arrest.
”Are they still hiring?” Cecelia thought she misheard, “Did you just ask me if they’re still hiring?” “Yes.” “Why do you ask?” Did he finally discover his conscience, that a man should not be relying on a woman, and he wanted to work at last? If that was the case, that would be absolutely superb! As long as he was willing to work, even a monthly wage of one thousand would be sufficient. She did not expect him to make much; she only hoped that he was driven! Cecelia did not realize she was starting to worry for William. William slowly drank the last mouthful of milk before he replied, “To work.” “You—say that again, what do you want to do?” Heavens be blessed if she heard it correctly! “To work!” William repeated patiently. “You really want to work?” Cecelia was extremely excited, even more excited than the time she was admitted to university. In contrast to Cecelia, William was as calm as always, “Yes!” “Wow!” Cecelia stood up, held William’s face in her ha
