Chapter 1
“Can you stop that?” The woman beside me captured my attention when she suddenly said that. Annoyance was painted all over her face. I did not answer anymore and stopped tapping the floor with my foot. I often do this whenever I am nervous. It's already a mannerism of mine ever since. Instead, I heaved a light breath to calm myself. There are many of us lined up outside the office of the company's CEO. I swear, I am not confident that I will be hired with my small credentials. “I graduated as a Magna Cum Laude,” I heard the others say. They were all bragging since I arrived here; it intimidates me even more. I have nothing compared to them. I did not graduate college as I am just an undergrad. I did not even become a Dean's Lister during college—I was just the average type of a student. While them, their credentials are gold and piling up. Really? Why are you here, Dahlia? I shut my eyes firmly. “What's taking so long? No one is being called yet.” One of the applicants said. “Excuse me, are you all the applicants for the secretary position?” A woman arrived, asked. Judging by her looks, I can say that she's an employee here. “Yes, we are.” I replied. She sighed with disappointment and bit her lips. I can predict that there is bad news for all of us. “I am the current secretary and I will be leaving after one of you is hired. However, this day is not really a good day for Mr. Cohen—I swear. I don't know if he will come here today. I'm sorry, I guess no one informed all of you.” “What?” “We waited here for so long,” “We waited for nothing,” I heaved a heavy sigh after hearing that while all of them were complaining. “I'm really sorry for th—Mr. Cohen!” They all turned silent after a man just arrived in a black suit. It was just a few seconds but I was able to see his face. He was indeed handsome, but he looked cold and tough, which scares me a little. He walked towards his office without even giving any of us an eye. “The interview will start,” the secretary delightedly announced, which relieved all of us. So, I waited for an hour with my entire body feeling cold. I don't even know if I can pass the interview. At least, I'm trying, right? “I heard, today is the death anniversary of Mr. Cohen's dead fiancé.” My eyes simply shifted to the women beside me, gossiping. He had a fiancé who's now dead? I tilted my head. I cannot imagine how much pain he carries. “Yeah, the designer, Celeste Veran.” I raised my brows. I have no idea about who she is. “Maybe that was the reason why the secretary told us earlier that he might not come.” “Definitely. It is a surprise that he still went to work beyond this day.” “Have you seen his ex fiancé?” “No. Actually, many are not familiar with her face.” I shook my head. I guess they do love gossip. “Everyone, it's already lunch break. For those who are not yet interviewed, you have to go back here after lunch, around 1 pm.” I heard how many of us sighed after hearing that. I lazily grabbed my bag along with my white folder where my résumé is inside before I headed out to eat lunch. In the elevator, I checked my money inside my wallet. All I could do was to sigh. If I don't get a job sooner, I'll be found on the side of the road, becoming a beggar. The landlady of my place will probably kick me out at this point. “I guess I'll have just rice,” I mumbled as soon as I came out of the elevator. My phone rang and I saw Charlotte calling. “Hey,” “What's with the low tone? Aren't you hired?” She asked. Charlotte Salvador, my rich best friend. She owns a company after her father passed down the throne. “Not really, but I guess I'm expecting that to happen.” “You're being negative. What if you get hired, right? We never know, Dahlia.” I smirked and just sighed. “I hope so,” “Anyway, where are you? I'm actually here in the company’s cafeteria. Have you eaten your lunch?” My eyes widened and shone immediately after hearing that. It's because I know that Charlotte will treat me again and I can save up until I get a proper job. “I'm on my way!” She just filled up my energy again. “Dahlia!” Charlotte exclaimed from a far and waved her hand. I saw multiple foods already served on the table. “It’s a good thing that you came. I'm running out of money,” I uttered and sighed heavily. “You know that I got you,” she simply winked at me. “Anyway, I'll be back there. I haven't been interviewed yet,” I mentioned. “Then, dig in now.” She said and started to eat. Right after lunch, I went back upstairs while Charlotte left immediately for a meeting. “Number 38?” The secretary called aloud. “It's me!” I stood up immediately. Finally. “You can now go inside,” she didn't even glance at me anymore because of busyness. I guess if I get hired here, I'll be as busy as her. I heaved a sigh before I opened the door and invaded the room. I can smell a man’s perfume, which is probably my boss’. “G-Good afternoon, Mr. Cohen.” I greeted nervously. My d*mn hands are shaking for god’s sake. He was busy reading out a lot of papers on the desk while he was not yet giving me an eye. I was only standing in front of him, and couldn't even move a bit. I just want to finish this whatever the result would be. My brows crossed when he extended his hand as if he's asking me to give him something. It took a second before I realized that he was pertaining to my résumé. “Here,” I said and handed it to him. When he opened the folder, my heart almost left my chest. I almost trembled when he suddenly glanced at me with those surprised eyes of his. His lips parted as he looked at me, as if I was a ghost that he suddenly saw. Confusion was definitely all over my face right now. “I-Is there something wrong?” I couldn't help but ask. I kept my feet glued on the ground when he began to walk towards me, wearing that shocked face. As I stared at him, I saw how those brown eyes were about to throw water. Slowly, the upheaval of torturous was painted all over him. “Mr. Cohen, is everything fi—” I wasn't able to finish my words when he suddenly embraced me, saying no words. He just hugged me so tight that I could not breathe properly—as if he didn't want to lose me. I even felt his hand, brushing the back of my hair and all I could do was to widen my eyes. What the hell is going on? “Celeste,” I heard him mumble. itsclarixassChapter 2“Celeste,” I could not move. Aside from being puzzled, his sudden action stunned me. I almost held my breath while he was hugging me too tight as if he cannot afford to lose me. I'm pretty sure that I don't know him— aside from the fact that he is the CEO of this company and I am applying as his secretary. “I miss you so d*mn much,” my brows crossed. Then, I remember what the other applicants were talking about earlier. Celeste. That's probably his dead fiancé. But why would he hug me? I am not Celeste. “Mr. Coh—” my eyes widened and quickly pushed him away from me. All the blood from my entire body went on my face and painted it up. The secretary looks stunned by her face right now. Her lips were circled while she could not even say anything. “I-I'm not Celeste,” I said to Mr. Cohen. He was still giving me those soft eyes of someone who lost the most precious gem in his life. I moved my eyes away and glanced at his secretary before she could even think something diffe
Chapter 3“Fuck,” I uttered. I was staring at the furniture and appliances that Mr. Cohen sent me. Until now, I couldn't figure out why he would give me tons of things when my place is not that huge! “You're all giving me a headache,” I mumbled, might be losing my mind for talking to these things. Can you imagine it? He sent me a refrigerator—and take note, it's not just a simple refrigerator; it's the most expensive ref! It's a double door and there is a small screen on the other side of it. He even sent me a microwave, blender, air fryer, chairs, table, vases, and a lot of things. I took a deep sigh before I quickly grabbed my towel and took a shower before I headed straight to the company. Today is my first day as his secretary. I should be nervous, but that's not the situation. I kept thinking of the reason why he suddenly gave me those expensive things. “Sh*t,” the woman in front of me dropped the paper from her grasp when she saw me. I roamed my eyes around and they all loo
Chapter 4 “100,000?” Charlotte almost threw up the ice tea that she ordered after hearing the salary that I have. She seems stunned, just like me. Until now, I can't believe that I'm gonna earn a hundred thousand each month. It seems like God just pulled me from this poverty all of a sudden. “See? This is a jackpot, Charlotte!” I even slammed the table. My eyes were probably sparkling because of that huge amount. “Of course! I should have applied there instead. If only I knew that they are offering that huge,” she said and tilted her head with regret. I glared at her. “You don't need that. My salary is just a piece of coins to you,” I shook my head. Both of our lives are totally different. She was born in a huge mansion, while I was born and got abandoned. “Who's your boss again? I'm only paying my secretary 50,000 each month,” she uttered unbelievably, still in awe. Girl, who will not be in awe? I can't even process everything in my head yet. “We had a deal though,
Chapter 5 I quickly stood away from him and pulled back my hand after I realized everything. My hands were cold and my d*mn heart was pounding. I had to hide my face for a while as I turned my back a little. “It seems like you were dreaming so I was trying to wake you up,” I gave him a glance, but I chose not to stare at him for too long this time. Why does he keep calling me Celeste? Why is he always acting like this? “I'm sorry,” he uttered. “I had a bad dream,” I heard him heave a sigh. He probably dreamed of his ex fiancé, but why would he call it a bad dream? Did he dream of how she died? Slowly, I could not help but to get curious about what really happened. “That's fine. I-I uh…” I paused and clenched my hand. I could not even construct a sentence. “I bought a sandwich and an iced coffee,” I said and showed him the food on his desk. Sean seems uneasy. The frustration and the sorrows he has from the dark past were all painted on his face right now. I have n
Chapter 6 He was waving his hand while wearing that huge smile on his lips. Right from where I am right now, I can totally see how perfect Sean Cohen is. He even removed his sunglasses, which made me see the delight from those alluring eyes. Did I mention how good his looks are? From those thick black brows and to his almond eyes that were perfectly paired with his thick eyelashes. His nose was not pointed, but it was perfectly shaped. His thick heart shaped lips were naturally red that could probably seduce every woman. He is not just handsome, he's also rich. My brows crossed for a while. Why is he not wearing a suit that he usually wears at work? Right now, he was only wearing a black denim jacket with the white shirt inside and was tucked in with his black denim pants. Damn, he looked freakin’ hot. A hot bad boy, indeed.“See? You should have told me that you hav—”“Oh, fvck.” I ran as fast as I could as soon as I finally processed that Sean Cohen is here. Why is he even here?
Chapter 7 “Wait, Sean!” I exclaimed while chasing my breath. I paused from walking and sat on the bench. We just finished riding the roller coaster and we have been riding various rides since earlier. “Are you okay?” What's the matter?” He asked worriedly. I grabbed the bottle of water that we bought and drank it immediately. “I'm tired, I can't ride another one. It would be my death,” I uttered and shut my eyes firmly. “Well, you've been screaming in every ride we rode.” He chuckled, probably teasing me. “I'm not!” I exclaimed and moved my eyes away. “I…I was just having fun but I was not scared,” I reasoned out. Honestly, I was screaming because of fear. For pete’s sake, everything that we rode almost took my soul away— it's breathtaking! “You aren't scared? Maybe that's the reason why you were clenching my hand,” he heaved a sigh and glanced at his hand with pity. Gosh, it looks like a tomato with its redness. I bit my lower lip and had nothing to say anymore.
Chapter 8 “It's brand new, I never even once used that, Sir.” I said to my new neighbor who just moved here. “I can see that,” he was looking at the microwave and oven that he bought from me. He was scanning every part of it with a glimpse of joy in his eyes. Well, he hit the jackpot and I hit it, too. “Thanks, then. I'll tell my friends about the other appliances that you're selling,” he gladly said with a huge smile as he carried the appliances inside his apartment. “I'll appreciate that. Thank you!” I watched him close the door before I drew a huge smile on my lips as I began to count the money I earned. “You look happy,” “Fvck!” My heart almost jumped out of my chest. I had to shut my eyes firmly when I saw him standing beside me. I didn't even notice him there for god's sake! It's Sean Cohen again, wearing his normal look: a black suit. If yesterday he looks like a hot bad boy, right now, Sean looks like a hot billionaire. Well, he is a hot billionaire, i
Chapter 9 Third Person's POV “I'm leaving tomorrow for London,” Sean mentioned while he was drinking with Ford in the bar. That bar is for billionaire people like them. Unlike the others, it's quite peaceful there. “So? I don't care,” Ford replied and even rolled his eyes while busy typing on his phone. But then, when Sean didn't say anything, it made him pause. His eyes slowly shifted at him, and there he was, staring at the alcohol in front of him with his head traveling somewhere else. That was when Ford got intrigued. It's been a long time since he saw Sean being like this. “What's the matter, Cohen? Let me guess, it's a woman, right?” His brows raised before a tiny smirk appeared on his lips. He was right. Sean only shut his eyes firmly and drank the alcohol in his glass. He clenched his jaw while still bothered. “Is it your new secretary?” He asked again with a sigh. “I don't want to leave her here. I asked her to come but she declined,” Dahlia is totally d
