"Distracted by your presence? How could I be disturbed by your presence?" She asked, rolling her eyes. She was distracted and knew she would focus better on her work if he were not there. She kept raising her head and imagining what could happen between them, and as far as her imagination ran, the more her heartbeat in fear mixed with excitement.

"If I am not distracting, then I am sure that you definitely would not mind me sitting here," he said in a low tone.

"I am just wondering why you would rather sit there than go home and rest in your bed," she said. She could not believe that was all she had made up her mind to come up with. She should have thought to say something better than that.

"I am not complaining, so I do not see any reason why you should compile on my behalf," he said, shrugging. He tapped on his phone; she was curious to know what it was that he had been looking at since. He was doing all of these things to her, and yet he seemed too far for her to be okay.

Lial knew that there was no fighting it again if she had not been able to send him out when he first appeared with a plastic bag in hand; she should have known that there was no going back for her. He sent her home in a car and told her he would be in touch the next day. "For what?" she had asked, but his response was a wink in her direction, and then he asked the driver to go. "So tell me everything that happened," Arietta said over the phone. Since Arietta and her brother broke it off completely, Arietta had avoided the situation, and Lila knew it was the right thing for her to do. Continuously showing up there was not going to be good for her, but they both kept in touch so much that one might assume they were the ones in a relationship. Arietta had said multiple times over the phone that they needed to meet, but Lila had apologized because she knew she was the one to go over since she could come. Lial had promised to come as soon as she met her unrealistic deadline. Arietta de

Damien lay in bed with his eyes shut tight enough that they formed lines around his eyes. He had been trying for almost half an hour to fall asleep, but it felt like everything was reminding him of how he felt when Lila stared down at him. He shook and stirred in bed until he finally sat upright in bed. "I have to do something about this," he murmured to himself as he got out of bed and changed out of his pyjamas. He knew that if he stressed his body enough, he could sleep easily, so he went down to the gym in the basement and began to run the treadmill. He felt tired after a while, but he knew it was not enough to make him fall asleep. He lifted some weights, and then, when he knew he felt a bit exhausted, he got up to rest. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her eyes staring back at him with so much intensity. THE NEXT DAYDamien got out of bed very early, so he could not just fall asleep as easily, and his subconscious had kept him awake for longer, so he thought he would be a

"Let me get this straight," Sam said, jumping down from the stool he had positioned himself on."Get what straight," Damien said almost, gritting his teeth together. He regretted asking him; he wished that Sam could just answer the question and let it go instead of trying to make a big deal out of it. A teasing expression climbed his face, and he knew he would not get out of this one so easily."You are asking me how you can know if you like a third party, isn't it?" Sam asked. He was still trying to control himself, but he was 100 per cent sure that Damien was asking about himself. "A friend of mine is asking, and I just wanted to know." "A friend of yours? I thought I was your only friend." Of course, Sam knew that Damien did not have any other person so close to them that they would think of calling themselves friends, yet he was still so brazen to lie in his face. "You have a friend that I am not aware of?" he added, trying to act hurt even though all he wanted to do was burst i

Evangeline knew her husband was hiding something from him, but no matter how much she pressed him and forced him to speak, he just brushed it off. She had to get the talk out of his mouth as soon as she could, and she was ready that morning to do just that. "Are you really not going to tell me what happened between you and Oliver? Since you came back from the meeting, you have not said a word about it," Evangeline said. When he was afraid of going to meet Oliver, thinking that it was a trap, she was the one who encouraged him, yet there was no feedback so she could know what to do. "I have told you countless times that you would know when the time is right." "And each time you tell me, I also make a duty to remind you that you did not get to these places all by yourself; there was always me who pushed you up. You should not be keeping anything from me. You should be telling me everything at every step of the way," Evangeline said. Gavin could not argue that, but it was not because

FRIDAY NIGHT "Where are you going dressed like that?" Oliver looked up and down at his sister, who had come into the kitchen to get a glass of water. The dress she was wearing barely covered anything, which was rare for her. She had always been a good girl who abided by the rules, and he would swear this was a dream if he had not been living out the entire day. She turned to him, and the extreme makeup on her face scared him a bit. "What?" she asked, looking at him as she blinked rapidly. "I asked where you were going," he jumped out of the chair he was sitting in while eating a boring bowl of plain oats. She had thought he would be snugly tucked in his bedroom, and that was the reason she was ready to leave the house. But maybe this was a good thing; he would see her going out, and she did not need to sneak out. "Oh, I am going clubbing," she said. His face showed horror because clubbing was not something she randomly did; in fact, he had never seen her talk about going out of

"Mr Carson?" Damien looked at the time and then looked down at his phone. Why would he be calling him at this time? Did they become that close? He slid his finger across his phone and put the phone to his ears. "Hello Damien," Oliver's voice rang with family across the line. Damien shifted in his chair, a bit uncomfortable, as he did not understand when they came to be able to be familiar with each other. He cleared his throat and turned his head to the side. "Hello, Mr. Carson." "Do you know what Lila is doing today?" Oliver asked.Damien did not like that he was so caught up with Lila and her family when all he had to do was get revenge. Seeing that Oliver was the one who was calling him, he knew that he had to act shocked. He shook his head to himself. "Seeing how quiet you are, it seems that you are unaware of what is going on; I thought you two got into some kind of relationship." Damien could sense that Oliver wanted him to care; he was supposed to act the part of a caring

"What are you doing here?" Lila asked, running her hand through her hair. Damien looked down at her exposed lap and how firmly the guy sitting beside her was gripping it. Damien raised his head, and their eyes met. The man recognized who he was, but he did not care; this was a club, and he was with this girl first. "What are you doing?" Damien asked, looking down at his hand and then tracing it upwards. "I do not think it is any of your business," the man said, causing a sharp sound to leave Damien's lip. He closed the gap between them, so he was staring at the man in his eyes. "It is to my business?" he asked and then let out a small annoyed laugh. He held his hand and pressed on the side. The man tried to act as if his grip was too tight for him to handle. "How can you touching my girlfriend so sexually not be my business?" Lila was getting drunk, but at least she could understand what was going on. She felt her heart flutter as if it were going to fly away, and she knew that th

"What are you doing here?" Lila managed to let it out of her mouth at once. She smiled to herself as she was proud of her achievement. She raised her eyes to him and noticed how he dimmed his eyes. "I came here to..." He trailed off because he could not explain why he came here. He was promising himself that he had nothing to do with her, and yet he could not stop thinking of her. "Oliver called me," he choked out. "Oliver? Why?" she asked, barely able to keep herself up. He slid beside her and used part of his body to keep her up. "He told me that we needed to come get you because we thought you might be drunk." She did not know if it was because she was drunk or if he was the one stuttering, but his speech was all distorted in her head. "So why did you stop me from having fun?" she asked, pouting. Damien looked away because he couldn't deny that her dishevelled hair, beat-down makeup, and pout made her look cuter than he remembered. The alcohol she had drunk had given her cheeks

Lila did not know what came over her but she did not have time to think because Rosa had dropped her off at Damien's house with nothing but luck. She was not sure if she had enough money to bail out of that place if she changed her mind halfway. She took out her phone to see if she could call her driver to come get her but it was dead. She sighed and then walked to the gate. "Since I am here, I might as well get this over with." "Hello, ma'am," Grey said before she could press on the doorbell. The gate was sectioned in such a way that one could see inside from outside and vice versa. "Is Damien in?" she asked, trying to act as cool as possible. "I want to see him," she added when he stood there looking at her as if she had said nonsense. "Yes," Grey said, shaking his head and going to open the gate for her. Her eyes had cleared a bit but she knew that she was brave because of the intoxication. She cleared her throat and waited for him to say something. "Come on in; I will go get h

Lila and Rosa sat under the tree. At first they both chatted away, talking loudly with Amber as if she were really there. Lila was sure that if anyone saw them, they would turn their noses at them and wonder what madness they were trying to portray, but she did not mind doing it if it made the woman sitting in front of her feel better. After a while of chatting, Rosa pulled out a small bottle of wine; it was not a popular brand and it was a strange bottle to her. Lila had never seen any wine that came in such a small bottle. "This was her favourite," she murmured as she set three plastic cups on the ground and began pouring inside them. "Amber, I finally brought you a drink because I believe that soon you can finally rest up," she said, pouring the drink at the base of the tree. "You have to drink every single drop; it was a hassle to get this," Rosa added as if she was scolding the girl."Here," she gave another cup to Lila, who took it. "You have no excuse not to drink; I will make

By the time Rosa had made sure they had enough cookies that their tooth hurt, Kevin retired to his room and then they went to the grave site. Kevin had stayed down not because he wanted to but because Rosa was suddenly herself and was now bossing him around as she used to do before. "It is going to be a long ride to the grave. Are you sure you do not want me to get anything for you?" "Anything to eat?" Lila asked, shocked. She had never been filled with cookies before; they say that there is a first time for everything and this was truly a first for her. "Yes, maybe some bread or just anything," Rosa replied and Lila shook her head. "Don't be shy and tell me; even if we don't have it at home, I will stop over at the store and get it for you." Rosa's offer sounded sweet but Lila was sure that she did not need to eat anything again. "I am fine," Lila said and then they left for the car. Lila helped Rosa into the car before turning around and getting in by herself. "We can go now," s

Lila stopped over at a flower shop and got two bouquets of flowers on her way to Rosa's place. She stood by the door her sweaty palms making it difficult for her to ring the bell. She pressed her hand against her clothes and raised her hand again. As if she was being watched she looked around to make sure that there were no eyes on her. As she raised her hand the door flung open and Rosa stood in front of her with a big smile across her face. "Hi, I was just about to ring the bell" she said taking a deep breath. "I know" Rosa said pushing the door wider and then stepped out. She pointed to the camera that Lila seemed to have missed and then she raised her phone and waved it to her. "I have been watching you for a while now" she added. "I am sorry, I am a bit nervous" Lila said licking her lips. She had licked it so much that all of the lip gloss she had put to prevent her lips from drying out was gone by now. "I can understand. My husband is a bit intimidating but once you get to

"Where do you think you are going?" Tessa asked as Lila descended from the stairs. Lila had expected a scolding from her mom because she allowed the plan fall through but insisted she just gave her a look and went into her room. This was the first time she was seeing her since she got inside last night. "To see Amber" "But Amber is dead" Tessa words came out without any form of remorse. "She is" Lila breathed out. "She is dead but I am going to her grave to say hello and apologize for making her leave this world earlier than she was supposed to. "Why do you have to be the one to apologize for that?" Aletta asked walking into the room and standing by the door frame. "If I feel guilty then don't you think that I need to apologize?" "So you are apologizing to clear your guilt?" Oliver asked coming out of nowhere and placing his arm around Aletta's shoulders. It felt as if they had ganged up against her. She gulped down the lump in her throat and shook her head. "I have to say you are pretty good with kids," Rosa said as they approached them. Damien and Jason had played so much that Lila was afraid that the boy was now attached to him in just a few hours. It kind of made her feel bad that the thing that took her weeks to do just took him less than an hour to achieve. "You doubted me," he said, and he felt the need to impress. "I used to volunteer at an orphanage every weekend until I got too busy," he said with a proud tone. Both ladies did not miss that he was trying to humble brag but it was obvious that he was terrible at it. "You should go back to volunteering there; I am sure that you were making such a great impact; it would be a shame if they had to let you go," Rosa said. "I should?""Of course you should; I think you are better as a volunteer there than as the chairman of your company." She wondered if she did not have a filter to take out those things before they got out of her mouth."No, I did not put a tracker on you because that would be illegal.""Yeah," she nodded but somehow was not convinced by his legal or illegal speech thing. "So..." she trailed off as she demanded an answer."I asked your mom and she sent me your location." Lila blinked. Her mom sent Rosa and Damien here? Why would she do that?"My mom?""I told her that I wanted to speak to you and she allowed me to come here," Rosa said, taking a step forward so she was closer to her. "Can we talk for a few minutes?" Rosa was sure that speaking to her would bring closure for both of them. Lila did not need to feel guilty when she had done nothing wrong and Rosa wanted to let go of all the resentment she car

Don't worry; it is normal to have second thoughts about things like this. But I promise you that once this passes, you will be glad you did this." By the fourth time of meeting her son, Jason has began to bond with her better than the first time. "He really likes you" Gavin commented. "Of course he does. I am his mother" Lila replied. She could not believe this guy was not still comfortable with leaving her alone with the boy. They had planned to have the boy kidnapped today but he was not going away. She knew that if he stayed with her then the plan was going to fail and she could not have it fail. She would be in great trouble if it did fail in her hands. Since she could not get him to leave her alone with the boy, Tessa made Oliver to call him out. He was to act as if he wanted to take him out for drinks to accept him into the family and then that was when disaster would strike. Lila was not sure it would pan out the way they wanted since he had been careful with leaving Jason with her. It was as if he was picking up on what was going on."That true" he said slapping his thigh. His phone began ringing and Lila held her b
