“A-aiden, wait-!”

Before I had a chance to do anything, he had already revved up the engine of his car and sped away, leaving me in a cloud of dust. It all happened so fast - one moment he was beside me and the next moment he was gone. I tried to chase after him, but it felt like it was too late; there was no way that I could catch him now. He put more and more distance between us with each passing second, until eventually his car dwindled into nothing.

The moment I see Aiden, memories and visceral fear come flooding back. He was a criminal in the past, and I witnessed firsthand how he could take someone's life without hesitation or remorse. It's like his past is coming back to haunt me all over again, making my heart beat faster and my breathing quicken. This isn't the same person I once knew; he is capable of such brutality and violence if provoked.

If I don’t stop him, something bad might really happen.

I glanced around and spotted a taxi cab in the distance, my immediate response

I couldn’t bring myself to look at him in the eyes as he drove us back to our apartment. His knuckles had whitened as they clutched the steering wheel more and more tightly, and I could see his jaw had tensed while he stared straight ahead. It was terrifying being in the car with him like this, his shoulders tense and barely a word uttered between us. We were both aware of each other's presence but it felt like miles separating us because neither of us were talking.I was gripping my seat tightly, unable to take my eyes off the window in an attempt to calm myself down. After his outburst at the amusement park just earlier today, I have no idea what will happen between us in the near future. Will he be able to forgive me for what happened? Questions buzzed around my head like flies and all I could do was sit there with a heavy heart. But I knew it was impossible for him to forgive me. I looked over at him and saw his hands sparking up a cigarette before the flame illuminated his face.

Aiden clenched his jaw and looked away, avoiding my gaze. Despite the tension in the air, I continued to explain my point of view to him so he could understand where I was coming from. His silence indicated that he was struggling to comprehend what I was saying, despite his best efforts.“I didn’t like what happened, Aiden. But I was powerless to do anything about it. It hurts to admit it, but I felt weak and useless in that moment, unable to go up against such an overwhelming force and fight for myself. Those years of neglect had left me so unaccustomed to receiving any attention at all that when I did get even just a little bit of it, the sensation was almost too much for me handle.”I hesitantly placed his hand over my chest, gently resting it upon my beating heart. It felt strange and comforting at the same time as I stared into his eyes, feeling a sense of peace. His touch sent a wave of warmth through my body and I felt the steady rhythm of my heart thudding away beneath his pal

“Good morning, honey.”I stirred awake when I felt a soft object touch my forehead, it was a bit moist yet fluffy. After taking a few moments to gain my bearings, I realized it must be Aiden's lips that touched me in such an affectionate way. Slowly, I opened my eyes to find him eagerly staring down at me with his endearing gaze. He looked so sweet and caring, lovingly admiring me as he nestled close to my body. His embrace felt warm and comforting like a gentle pillow.“How’s your sleep?”I couldn't bring myself to utter a word; it felt like a dream. Aiden's gaze was so different compared to last night, when he was so cold and distant. He seemed almost apologetic as his eyes met mine, as if he regretted the way he had treated me. For some reason, I found myself wanting to forgive him yet again - my heart and mind were at odds with one another. His face softened into an expression of warmth, like he wanted nothing more than for me.“I-i’m good.” I swallowed the lump in my throat. He n

I took a quick glance around the room, and my gaze eventually settled on the bed beside me. It was supposed to be occupied by someone else, but instead it was vacant. This emptiness filled me with a deep sense of sorrow that reached all the way to my core.“A-aiden?”I couldn't shake the feeling that it was all just a dream. It felt like an actual experience, as if it were something that had really taken place. My emotions were so intense and vivid, I almost wanted to believe that it was entirely true. I took some time to reflect on the situation and mull over what had happened, but no matter how hard I tried it seemed impossible to determine if this dreamlike experience was real or imagined… Until finally, I slowly came to the realization.Aiden is gone.I tried to shake off the feeling of anguish that was gradually seeping through my body. I slowly got out of bed, surveying my body and realizing I wasn't wearing any clothes. But strangely enough, there was no signs of soreness in my

I slowly took a step back, shaking my head as my eyes scanned her from head to foot. No, she can’t be here. This can’t be happening. Why is she here? The shock that took over me was so intense that I couldn't speak; I felt completely paralyzed. My heart began to race as my mind raced with thoughts of my unfinished business with my mother. Even lifting a finger seemed impossible in this moment. Time stood still, and all I could do was focus on what the future would hold for us both now that we had these new revelations to contend with. What would she think? Would she be disappointed in me, or understanding of the circumstances?I cannot bring myself to return to her. The thought of living with my mother again after all the mistreatment and abuse I endured is too unbearable. She had always been so cruel, and now that she knows that I am aware of the injustices she has done me, it would be far too difficult for us to coexist together. So instead, I have chosen a different path - one in w

“So, what’s for dinner?”As my mother was bent over the drawers, her focus entirely on finding what she was looking for, I took a few steps closer towards the knife. Its sharp and glinting blade sparkled in the light of the kitchen and my heart started to beat faster. All I had to do was reach out a hand and it would be mine. My mind raced with possibilities of what I could do with this weapon.I gulped, nervously gazing between the knife and my seemingly oblivious mother. Despite my reluctance, I had to do something. It suddenly dawned on me that if I don’t act quickly this situation can tragically worsen. I know it's a drastic measure but it might be the only way to protect my self from further hurt and indignity. With one more tense glance towards my mom and then the knife again, I made up my mind.Just when I had unexpectedly gripped the knife tightly, as if to make sure it wouldn't slip away, mother whipped around to confront me. I quickly tried to hide the knife behind my back,

I am your mother! I raised you! I brought you to this world!”She had reached her limit and began to forcefully drag me along with her, though I didn't know where we were going. The cliff we were standing on overlooked the city below us, its lights glowing in darkness like thousands of distant stars that had found their way home to us.I've always been aware of the fact that my mother has never had a very high opinion of me. From the moment I was born, she seemed to have a contempt for me that grew over time. Not only was I constantly being criticized by her, but she would often blame me for things even when it wasn't my fault. It seemed like no matter how hard I tried or how much effort I put into pleasing her, she would always find something to be disappointed in.I was aware of this all along, but why did I get so hurt when I heard those words come out of her mouth?
