The parlour echoed the loud sound of silence as I sat on my throne thinking about the next step to take. Martin was there too. Yet, he dared not interrupt my thoughts. I saw the face of the man I had just taken his life.

I had taken lots of lives but somehow, this felt different. I couldn't take my mind off his eyes; those gloomy eyes of his, that called out for mercy through his lips. I could hear his voice ringing in my head and I knew I could have stopped myself from killing him. What I wasn't sure of was if it was the best decision to take his life. I wasn't to be blamed for everything though. I barely had time to think.

I was left with two choices that didn't even seem like choices at all. I either had to spare him and look weak or kill him and look strong. I chose the latter. I had to be strong for my people. Yet, if only I had counsel on how to achieve both; I'd have appreciated it.
