Beyond The Dream

Gasping for breath, I looked up to see Alpha Matthew standing before me.

“Have you locked up Everly? Have you treated Hannah’s wounds?” I asked urgently.

Alpha Matthew looked at me in confusion. “Was Hannah injured?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, Everly bit her when you and Theophile went to look for that magic dust,” I explained.

Alpha Matthew chuckled and then rubbed my head affectionately. “Everly never hurt someone. You’re just having a bad dream,” he said.

“But I was sure of what I said,” I insisted.

“Mate, you’re just having a nightmare. Everly never bit Hannah at all,” Alpha Matthew reassured me.

A furrow formed on my forehead as I struggled to shake off the lingering feeling of awkwardness.

Could it be a dream? If it were, why did it feel so vividly real?

My neck still tingled with numbness from the sensation of strangulation that I just experienced.
