Leaving The Pack

Not long after, the pack members arrived and Alpha was furious when he saw Evelyn. Every male that was still unmated that believed Evelyn would be their mate was beyond furious. Blake explained everything to them and they all blamed him for it, but not as much as he blamed himself. 

"Pray nothing happens to her" Luke barked at him. Nobody cared about Blake's injury and neither did he. He just needed her to be alive. 

"I never knew what she saw in you." Someone said to Blake. Blake didn't know his name, he doesn't know most of their names, he can only remember the look of hatred in the eyes whenever they bullied him. 

When they got back to the pack everybody was surprised at the state of Evelyn, Blake was in worse condition but nobody cared. He had multiple broken ribs and his face was all mashed up and he could barely keep his eyes open. He was limping behind and no one cared to assist him and he didn't mind, he was accustomed to being alone and surviving alone. Everybody was busy blaming him except Luna, who just gave him a pitiful look, but worried for her daughter made her unable to attend to Blake. Alpha tried to console her and Blake watched the couple being devasted by the condition of their daughter. Evelyn was already with the pack doctor, everybody was waiting for her. Blake could hear some of the girls saying how Evelyn will no longer be beautiful after this. 

"It's a lie because her beauty is beyond physical appearance." Blake muttered to himself and was only able to hold himself back from approaching the girls. He knew it would be worse if he causes any more commotion. 

They all rushed towards the doctor when she came out.

"How is she?" Luna asked

"She is fine, the wolfsbane is off her system, but you know a cut with a Wolfsbane is not easily healed." she said and exhaled "Her face is destroyed." As the words left the doctor's lips, Blake received a punch from Luke that instant sending him a few feet away. It's been a few hours since they got back so Blake's high healing ability had healed some of his injuries but not so much. So, taking a punch from someone as strong as Luke was hard on him

"It's all your fault" he barked, it took 3 wolves to hold him down. Blake laid on the ground crying. He never knew what happened next, he just knew everybody left, leaving him alone. 

"Go freshen up." He heard Luna say. He looked at her and she smiled at him, full of kindness, like the day he first saw her. "Your injury will heal since you are a wolf after all." She would be surprised if she knew how fast it was healing. 

"I am sorry." Blake cried. He knew it wouldn't change anything but it was the only thing he could say. 

"I hate myself for being powerless."

"It's not your fault, so go freshen up." she said and left. Blake felt she received a link message and that's why she left abruptly, but the truth was the Luna didn't want to break down in front of Blake. He dragged himself up and left to freshen up. After that, he tried many times to see Evelyn but Luke refused so he waited till night. 

Blake snuck in when he sensed Luke had left. His years of leaving alone in the wilderness had made him a master of stealth. He came inside her hospital room, she was still asleep with a bandage covering the injured part of her face. 

"Hi, Evelyn," He called thinking she would wake up but she didn't "I am sorry for being powerless, if I couldn't protect you I wonder how I can protect my mate." He gave out a dry laugh "I hear mate bond is the strongest, so the guilt I feel now for not protecting you is little compared to what I will feel if my mate gets hurt." If only he knew how much Evelyn hated the thought of him having a mate that is not her, he would have chosen another thing to talk about.

 He took her hand and rubbed it "I know you will get a strong mate, the strongest of them all, Alpha of all Alphas, he will protect you even if he has to split the sky." Blake believed that that was the destiny of Evelyn. He can't see the future but he believed that Evelyn was too great to be mated to someone ordinary of little above ordinary. He knew she would still one day shine the brightest and he is saddened by the thought of her with another. He looked at her half-face and he still thought it put the moon to shame. 

"I love you, Evelyn, with you I don't care about mate." He cried, but stopped or tried to stop with a sniff. "I have a feeling I will be so jealous when your mate comes. But then again I will also have mine and I will hate myself for being weak, so I have made up my mind" he felt her stir but she didn't wake up "I will exclude myself from this world, it is better I don't meet my mate than not protect her." He stood up to leave because he sensed Luke coming back. He kissed her the last time before he left. He made sure to leave the pack without notice and it wasn't a hard thing to do since he was invisible to them. He regretted not properly saying goodbye to Luna. He made sure to go far away, He ventured deeper into the forest. He planned to exclude himself from the world.

"I am sorry Evelyn I wish you all the best in life." He gave one last look to the pack before disappearing into the night. Others would have felt sorry for their mate that would have to spend the rest of her life unmated. Since they are created in pairs, his mate would never be able to meet him for he planned to spend the remainder of his days alone. Blake was feeling more guilt for leaving Evelyn than he was for his mate, whoever she would have been.
