The next morning I decided to do a little work outside, since it was a weekend. I came out of my room with a tight short and mini-top. I found my parents on the dining table.
“Looking sharp,” Dad said with a smile,
“Morning Dad,” I greeted him,
“Morning sweetheart,” he responded and continued with his tea,
“Where are you going?” mom asked from the dining table,
“Morning to you mom,”
“Morning Love,” she smiled and turned serious, “but where are you going?” she asked again,
“To work out.” I replied,
“You never work out,” she said to me,
“I have always worked out, mom. I just stopped when I came home,” I responded to her,
“Well, I didn’t know that,” she said with a hurtful look,
“They are a lot of things you don’t know about me mom. So don’t feel bad, you get to find out in no time,” I replied and Kissed both of them on the cheek, “see you later,” I said and zoomed out the front door.
“Well, that’s disappointing,” Mrs Rust, grunted as she sat down with a slump,
“No need to feel bad,” Daniel encouraged her, “You’re doing great.”
“Easy for you to say,” she spat out smacking him on his head,
“Hey…” he called but she was already upstairs. “This happens when you marry a woman stronger than you, I hope Sophie doesn’t turn out like that,” he murmured.
“I miss this,” Sophie Murmured, “When last did I exercise my born like this?” just as I was still questioning myself,
“Sophie Rust?” someone called out to me,
I turned my head left to right, but saw no one, “Seriously, I thought I just heard my name,” I murmured aloud,
“Of course you did,” The voice came again, “Sophie it’s me!”
“Me, who?” I zoomed up, “A ghost?” I whispered, is there even something like that? Right… you believe mafia exists but not ghost. Good call Sophie “Sorry ghost I’m still alive,” I yelled back.
“Ghost? Are you crazy? Look up for crying out loud.” The voice said,
“Up?” I murmured as I raised my head to find that the house opposite where I stopped to take a breath… at the balcony was “Natalie Kova?” I hurried over to the place, “hey you…”
“Hey back at you,” she said smiling,
“What are you doing here?”
“I should be asking you weirdo,” Nat replied, “Please… you’re not stocking me, right?”
“Huh and why would I do that?” I responded staring at her from the ground field outside,
“Well, because you’re standing out there,”
“Seriously Nat! If you ask me if I was stocking your father…. Now that is a ….”
“Oh shut up, you’re disgusting.” she said brushing my words off, “But On a serious note, what are you doing around here?”
“What do you mean? I live like four blocks away from here,” I replied to her questioned,
“What, you live close by?”
“Yeah!”
“I didn’t know that,”
“Me neither,” I said with a smile, “Anyways come down let’s do some exercise together.”
“Is that what you’re doing?” she asked,
“Yes… It’s going to be fun,”
“I don’t know…,” she said then halted, “Fine… Just wait there for me,”
“Sure,” I replied with a grin.
Natalie, hurried and put on her gym cloths came running down from the stirs, just as she was about to open the door, “Where are you going?” A muscular voice asked from the sitting room,
“Oh Dad! Hmm nothing, just going for a run,” she replied nervously,
“A run?” he asked,
“Yes.. You know like stretches and all that,” she responded,
“Why would you need to do stretches and run outside when there is a room full of equipment for excises inside?” he ask with a suspicious tone, “Natalie?”
“Ugh .... Fine, I’m going with a friend.”
“A friend?”
“Yes Papa, a friend from school, she is waiting outside,” she said pointing to the window,
“Outside? For pit sakes Natalie, what did i tell you about inviting people to the house?” he said with a raised voice, hos expression became steamed
“I didn’t invite her, she lives like four blocks away from here,” Natalie replied to her father, a little irked,
“Four blocks?” Alexander moved a bit to the window with hands on his gun… he slide it open a little and found a surprising scene of a brat standing outside in the sun with her arms and legs in the air, he couldn’t get a clear picture of her face. Well if she is from this community, then they is nothing he can do about it, as long as she doesn’t cause any harm. Sighing, “Fine… but stay where i can see you. Understood,” He warned
“Sure dad thanks.” Natalie said and walked out to find Sophie throwing her hands in the air, “What are you doing?”
“Oh! Exercising,” I answered,
“You do realize, you are throwing punches in the air, right?”
“It’s called muscle exercise.” I replied,
“You’re wired,” she spat out
“Coming from someone who spends close to two hours getting ready for a run, that’s a compliment.”
“Shut up… beat you to the field,” she blurted out and zoomed off,
“Hey… that’s cheating,” I called out and zoomed after her.
Kova sighed as he watched his daughter zoomed off with the new friend. He turned to the guard, “I want you to find out everything you can about that girl,” he said, “I can’t deal with an inside spy right now, got it?”
“Yes boss,” he replied and left.
“Relax Alex!” Ruska steel Kova’s right hand man said from the balcony, “I don’t think anything can go wrong within the community, so, you don’t have anything to worry about.” He smiled,
“You seem so sure,”
“Of course Boss, if that girl is indeed from this community, the she has to be a child of one of the high officers, so nothing can go wrong.” He sighed and sat down on the sofa, “and besides, I think it’s okay if she had a little fun. I’ve never seen Natalie this happy,” he added, knowing that Kova would do anything for his children, ‘a gangster with a heart’ you could say.
“Have you heard from Russian?” he asked all of a sudden, with a serious expression.
Sighing, then again gangster would always be a gangster, “Yes, boss,”
“And?”
“And everything seems okay, for the now,” Ruska replied,
“Good, inform London to keep an eye out as well. Any sudden unwarranted movement, they are to open fire, understood?” he commanded,
“Yes boss,” he replied and glanced at his hand, “Do you want me to put Michael to sleep?” he requested,
“No… I’ll do that myself,”
Sighing “But boss don’t you think…”
“No Ruska I don’t think, I’ll take care of my kids myself with my rules and nothing else.” He replied coldly,
“Wow!” Ruska replied stunned, “You didn’t even let me finish,” he complained,
“I don’t need you to finish anything.” He turned his cold eyes at him, “why are you still here?” he snapped
“Right, I’m leaving,” he responded and stood up,
As soon as Ruska left, Kova turned to the wall clock and grunt, he picked up his phone, dallied Nat’s number, it rang for a while, then she picked, “where are you?” he questioned,
“Ugh…at the field dad, I told you I was going for a work-out,” A tiny female voice replied from the other end,
“Right, and I think it’s enough now, return.” He commanded,
“What? But dad, it’s not even been an hour since I left the house…” she complained,
“Your point?” he demanded jadedly
“We’re not done. I’m here with Sophie, and we still have…”
“Natalie Kova,” he called, cutting her off, “You have thirty-second to return or you’ll be grounded for life,” he snapped and hanged up the phone.
It’s not even been up to two seconds since he hanged up, Natalie came running into the house all out of breath, “I can’t believe you just said that dad, is it a crime to want to play with my friends?” she questioned,
“You are not supposed to have friends, Natalie.” He replied without turning to her,
"Why not? Since I can remember, you've always been saying that…I'm not a kid anymore, Dad. Just because I am a gangster's child, doesn't mean I can't be with other people. I want to make friends," Nat asserted, her eyes locked onto her father's, a defiance burning in them.
"And I said you can't," Alex replied, his voice firm, his expression unyielding.
“Why can't I?” she questioned, challenging him, her tone laced with frustration and a longing for normalcy.
His silence hung in the air, heavy with unspoken reasons and the weight of their dangerous reality.
"Don't you dare use that tone with me, young lady? I'm your father, and I do not owe you any explanation," he snapped at her Instead, his eyes blazing with anger."Well, I wish you weren't, and I hate you! Ugh!" she yelled back, storming out of the house. He called after her, "Hey Natalie, get back here! Damn, that girl and her rebellious phase," he cursed under his breath.******I arrived home feeling furious. "Who grounds children at this age? Nat is not even a kid?" I questioned myself bitterly as I pushed the door open. "I mean, what's so wrong with working outside? I thought he was handsome, but with such an attitude, I'm starting to doubt my first impression of him." I let out a sigh and headed to the refrigerator, taking out a bottle of water. Just as I opened it, the doorbell rang.I turned, wondering who could be coming over. Opening the door, I found Nat standing outside, barefoot."Hi," she said with a shivering voice, "can I come in? I'm freezing out here.""Oh, yeah! Sor
Alex sighed heavily as he looked at the white-painted walls of the house. According to the information he had obtained, this was the only white house in the community, belonging to the highest-ranking agent in the force. It was the first time he had seen a couple of agents who had lasted together for a long time and seemed strong. The fact that Natalie had befriended the agent's daughter was unacceptable. Regardless of the disagreements between the Kova, there shouldn't be any sort of friendship with that world. "Boss, should we go in?" one guard asked him.Sighing again, Alex replied, "No... There's no need because Natalie won't come out without me accompanying her." He said and proceeded to the door, but to his surprise, the parents were absent, and he only met with the daughter. Of all the people, it had to be her? Alex thought to himself, with annoyance. ****"Is Natalie here?" he asked without sparing me a glance.‘You don't want to look at me, huh?’ I thought. "No, she is not,
As Nat continued her arrangements, I took the opportunity to try on the clothes, which fit perfectly. Among them, I discovered a beautiful princess-like gown, pure white with lace and silver stones. I picked it up and asked, "Oh... can I try this on?" Nat lifted her head and replied, "Of course, although I doubt it will fit you, but any..." Before she could finish her statement, I hurried into the bathroom to try it on. "Whatever," she sighed and returned to her work. With excitement, I peeled off the clothes I was wearing and slipped the soft lace gown onto my body. Oh, what a feeling of softness! I let my hair down, and as I glanced at my reflection, I couldn't help but smirk. "Ah, I look like a princess from a fairytale." I found one of Nat's heels in the bathroom and decided to try it on as well. Ready to show off to Nat, I walked out of the bathroom slowly. "Hey, check..." But my words trailed off as I noticed Nat talking with someone. I lifted my head to see that it was Mr.
****"Natalie, Natalie!" Alexander Kova called out, standing outside his daughter's room. He sighed, growing impatient. "Natalie, open up or I'm gonna break it down," he snapped."What?" Natalie pushed the door open, annoyance evident in her voice."Did you not hear me the first time?" he asked."Well, I'm not talking to you," Nat replied.Sighing, Kova pleaded, "Let me come in.""Sorry, papa. If there's something you want, just say it from there," she replied, sounding jaded. He sighed again, struggling to hold himself back. "Okay, I'm sorry. I know I was a bit rude to your friend," he said, offering an apology.Natalie turned to her father, trying to process what she had just heard.Did her father just apologize, or was she hearing things? She pretended to understand, "Well, you did more than a bit, Dad. Sophie is unique in a good way. She's always hyper and never gets angry. But after what you pulled, I was surprised to see her mad expression, and it wasn't pleasant," she told him,
Despite my parents wanting to stay home to monitor my movements, they had to leave due to an emergency at work. Unaware of this fact, I was contemplating whether or not to go out. Just as I was pondering, my phone rang. I picked it up and said, "Hello?""Sophie, it's mom," the firm voice said."Oh, hey, mom. Why are you calling me on the phone? Aren't you downstairs?" I asked, confused."No, dear. We received an emergency call from the office, so we're on our way there. I don't know when we'll return," she explained. "Just in case we can't make it back today, there is enough food in the freezer to last you, okay?""Okay, mother. But you don't have to worry. I'm not a child, you know," I reassured her."To us, you are. Just be careful and don't go out at night, okay?""Alright, I love you.""I love you too, pumpkin." She hung up the phone."Great, another night alone," I murmured to myself. Just then, I received a message from Nat, telling me to start coming. I replied with an 'Okay.'
*****Despite his disbelief, it was crucial for me to ensure Nat's innocence in this matter. "Nat never mentioned you or her family," I lied. "If she did, she made sure I remained unaware.""How did you find out then?" he inquired, referring to my parents."My parents are equally clueless," I fibbed. "Actually, it was quite obvious," I asserted. "Your manner of speech, the plenty guards, and my love for gangster movies made it easy to figure out." I took a sip from the beverage and sighed. "Seriously, is this just juice?" I questioned."What's your point?" he asked, ignoring my question, his gaze cold."I'm Nineteen," I lied."You mean eighteen. You're still a child to me," he stated without even looking at me.Frowning, I turned to Nat, who suddenly sighed, "Don't give me that look; I never said anything to him," She accused."I never claimed you did," I assured her. But how did he know my actual age? I thought to myself. "Yeah, right!" she retorted, digging into her food.Alexander
******Feeling a sense of unease as the abundance of food sat untouched on the table, I glanced around the room. Mr. Kova was nowhere to be seen, and Nat had disappeared upstairs. As a guest, I couldn't find comfort in this situation, so I made the decision to stand up and head towards the door.As I got closer, I caught sight of Mr. Kova sitting on a stool near his mini bar, engaged in a phone conversation. I momentarily froze and just gazed at him lustfully. Natalie seemed to think I had a crush on her father. "Do I have a crush on him?" I whispered, and she did mention something like, ‘the others, does that mean other have also lusted after him?But I have got to admit, when I first saw him at school, something stirred within me. He possessed a captivating beauty and charm that could draw anyone in, An Eighteen years old has a crush on---- no, I shook my head, "No, it's not just a crush but something more," I whispered to myself, dismissing the notion of it being a mere crush.Almo
I woke up the next day feeling sick to the stomach; my head felt like it was going to explode. As I got out of bed and made my way downstairs, I noticed the sun shining brightly, despite my terrible state. To my surprise, my parents had already returned from their trip."Wow, look who decided to join us," my mom remarked. "I thought you were going to sleep forever," she added.Sighing, I asked, "What are you talking about?" I hurried past her into the kitchen, replying after taking a sip of cold water, "I didn't know you guys were back.""Well, with the way you were sleeping, it would be difficult to know even if someone kidnapped you in your sleep," my father commented from the sofa."Oh, come on, dad. That will never happen," I replied dismissively. He responded with a noncommittal, "Hmmm."I turned to my mother, who gave me a strange look. "Seriously," I began."Do you know what time it is?" she asked after a pause.Snorting, I replied, "Of course, the sun is still shining in the s

Chapter 81 - Not yet the end“Sophie? Sophie?” Alex’s voice was frantic as Daniel laid her trembling body on the table. He turned to Drew, his tone urgent. “We need to operate now.”Drew didn’t hesitate, quickly setting out the operating tools. “Yes, right away.”“Operate on her? What are you talking about?” Alex suddenly demanded, confusion and anger rising in his voice, but no one answered him.Emily, who had already pieced together what was happening with her daughter, spoke up, her voice shaky. “We can’t do this here. We should wait until we land first.”“And risk losing the only chance to save her?” Drew shot back, his tone sharp.Still confused and growing more frustrated, Alex demanded, “Why does she need an operation to be saved?” His eyes darted from Avanska to Rick, then locked onto Drew. “Is there something you’re not telling me?”Avanska turned to Rick, whose nervous eyes were scanning the room as if searching for answers that weren’t there.“Answer me!” Alex’s voice thund
**Continuation**Meanwhile, on the far edge of the field.I gasped as blood dripped from my mouth. Killing this general was taking longer than I’d anticipated, and the first time bomb I’d planted when leaving the underground facility had already started going off.“We need to end this now,” I muttered, just as another bomb exploded in the distance. It felt like the universe was finally throwing me a bone—the general stumbled, losing his balance. I seized the moment, driving my dagger into his lower abdomen, pushing it deeper with all my strength. He groaned in agony and flung me off, but Alex and my mother were already on him, launching another attack from behind.I stood still for a moment, knowing if I waited for him to go down before making my next move, it would be too late.I scanned the area for someone reliable, but everyone was engaged in the battle—except for… Drew and my father.
****"Sorry, come again?" Daniel requested, with his eyes throwing a dagger at him.Drew’s face drained of color, his eyes widening with sudden fear as he realized he’d just betrayed himself. He stiffened, turning his head away, and cleared his throat awkwardly. “I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he stammered, attempting to mask his panic.“Isn’t it a bit late for that?” Daniel pressed, his voice cold and unwavering. “The look on your face tells me you know more than you’re letting on. I just watched my daughter writhing in pain, clutching her head. So if you say—”“Wait!” Drew interrupted, his voice rising in alarm. “You found her already?”Daniel’s eyes narrowed as he stepped closer, his anger palpable. “Yes, to be precise, she found us. Now, tell me what’s going on before it’s too late.”Drew swallowed hard, his composure crumbling under the weight of Daniel’s intense gaze. “I… I don’t think you’re ready for the truth,” he said, his voice trembling.Daniel’s gaze
~~~~For my plan to succeed, he needed to lower his guard, even a little. My eyes locked onto the grenade launcher in his hands. Damn...Dert… He was the last of the three generals. I didn't know the full extent of his power, but I knew killing him wouldn’t be easy. Still, it was better to face him in combat than to let him toy with my family's lives.I’d rather gamble with my life, I thought, a devilish grin spreading across my face as he loaded his grenade launcher.“Seriously, is that the best you can do?” I questioned him, marching forward, trying to make him lose his guard. Another grenade flew past my shoulder, leaving burns. I groaned in pain. “This’s hardly a fair fight,” I yelled. “Even when I killed the other generals, it was a fair fight.”He ignored me and continued firing. I didn’t give up, continuing to taunt him. “And you call yourself a man—a general at that.” I halted. “What a waste of a title,” I spat out.At my last comment, he suddenly paused and gently pulled back
~~~"This isn't happening," I murmured faintly.The grenade was almost upon my mother, and time seemed to slow. I reached out, heart pounding, cold dread filling me as I realized I might not make it in time.“No…” I found myself screaming, despite the deadly headache and the sharp pains ringing inside my skull. Just then, the cause of my current situation decided to do me a favor—MANA.It was as if I was suddenly filled with a kind of supernatural strength unlike anything before. Instead of running, I saw myself flying. In that instant, I threw myself on her, and she fell to the ground with a loud gasp.The grenade barely missed her as it flew past us, leaving a small cut on my shoulder, while pushing me off my mother and landing on some military men, blowing them to pieces.The chaos around me blurred into a grim symphony of screams and explosions, but all I could focus on was the faint rise and fall of my mother’s breath beneath me. My breaths came in ragged gasps, the pain still pu
****“What the...?” Emily’s voice faltered, her expression twisting in shock and horror. Her eyes flicked from the headless body of General Storm to the blood-drenched figure standing over it. Sophie stood there, motionless, covered in blood from head to toe.Her eyes locked onto Emily’s with a fierce, unyielding glare.Emily couldn’t believe what she saw—Sophie, the daughter she thought she knew, standing over the bloody mess she had wrought. Her mind raced while her body remained frozen. The brutality of the scene left her paralyzed. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from her daughter, now a stranger, a deadly force she could barely recognize."Just what the hell, Sophie? How could you...?" She trailed off, words too heavy to utter. But Daniel saw things differently. He saw that his daughter—the one taken from them—had finally returned.Ignoring the mess, he pushed past his
