Chapter Seventy six: The smoking gun

KAMARIA POV

“Counsel call your next witness.”

“Are you ready?” I heard Eden ask. He sounded as if concerned about my well-being.

I looked at him wondering if he has sudden grown soft on me and cared, but his expression was blank.

Who am I kidding?

“Yeah, I am ready,” I murmured even though I don’t feel ready. I have never been in a witness box before and I am scared that I will mess up and it will cost me my daughter.

I stood on a wobbly legs and walked out of my seat. Luckily I didn’t crumble to the ground. When I took my seat the clerk came and did the oat thing where I swore to tell nothing but the truth to the court.

I wondered if everyone keeps it.

I switched off my thoughts when Eden stood before me. For one so young he sure looks scary, and if he wasn’t my lawyer I will be intimidated by him. Who am I kidding. Even as he is my lawyer I am still intimidated by him.

“State your full name to the court.”

“Kamaria Paisley,” I did as he asked.
