CHAPTER 50

GAIA

Bella took responsibility for Juan while I rendezvoused with the guests. I moved from table to table, talking about how their hair looked different and how their dresses looked like something right out of my dreams.

That was one of the lines I'd learnt from my mother. After a while, I didn't feel so uncomfortable anymore. It felt more natural, relating and speaking with them.

But as much as I was swamped up in the party, I kept looking around, hoping to see a particular somebody. But someone else kept catching my eyes.

“Where the hell is he?” I whispered.

And why the hell were my eyes always catching Mr Miller’s?

“Evan, have you tried his number again?”

He nodded.

“I have. It was ringing before but now, it's going right to voicemail.”

Great. Just great.

“Is everything fine?” Bella joined us.

“No, it's not. I'm about to disappoint my son again and I can't do anything about it.”

The MC tapped on the mic and cleared his throat.
