Why did you leave?..

Alex was in his office, and for the first time since he took over from his father, he couldn’t concentrate on his work. He drops his pen looking at his phone as he waits for Simon's call. He doesn’t want to call and look disturbed.

Alex called his secretary Camel who immediately walked into her boss's office bowing her head.

“Boss” Camel called bowing her head.

“Cancel all my schedules for the week,” he said walking to his office bar.

“Boss, your father asked for dinner tomorrow evening Should I cancel that too?” she quietly asked.

Alex looked at her before looking at his set of wine cups then he picked one.

“ I won’t repeat myself” he finally said carrying a wine bottle and walking back to his chair.

“Yes boss,” she said bowing her head as she turned to leave.

“And it should be the last time, you spit that rubbish” he coldly said to his secretary who swallowed hard.

“ I’m sorry boss,” she said walking out of her boss's office.

Alex poured himself a glass of wine as he took it all at once, he found his palm sweating making him wonder why and what is happening. His body felt like if Simon didn’t see the girl, he might collapse. After last night, he felt a bond was created.

Alex kept drinking the wine to calm down when Simon called.

“Speak,” he said for his assistant to clear his throat.

“ I’ve found her boss, she’s at the mansion in the woods,” he said for Alex to breathe a sigh of relief.

“Stay there, I’m on my way,” he said and hung up.

In the woods, a beautiful wooden mansion surrounded by guards and an electric fence, Simon sat on the cushion in the sitting area waiting for his boss while Hazel who still was unconscious was lying upstairs in one of the well-furnished rooms.

After about forty minutes drive, Alex arrived at the mansion.

Simon immediately stood up and went out to walk his boss in.

“Where’s she?” Alex asked Simon to swallow hard as he looked upstairs but before he could tell his boss that there was a little problem, Alex already left to go upstairs.

Simon rub his neck sighing knowing he won’t be let free on this one.

Alex immediately walked into the master room and there, the little being that gave him comfort yesterday night was sleeping so soundly, he could see dark circles and swollen eyelids on her face making him wonder if she was still crying from her pains. Seeing the lips and nose, he knows she’s the one.

Alex sat on the bed looking at sleeping Hazel when he raised her hand and it fell. He frowned touching her neck, Her pulse was still active but her body was paralyzed making her unconscious instead of sleeping and he knew there was only one person who could do this.

“Simon” he smirked covering Hazel up with a blanket.

Simon was already walking up and down nervously when he saw his boss walking downstairs, he immediately stopped.

“Are you stupid?” Alex asked for Simon to swallow hard.

“ I’m sorry boss, she refused to follow me so I had to do….

“That’s partial paralysis, Simon. Get the Chinese doctor to come wake her body up immediately” Alex said As Simon turned to leave he stopped him.

Immediately Simon turned, and a heavy blow landed on his face breaking his nose.

“Goodness,” he screamed out holding his bleeding nose.

“She’s a lady, a fragile one at that,” Alex said walking to the chair to sit down while Simon carried his handkerchief to hold his bleeding nose.

He was expecting it so he just chuckled and left.

At a very big royal-type mansion, two blonde women sat at the dining table for launch, one looked older than the other but their have the same facial resemblance.

“Kayla, have you spoken to Alex after yesterday's gala?” The older lady asked looking at her daughter.

“Text him but he hasn’t responded,” she said sipping her juice.

“Stubborn like his mother,” Martha said.

“I didn’t expect uncle to announce us yesterday mom, like just yesterday night, my followers on I*******m have increased, and two clothes brands have texted me to model their brands. Mom thank you so much” the girl said for Martha to smile.

“When I told you that the McCollum’s are ours you didn’t believe me. You see Gerald McCollum is wrapped around my fingers just as soon, as Alex will be wrapped around yours, honey. Why did you think I haven’t given birth yet after all these years huh?, his secret is with me and if he doesn’t want anything to happen, he will have to give in to my request so don’t worry my love. Alex might be stubborn but he’s just like his father, after he tastes you, he won’t want to let go, honey. Are you taking those recipes I gave you?” She asked dapping her lips.

“Yeah, mom. Yesterday, Cynthia was like it’s not right, Alex should be like a brother to me” Kayla said for her mother to chuckle.

“Was I the one that gave birth to him? Is Mr McCollum your father?” She asked her daughter who shook her head smiling.

“I love you mom, I can’t wait to answer the same surname with you, and let’s show them how it’s done” She giggled excitedly when they heard Mr McCollum's voice.

“What’s making my future daughter-in-law this excited?” He asked smiling as he walked towards the ladies.

“Uncle” Kayla called as she stood up to hug her mother's husband.

“We were discussing about what type of engagement ring will fit her fingers,” Martha said for her husband to smile.

“Don’t worry, I’ve called all the diamond shops I know, a special ring will be made for both of you alone. Just relax my dear” Gerald McCollum said for Martha to look at her daughter with a broad smile.

At Katherine's apartment, the couple sat together with no remorse after what happened yesterday, they were watching a movie when Katherine began to speak.

“A man came yesterday with Hazel's photo, I guess the city CCTV showed her coming to our apartment because the photo looks like a CCTV screenshot,” Katherine said laying her head on Steven's lap.

“Why was he looking for her? He asked Katherine to sit up.

“I don’t know, I deny her and I told him I don’t know her. Baby, Hazel is not our problem anymore, right? We’ve gotten rid of her. I’ve loved her since high school till that night so I don’t hold her, She was the one holding me and now everything is settled, we are even” She raised her head taking Steven's lips.

“Let’s watch a movie, we’ve been having sex too much lately” he whispers for Katherine to frown lying down back.

“Is Hazel still our problem?” She asked for Steven to shake his head.

Kaila took his lips shutting him up as she kissed him so hard.

It’s already midnight, After the Chinese doctor comes to do some herbal medicine on Hazel he smiles.

“She would have woken up but her body is in a state of emotional distress, her body doesn’t want to continue living even though her soul is willing, after being knocked unconscious, it used that as an opportunity to fall into a partial paralysis state but don’t worry, I’ve done some wake up on her and by tomorrow, she will be awake.” The doctor said looking at Alex who knew that even though Simon did this, it only lasted for a few hours but Hazel had been lying down for almost eight hours.

“Sorry it took time for me to come, Mr. McCollum, my schedule was much that’s why. Next time I won’t come this late” the doctor said for Alex to sit beside Hazel nodding his head before the doctor left with Simon.

Alex look at still sleeping Hazel making him wonder what was traumatizing her this much, he knows the pain of being traumatized and he won’t let this fragile stranger go through it.

After Simon saw the doctor off, he came back to the room.

“Go search about her life, I want to know why she’s in this state. Find who is responsible” Alex said for Simon to nod.

“Boss, her name is Hazel Marie Smith,” Simon said knowing his boss doesn’t know the name of the girl he’s trying to protect.

Alex looks at Simon before he looks back at Hazel.

“Marie, my mother's name” he whispers for Simon to nod.

Alex bowed his head sighing as he stood up and walked away out of the room.

Simon followed from behind as he closed the door after him.

It was morning, and Hazel groaned in total relaxation and satisfaction, She felt her body floating as the bed she was on was so soft giving her free body massage.

She knows it can’t be her strong bed that does give her body pain sometimes. Hazel yawned as she opened her eyes.

The beautiful room was unfamiliar but as she tried to sit up, she saw two maids standing beside her bed.

“Uhmmm, excuse me” she called sitting up.

“Who are you and where…….

“Good morning” Alex's voice sounded for the maids to bow as he walked into the room. Alex nodded at them and immediately they both left.

“Who are you?” Hazel asked for Alex to frown.

“Wait, I can remember… the handsome guy from the bar, shit!” She screamed out covering her mouth as two days ago event came playing in her head.

“I guess you’ve remembered,” he said sitting on the dressing chair.

Hazel covered her face in shame while Alex stared at her.

“I’m sorry I left without your notice” Her blue eyes look everywhere in the room apart from Alex.

“Why did you leave?” He asked for Hazel to cover her face ashamed of herself.

“I didn’t want to cause you trouble. I’m sorry, I can also Lea……

She kept quiet when Simon walked into the room.

“You” she called for Simon to bow his head.

“You know him?” Alex asked for Hazel to nod.

“He forcefully took me out of my apartment,” she said frowning at Simon who immediately tried to clear her words.

“Leave,” Alex said to Simon who bowed his head and left forgetting he had come to tell his boss his father just called.

“You know him?” Hazel asked for Alex to nod.

“Find you,” he said standing up as he walked towards her bedside drawer bringing out a file and pen.

Hazel looked at Alex as he got closer, his handsomeness was clear to her, she swallowed hard anytime she saw the man who took away her virginity.

“Sign it” he gave it to Hazel who frowned.

“Excuse me,” she said looking at the file Alex was handing to her.

“I told you if I continue, you will become mine for life and you nod in agreement,” he said for Hazel to frown trying to recall.

“Shit” she covers her face as she hit her head after remembering with embarrassment.

“Then sign it,” he said for Hazel to frown.

She looks at the file squeezing her brows.

“I don’t understand, contract marriage?” She asked after reading the heading of the document.

“You’ve nodded to the agreement now sign it and make it official” Alex finally said for Hazel to look at him.

After reading the document she finally signed it after seeing it’s a contract marriage that can last to whenever she wants. Hazel opened the next page and signed next to Alex's name not bothering to read that one too.. She frowns seeing her full name in the document.

“That shouldn’t be a problem, Mrs. McCollum,” Alex said for Hazel to frown as he collected the file.

Hazel just realized she just signed a marriage contract with a total stranger whom she just knew his name.

“I can bridge the contract anytime I…

“Don’t tell me you didn’t read the last page that said signing the agreement means the contract can only be bridged after you give birth to like four kids?” He asked for Hazel to frown. Immediately she collects the file and opens it to know if it’s true.

“Shit” she whispers after signing two different contracts, first being a contract wife and second agreeing to leave only after they had about four children.

“I didn’t, I guess you were too excited,” he said collecting the file and leaving the room making Hazel fall on the bed.
