Chapter 12

It was Tuesday, my first day at Jackson Company, where I would be modeling for their perfume.

As I was getting ready, my daughter came in, wanting to tell me something.

“Mom!” she said. Even though she was only 5 years old, she spoke like an adult, unlike other children her age who still stuttered.

“Yes! What does my dearest baby want?” I asked her.

“Can I come with you?” she asked, making me pause what I was doing. “I promise I’ll behave, and I want to watch you work!” she added, making me sigh. “Please, Mom!”

I had no choice but to agree.

“Okay, okay! But promise is promise, okay!” I told her. “You have to keep your word.”

“Yay!” she exclaimed, then quickly ran off to her room.
