Danikaâs POV.-âNumber sixteen.âThe warder calls from outside the large cell and an Omega from across where Iâm sitting tiredly rises to her feet. Along her frail stance, the heavy chains shackled to her thin wrists and ankles clank as she trudges towards the cell door in her shabby grey gown.Weâre all dressed in the same rag clothing with number tags clutched onto it. In this large rancid cell, weâre only female wolves in here, enslaved for the sole purpose of breeding alone. Over the years Iâve spent in this terrifying shelter, hidden away from the rest of the world, Iâve come to learn that the humans, the arch enemies of my kind, capture and imprison us like this and force us to copulate with other captive male wolves and bear children. And these children...Iâm not certain where they end up; either sold off into slavery or maybe used as weapons. As the cell door is locked and the brunette is led away, my mind reels into memories from six years ago, to the time I had be
Danikaâs POV.-âMommy!âThe girls come hugging my legs at once and I gasp, taken aback. The one who had been calling out to me, having tangly red hair and deep tan skin, hugs me the dearest while the younger one with messy chestnut hair and milky skin sobs quietly into my leg.âHow can this be...possible? Shouldnât they be...â I bite my lower lip as I watch them with anxiety. How they pour their honest emotions regardless of the nuns coming to take them away. With conflict, I watch the Nuns pick them and take them away. The red-haired one struggles violently as she calls desperately to me, âMommy! Donât leave us!âMy chest gives a compressing squeeze as my eyes sting to watch the struggling children being forced back in line. With heavy emotions, I turn away from them to answer my number. The elder Nun comes in and takes us down a hallway.âMommy! No, donât go!â That desperate call debouches again and I grip my gown tightly, hanging my head as tears pour down my face.
Danikaâs POV.-âWho is it?â The teen barks crossly, running a hand through his hair and disrupting his neat hairstyle with a scowl on his face.âYoung master, your father sent me to bring you to him,â I hear the warderâs voice and tensely watch the teen curse under his breath, very angry to have been disturbed. He then speaks again.âCome inâ.At that permit, dread fills me to see the door coming open and I lock gazes with the warder withholding surprise to see me in such a slutty position. He just keeps staring with that expression until the teen addresses him with a dirty taunt in his vocals.âWhat, itâs not like you scums donât have your fill of them too." Then he glances at me with cunning and snickers at the stoned Warder, "Wanna join in?ââWhat..is he saying?â I stare at the teen in alarm, willing him to quit whatever heâs plotting in that head of his and when he returns his attention to me, he smirks deceptively and secures my wrists in one of his hands, pinning i
Danikaâs POV.-âMommy! Mommy! Save us!âThe shrill voices come again, debouching from the darkness engulfing me. I dart my eyes about, desperately searching for where my girls are in this dark and suffocating space that drowns all perception.âGirls, where are you?âUtmost fear rattles my being and pushes me into action. Iâm running like a mad woman, chasing after the ricocheting echoes of their shrills in this effusive darkness. Then suddenly, a sea of malevolent red flames surges from the darkness and forces me to stop.âMommy! Help us!âI blink my eyes with my arms up to shield my face from the scorches. Peering through as I take slow steps back, my heart splits in two to see my girls beyond the flames, huddling close with tears streaming down their faces as the flames wall around them.âGirls!âI hiss and fall back with staggering steps. I try to jump through the evading wall of fire but the flames act with a life of its own, obstructing my attempts and forcing m
Danikaâs POV.-I wait quietly with my girls on either side of me on the hospital bed while my mate speaks to the doctor. My eyes have been unable to vacate his body for a moment. Iâm simply just mesmerized by his presence. How strange to come to discover what a mate truly means to werewolves like me.I gulp a bit and hood my gaze softly. So this is what you feel towards a soul mate? The tingling explosions canât simmer down and I canât tune down my effusive attraction towards him. Heâs simply just dazzling in my eyes that it stuns me.âViolet, you havenât replied to the question I asked you concerning that other person,â I remind my wolf, averting my eyes to see my youngest with a gummy smile as she rubs the side of her face against my bump.Violet rears away, getting behind the shadows of my mind while I sneer at her, âHey, you canât just spring into consciousness from nowhere and declare Iâve found my mate and then back out when I need your help to clarify this confusion!â
Danikaâs POV.-Tch, theyâre scurrying so fast. I follow after them, careful with my gait in wary of the child in me. The girls disappear down a corner, leaving my youngestâs chestnut hair in the breeze for me to follow and as I frown and pace up a bit, a stray scent comes assailing my nose and crinkling it until I sneeze out.âAchoo!â I shudder and halt just at the corner where I sense an incredible amount of it effusing from. It quickly drugs my mind and ensnares me in a trance as I zombie-walk down the corner and shake violently out of my daze to see the source. An alarm rattles my being at once as I and my wolf shifts into a panic. âBlood!âAt first, Iâm still, stuck to my spot. My mind is in a frenzy and I donât notice Iâve ceased breathing. Not until shrilling wails jitter me out of my temporary horrid shock to wake me into the sullen scene of my girls tugging at the man strewn over a huddle of trash against two big metallic dumpsters. The street lamp is coming up in a
Vortexes.~~~Danikaâs POV.-âWe want to be called by the names you call us.âHah, so that was it? I look between the girls solemnly. I feel so sorry I could never come up with proper names for them. I didnât want to call them by their numbers either, itâd be too cruel and it would only keep spurring those horrid memories back.Charles looks perplexed by their sudden request as he stares at them, slow on how to react when my eldest brings her sister closer to him. âShe wants to be called chestnut, and I, blooming rose. This way, weâll no longer be referred to by numbers,â My eldest beams at him, making him blink in surprise and suspicion towards her mention of ânumbersâ.âThis is bad, we canât let him know that. Quick, do something Dani,â Violet rings in my head with promptness and I make a move to prevent the scene about to unfold.âDo you girls really want to be called that?â I step in and draw their attention to me. All eyes avert my way and my breath catches rather a
Danikaâs POV. - Three Years Later. ~ âLudis did what?â I gasp, pulling a chair to sit while Kashira grins deeply to affirm what he just said. I settle down and look between him and Mao before lowly asking again, âHe fought with them?â âItâs not uncommon among us, you know,â Mao starts to say in a rather calm tone. âEspecially among Alpha families. If there are sons and daughters, or even just a son, itâs a test the son has to carry out to determine if his sisterâs mate is worthy of her.â I bite down my protest and frown. âLudis isnât just any wolf, heâs an Alpha male and of the heterochromatic bloodline,â I argue defensively and Kashira shrugs, âI admit all four of them were powerful and Ludis didnât make it out without a few bruises.â âBut the kid won, and the princess is his,â He cheers, munching his dish of Chow Mein. Doing well to quell my argument as I growl stubbornly and Mao smiles at me. âThis is great! I havenât been to a Chinese restaurant in ages.â âEat up and leave,
Danikaâs POV.-Iâm nervous. This is the most Iâve been in years. I canât even breathe properly. Clutching my mateâs arm, I lean against him, trembling as I try to stabilize my breath. The Faeries whoâve helped me into my bedazzling nature-enchanted gown stare at me with confidence, trying to restore my timid brave spirit as I shut my eyes for a moment.I feel his soothing palm brush over mine and his tender voice speaks to me, âDo you want to sit down for a minute and pull yourself together?â Then he takes on a sarcastic edge, âOr I can just go out there and let them know youâre not up for it.âI growl and snap my eyes open to glare at him who smirks at me, poking between my brows as he says, âYeah, thatâs it. We can start from there.âThanks to his tease, Iâm a bit annoyed and I use that emotion to shake myself out of it. Ridding the unwanted anxiety and uncertainties that latch onto my frame and heart. Grabbing the bodice of my shimmering gown, I step forward.âIâve kept
Danikaâs POV.-Taren and Emma? Wow, will you look at that? Although it might seem as if Emmaâs so smitten as she fusses endlessly, running her trembling lips, blinking her eyes, nervously fiddling with her hair, and unable to tone down the heat resplendent on her face...Taren is keeping cool about it but, itâs evident that he enjoys the reaction heâs eliciting from her.I donât want to be privy to what theyâre talking about. I muster a small smile, watching them a little longer as I feel a familiar presence close in on me. When her trembling fingers try to touch her hair, Taren beats her to it, sleekly sliding his fingers against hers to tuck it behind her steaming ear. At that stunning action, their gazes meet and hold for a moment before Taren averts his to smirk a little while Emma palms her face.âSheâd never let Lian hear the end of it. But here she is, acting so silly like a girl experiencing her first love.âI raise a brow at Elaine who grins at me, only to have me deb
Danikaâs POV.-âYouâll sell the property?ââWeâve thought about it and thatâs the conclusion we came down with.âThose voices sound familiar. I groan in my sleep, rousing sluggishly along my slow turn over. On my back with my hand rustling the sheets in search of my mate, I frown and open my eyes. I jump out of bed, pick up a random shirt from the floor, and pull into it along my exit.âNow, donât look gloomy. It was never a home for you.ââStill, itâs where we grew up. Have a rethink, Christian. Youâre making a hasty decision.âFound him. Wearing a gummy smile, I embrace him from behind, pressing against his bare back and snaking my arms around his waist as I drag my forehead up to his shoulder. He probably sensed me coming, thatâs why I donât elicit much of a reaction from him. I want to place my head on his shoulder but find Liam staring at me with heavy drowsy eyes.âWhy you this little...â I whisper at him and his hazy eyes clear to revive a grin. Liam pecks my nose
Danikaâs POV.-Whyâs she with the Elf? How did she get here so fast? Puzzled, I walk towards them. Aunt Sue raises the Elfâs head onto her thighs and stares at him with a form of sadness I donât understand. I watch them with scrutiny, how the Elf barely moves with his breath fading fast while Aunt Sue takes his numb hand in hers.âSue...â He rasps, his voice almost just air. But she hears him, and so do I as I keep away. â...Iâm sorry I couldnât...go back to you...properly...âThe little life force inside of him disappears after he says that. Aunt Sue hugs his head to her chest, trembling softly as she mutters in a shaky voice, âThe times you did...they reached me.ââSeems like they had something going on in the past,â Violate ponders while I just stare at her as she slides her palm over his eyes to shut his eyelids. She gently guides his head off her thighs to settle on the floor as if heâs only sleeping.âEvery sinner deserves even one person to mourn them.âI push forw
Danikaâs POV.-âItâs a pity that her daughters inherited everything about her.âThe splitting sound of a gunshot suddenly rings out. In a flash, Elizabeth and Chestnut fall over the handrail and Grandma Bo breathes her last. Shock stuns me in place, with eyes spreading wider each slowly ticking second as I remain numb and unperceptive for a moment.âWatch them die.âIt all rushes back into me in an instant. The ravenous and black rage that consumed me before, sets my being ablaze in a breath. I leap over the handrail, going after them. I donât see Chestnut. Elizabeth is still in her bind and I catch her when sheâs just an inch from the floor.âYour Highness! This is the worst to have happened.â I hold my sister close, barely succeeding at holding my rage to force a turn around so I can see Tara and my mate. I see Chestnut is with my mate and I hand over Elizabeth to them.âYou all should leave...help Yi Wen...and get the Tuyens out of here,â I manage to growl, the last r
Danikaâs POV.-Poof! The head my maw shouldâve crushed to pieces explodes into ashen fairy dust. I fall back swiftly and shake my head to rid of the cloud. Only to growl ever nefariously at the face of my grinning enemy standing across from me â with the stolen Grimoire in hand.âHeh, think youâd get me so easy?â He grins diabolically, intentionally hinting at the large black voluminous book in his hand. âI commend your prowess for making it this far, but this is as far as you-âCut to the chase already. I ainât got time for pointless blabbering!Iâm onto him with a breath, working my maw aggressively, pounding my hefty paws here and there, breaking the floor and sending tremors through the walls- itâs now it comes to me. This is no longer the haunted maze. Weâre inside the Tuyenâs mansion. What a sneaky game indeed.I snag him with a swing of my left paw, smacking the side of his head to send him smashing through a wall. The result isnât gratifying, it only burns my fury
Danikaâs POV.-âDanika, hey, slow down. Youâre not thinking of rushing off, are you?â Taren questions behind me as we sprint back to the car. âPersuading me wonât work, Taren,â I cut him off coldly. âYou heard that thing as clearly as I did.âWe get to the car and I briefly turn to face him as I drop rustily, barely keeping my tumultuous rage in check so I donât snap at him, âI donât need your help to go save them.âI grab the handle and yank the driverâs door open, zeroing my smoldering orbs on my mate as I give the command, âMove over to the passenger seat.âThey all regard me with surprise, Charles blinking at me like Iâm someone else. He frowns and attempts to challenge me, only to flinch at the realization of something and lean worriedly towards me. âIs something wrong? Why do you look so angry?ââWeâre only wasting valuable time,â I swat his concern aside and use my ability to make the shift happen. I snatch control of the steering wheel, startling my sister to prote
Danikaâs POV. - My muscles still hurt from the intensive training I just concluded. Iâm so sweaty, itâs making my clothes feel uncomfortable. I cringe at the reek of heat oozing from my body as I enter the Pack House with my mate behind me. Itâs hard not to inhale the stench, and itâs driving me crazy. âSparing with Alpha Vyin and Ludis for over three hours sure is taking its toll,â I grumble with a crumpled face. I toss my face aside as if I can detach my soul from my body, inadvertently robbing myself of sensing where Iâm heading. Thatâs when my right foot bumps into something and my body lurches forward with a yelp. âIf you were going to become this grumpy, you shouldnât have chosen to spar in both wolf and human forms.â I cringe pathetically at the flat tone of my mate whoâs saved me with an arm around my waist. âWe donât have much time,â He begins to say after helping me straighten up. âYou go freshen up, in the meantime, Iâll go get the kids.â Itâs day four already, and to
