EVA'S POV

"He was looking at me, Vic. Come on, just accept it."

"You wish! Everyone knows that nobody beats me on the hotness scale. If only you hadn't scared him away."

"You..."

I pursed my lips, having no doubt that my two best friends were soon going to ask me to decide which one of them was dressed the hottest for tonight.

They always competed with each other in a playful way, but it was starting to get frustrating. There was no need to compare because both of them were stunning.

Standing at five feet seven with oval-shaped faces, rosy pouty lips, pert noses, luscious-looking breasts, and lean bodies that tapered to wide hips, Victoria Vidal and June Hoying could be passed for siblings.

Except Vicky was more tanned with brunette hair, and June had a lighter complexion to match her strawberry blonde hair.

Rolling my eyes, I looked away from my bickering friends, planting the earpiece back into my left ear as I refocused on my tablet screen and the video I was watching on YouTube.

I nearly let out a scream when the semi-beefcake of a man on my screen, who for all the right reasons had to be out of his goddamn mind, reached the peak of a mountain on his motorbike and flipped himself and his motor twice in the air before landing on a steep slope.

Adam Garcia.

My shock soon gave way to fascination as I watched him speed down the rest of the slope on his motor. Lucky him; he looks like he had a lot of fun risking his life like that.

No wonder he has been nicknamed The Wild One.

"Eva.... Eva!" I heard June's voice over the applause of the people in the YouTube video. "What the heck? What are you doing?"

Before I could get the chance to answer, June walked over to where I was sitting on the couch and snatched my tablet from my hands. She looked at the screen for just a bit before turning an incredulous look my way.

"Really, Eva? I can't believe you're still watching these extreme sports videos again."

"Told you, June. She's just so obsessed with watching them." Victoria said with a cocky hump.

"But seriously, you guys should see this." I quickly said defensively, taking my tablet from June. "Adam Garcia is just..."

"Adam Garcia, this. Adam Garcia, that. Always Adam Garcia." June said dramatically. "Seriously, Eva, we have better things to discuss than watch some guy who, for some reason, obviously doesn't love his life and hence resorts to extreme sports to increase his risk of dying soon. Besides, you only discovered his videos last week!"

"Extreme sportsmen value their lives too." I retorted, not liking the nonchalant way she spoke. "They do this for the thrill it invokes. It makes them happy. It..."

I shut up when my friends looked at me like I'd fried my brain like the steak for the dinner we ate a while ago.

"June, am I the only one who thinks Eva needs some serious counseling?" Jesus, she's obviously considering doing extreme sports." Victoria said, wide-eyed, as she slumped beside me on the couch.

"Baby doll, you are just twenty-four years old. I don't want to be faking tears at your funeral anytime soon." June said, crossing her arms over her chest. "I mean, people die from extreme sports, you know?"

"The risk of dying from doing extreme sports has reduced drastically over the past decade." I once again tried to make them see reason. "Besides, I'm sane, you know? I just watch these videos because I think these people are crazy brave."

"Something you and I both knowthat you'll never be in this situation." Victoria pointed it out, making me scowl at her even though I knew she was right.

Watching Adam Garcia's videos has made me find extreme sports very enthralling, but there's no way I can ever muster the courage to try it out.

"Now, chap, chap!" June clapped her hands. "Get up and let's go."

"Ugh." I groaned. "Do we really have to go to the nightclub? Can't we just stay inside?"

I was usually the fun person who liked going out, but I just wasn't in the mood today.

"Nope. We have to go. One, because it's been months since I last got laid and I need to be dicked down." June replied, making me scrunch my face in disgust at the detail. "And two, because of you."

"Because of me?"

"Yes. You need to go out and have some fun, Eva. That's what you need. Watching extreme sports videos isn't going to help cure your heartbreak. Now get your ass off the couch and let's go."

With that said, June and Vicky turned to walk out, expecting me to follow. I sighed, getting up from the couch to follow them.

Before I turned my tablet off, I looked at the screen one last time, and my heart did another stupid leap as I stared at the man on the screen whose extreme sports videos I've been binge-watching for a week.

Adam Garcia.

God, why did he... Why did he seem so familiar?

Like I already knew him before discovering him on the internet.

"Eva!" Vicky and June snapped at the door.

"What?" I asked in irritation as I dropped my tablet and followed them out.

༺❀༻

The nightclub Vicky and June took me to was called The Storm.

The place was just like I remembered it from the last time we were here. There was a long queue of people winding around the block, waiting to be let inside by the bouncer. There must've been more than 100 people in the queue. No joke.

"Can someone please explain to me again why, out of the thousands of nightclubs in LA, we had to come to this one?" I demanded after thirty minutes of standing in a line that felt like it hadn't moved an inch.

And it wasn't just having to wait in the queue that irked me. The air was cold as fuck outside, and the dress I was wearing wasn't exactly wired to protect me from the weather.

"Excuse me?" June said, turning to look at me like I'd lost my mind. "The Storm is the five-star nightclub that has all the craze."

I rolled my eyes. "People buy ratings, you know? Besides, what's the importance of it being five stars when it's always congested and you have to wait in line forever to get in?"

"Eva, stop bitching and wait. We'll be in there soon." Victoria said as if I'd been complaining forever.

Scowling, I crossed my hands on my chest and did as she said: waited. But after thirty minutes of more waiting, I was just about ready to get the hell out of there.

Just as I was about to tell Vicky and June, a sleek white Ferrari screeched to a halt in front of the club's entrance. And like a scene from a movie, four guys stepped out of it.

I gawked at them because, with their tall, muscled bodies emphasized by the body-hugging T-shirts they were wearing, they all looked good enough to eat.

After the one who'd been driving tossed his keys to the valet, I expected them to walk to the back of the line like everyone else. But when they made their way straight to the door, obviously trying to talk the bouncers into letting them bypass the queue, my irritation level skyrocketed.

"They're trying to bypass the queue!" I growled. "Who do they think they are?"

Both June and Vicky shrugged. "Celebs perhaps?" Vicky suggested.

"Or maybe they're just filthy rich." June supplied.

I gritted my teeth. "Well, I'm rich too, but I'm not going around trying to buy my way out of having to wait in line like everyone else."

And without thinking, I stepped out of the line and stormed towards the entrance.

"Shit! Eva, where are you? I heard June and Vicky hurrying behind me.

Once I got there, I stood behind the dark-haired guy who was talking with the two bouncers and tapped him firmly on the shoulder.

"Excuse me. You can't just..."

The rest of my words flew away with the breeze as the dark-haired man turned to face me.

He was gorgeous. His spiky, dark hair was deliberately tweaked in every tweaked way and left to lie haphazardly on his head in messy disarray, giving him an outdoor, rugged-man look.

But that wasn't what startled me. His eyes... that peculiar shade of brown irises... They were so similar to the eyes I haven't been able to stop dreaming about for the past four months.

I let my eyes travel to his lips and I instantly remembered the feel of similar looking lips on mine. Lips that had kissed me until I was breathless and shook to the core.

My heart racing inside my chest, I looked back into those mesmerizing brown eyes.

Could it be?

Could this be the masked stranger who kissed me four months ago at the New Year's Eve masquerade party?

You can't just bypass them and enter.”“We can't?” The 'potential' masked man chuckled, his voice rich and warm and so damn familiar. “That's exactly what we're going to do.”He took a step closer to me, making my breath hitch as he leaned down and spoke. “What are you going to do about it, sweetheart?”I bristled at his audacity. EVA'S POV“When are we going on our first adventure?” I asked Adam as I returned after going to keep my luggage in the bedroom I was going to sleep in.He raised a surprised brow at me. “Wow, I can see you're eager.” He teased, making me roll my eyes.I knew he was still underestimating my ability to do extreme sports, and I was going to prove him wrong."Why don't we start by going for a run through the mountains?" I suggested.Adam shook his head. “Look, as much I admire your eagerness, we just arrived from a long drive. Just get some rest first. The slopes here are very steep and navigating them is strenous.”I jammed my hands on my jean-clad hips, glaring at him. "Try me."He paused and gave me an assessing look before an amused smile touched his lips. "Fine. Let's see what you are made of."Two hours later, we returned from our run through the hills behind the cabin. While Adam was still running like we just hadn't run for two hours straight, I felt like I was about to pass out.

EVA'S POVAfter stepping out of the bedroom, I walked through the corridor, about to step into the living room, but the delicious sight in front of me brought me right to a stop. Adam was squatting in front of the fireplace, poking at the fire. I leaned against the wall of the corridor, admiring what was in front of me.He was shirtless, the cotton sweatpants he wore riding extremely low on his waist. It was such a sexy sight. His back was sculpted to perfection, and I was fascinated by how the muscles bunched and relaxed as he thrust and withdrew his hand from the fire. The same calloused hands that would soon be running all over my body...His usually unruly hair seemed wet from a shower, and my fingers suddenly itched to be shoved into it, to tug at it while his mouth did things to me…Fuck. I'm not getting on that bike.”“Why?” I lifted my brows.“Why???” She parroted in a horrified voice. “Do you know that the risk of dying from riding a motorcycle is 37 times more than from driving a car? Usually when the belt or the clip pulley snaps.”“Adam!” The tour guide looked at Adam chastisingly. “Eva, this place is as safe as it can get. Trust me on that. Funny how life worked. A year ago, on this very day, Adam had been pissed after Lucas had forced him to tag along to this same masquerade party with him. Now, the rush of emotions he was feeling as he arrived at the venue was on a whole different level; nervousness, anticipation, joy.He was finally going to reignite his relationship with Eva. Or perhaps they were going to start afresh, whatever floated her boat, he thought with a private smile as he slipped his mask on and made his way through the masked people. He'd intentionally worn the same blue suit he'd worn last year accompanied by the same Batman mask. Hopefully, that would help to speed up the process. God, he couldn't wait to be alone with her tonight.Adam scanned the people around who were mingling amidst the tune of the piano playing softly from mystery places. Apparently, Rebecca had decided to change the category of the guests to cut across several people and not just business acquaintances. He spotted Eva before she s

“Me?” Rebecca audibly gasped, obviously having not expected that. Adam nodded, and Rebecca swallowed before finally nodding back. “Let's go inside my office?”Adam signalled for her to take the lead. As he followed, he noticed her secretary giving him a comehither look, obviously wanting to catch his attention.“Merry Christmas.” She whispered, voice sultry.Adam offered her a polite smile just so she wouldn't feel bad and went into Rebecca's office. The place was spacious with a large floor to ceiling window, a couch, an exquisite desk and an equally plush swivel chair. On her desk, she had stacks of files arranged neatly, a computer and then some photoframes that were facing away from him.Rebecca was standing by a drawer in the corner of the room, pouring herself a glass of water, like she thought she was going to need it for this encounter. Done, she set the half empty crystal down before turning to look at him.For an instance, Adam saw something like joy sweep across her feature

It'd been four days. Four freaking days since Eva had issued Adam the ultimatum before leaving for her plane; if he wanted their relationship to return to the blissful period in which it'd once been, he had to at least speak with Rebecca.Even though he'd driven back to LA from Jackson Hole yesterday, he hadn't contacted Eva. She'd called him a few times a day after her flight to LA but Adam hadn't dared to pick up, too filled with shame because he couldn't fulfill her wish even for the sake of their relationship. And angry that she was practically forcing him to do something he didn't want to.Frankly, the thought of seeing Rebecca after so many months filled him with uncertainty and a whole other stream of confusing emotions. He didn't experience the hatred that thinking of her once had made him feel but he guessed he could attribute it to the months of never having seen her.He didn't know how he would react if she was in front of him now.Sighing, Adam returned his gaze from the

As large as the hall was, everything turned silent. Eva scanned their shocked expressions, and nearly flinched when June suddenly stepped forward."What? What do you mean you were with Adam?"Eva swallowed at the bite in her tone. "Uh, he kinda kidnapped me?" She cringed a moment later, realizing how ridiculous that sounded. She wasn't sure there was a better word."I knew it. That bastard!" Xander's voice was filled with unfettered antagonism. "Did he hurt you? I'm gonna beat the shit out of that guy."Xander seemed just about ready to storm out, and Eva placed her hand on his shoulders, hoping to calm him."Xander, he only wanted us to talk.""He only wanted you to talk?" Xander looked at her as if stupefied by her defending Adam. "He took you against your will. That's still kidnapping!""What about the texts you sent all of us? Was that Adam? Did he take your from phone you?" Vicky asked, anger in her voice."No, I sent them myself." She clarified."So why the heck didn't you pick

“This shouldn't have happened.”Adam fluttered his eyes open to find Eva sitting on the edge the couch turned bed, hands stroking her upper arms distractedly. He took in a deep breath. This was exactly what he'd feared; her regrets, even as they'd loved each other many more times throughout the night. That hadn't stopped him from hoping though.Yesterday morning, she'd forced him to book a midday flight which would be today for her. He'd hoped that he would have the whole morning to be with her, to actually convince her to let them to be together. Heck he'd hoped that she would tell him to cancel the flight just so they could spend more time alone at the cabin. He sat up slowly, noticing the daylight peaking through the blinds. No doubt they'd slept into the morning after all the energy they'd exerted last night. The fire in the fireplace had long burned out, and the cabin was now filled with just a bit of cold.“Don't tell me you didn't enjoy all the things we did last night because y

All she felt was the tumultuous pumping of her heart and it's consequent thunderous rushing in her head.Eva West, I'm in love with you.Words she'd only ever dreamed of falling from his lips. Just like that, all her guarder walls crumbled; they couldn't stand in the face of his disarming confession.God, she loved him too, had missed him like fuck, and wanted the same things that he did. She couldn't hold back anymore. Heck, she didn't want to hold back anymore. At least not for tonight.Tonight she wanted to let herself go, to reexperience the blissful feeling of being in Adam's arms. She wanted to let go of her fears, her fears that he would walk out any time when she let herself go with her emotions. She wanted to throw them all under the bus. Before any thought could come and hinder the execution of her next move, Eva had already lunged for Adam, wrapped her arm around his neck and smashed her lips to his.Her kiss
