EVA'S POV
I think I'm going crazy. No, I don't think so. I AM going crazy.Otherwise, why would I be following a stranger to the middle of nowhere to do extreme sports for five days?It doesn't matter that Adam Garcia is a celebrity. He has made it abundantly clear to me that he wants to sleep with me, and for all I know, he only wants to take me to his cabin in Jackson Hole to turn me into a sex slave. And yet here I am, driving behind him in my rented Subaru. For some reason, I feel like I can completely trust him.Deep down, I knew I'd always wanted to try extreme sports. Talking with Adam is what finally made me realize it. That was why I finally decided to set my fears aside and come have this adventure. But now that I'm here, looking out through my window at the huge mountains, I'm just on the verge of turning and driving the hell out of here.Adam took a bend in his car, and I followed the same direction to find his car parked in front of a cozy-looking cabin. I stopped my car beside his and dragged in a deep breath, unable to believe I was really about to do this. You can do this, Eva. The fear is all in your head.I had to smile at the fact that I was repeating Adam's words until a light knock on my driver's window drew my attention. I looked at Adam who gestured in a 'what's up' manner.I opened my door and got down, and before I could head over and grab my duffel bag containing a week's worth of clothes, Adam had already opened the backseat door and pulled it out. "You didn't have to do that." I grimaced at him over the roof of my car."Ah, just say thank you." He said cockily, and we began to stroll towards his place.Located in the heart of Jackson Hole and surrounded by hills, craggy rocks, and gargantuan trees with a cold breeze whistling by, the birds singing melodiously, and water rushing through the creek that run alongside the structure, it was a cabin through and through.Adam stopped beside me when we stopped in front of the stairs leading up to the porch. "What do you think?""I think I should probably grab my bag from you and race out of here." I shuddered as I thought of the crazy Mount climbing videos I'd watched."I knew it! That's exactly why you wanted us to get two cars instead of one. So that you can run away anytime you want.""Of course not!" I shrieked, feeling like a deer caught in the headlight."Scaredy cat." His voice was filled with a teasing rumble I found all too alluring as he lead the way up the stairs."This place is beautiful." I breathed in the crisp, cool mountainside air and soaked in the breeze."Welcome to my paradise."The cabin was painted an off-white color. The stairs and the floors of the porch were made from polished wood, and a white wooden railing barricaded the porch. A large net swing dangled, secured to the thick porch posts. The state of the wood and the whole structure of the place made it obvious it wasn't ancient. He gave me a sidelong glance as he rummaged through the pocket of the thermal jacket he was wearing. Jackson Hole was in its last month of snowfall so the weather was cold as fuck. But apparently, Adam didn't feel it because the jacket he was wearing was too light."Just in case you are wondering, I had this place built five years ago.""Why in such a secluded place though?" I asked. He looked around him and let out a sigh of bliss. "This place just offers so much peace, not to talk of the easy access to outdoor activities. I love to hide here when I need to rejuvenate my spirit, especially when emotions get..."At his pause, I glanced at him, just in time to catch a glimpse of his stunned look just before he slipped on an impassive mask, dropping some kind of invisible shield between us.What the hell was that? Before I could ask him, he strolled towards the cabin door, a bunch of keys in his hand. His backside view had my swallowing a breath. Just like that, my need to question why he'd suddenly stopped his statement backfired, and I leaned against the wooden railing, shamefully admiring him.Even though he was dressed in a somewhat thick top, it did nothing to hide the emphasis on his bulging muscles. I'd seen several pictures and videos of him shirtless and God was he sexy!An outdoor man through and through, he had a body sculpted from years of strenuous exercises and his business which catered to extreme sports and outdoor activities. An olive skin tanned from a lot of time being under the sun. He was a risk-taker who was tempting me to take a walk on the wild side with him.But could I?After opening the door, Adam grabbed the luggage and the grocery bags he'd set down, and without giving me a chance to help, stepped inside the cabin.I trailed behind him into the space just as he found the switch on the wall. Bright light flooded the room, displaying quite an impressive view. There was a kitchen to my right. A corridor led to the living room from the other end, hosting three rooms, one on the right wing and two on the left, one of which I assumed was the bathroom. For an unknown reason, I expected an austere decor, but I was glad to find the place, though small, tastefully decorated in oak, off-white tones, and Spanish-style sculptures. Two plush cream-colored sofas adorned the living room to whose left a fireplace was set, and the floor was carpeted in a beautiful blue plaited Persian rug."Nice place." I commented."Just tell me I have great taste.""Do you always have to be so cocky?" I asked him as he set the stuff in the middle of the living room. "You're the only one who comes here?""Mostly. But sometimes my friends come here, and also my brother.""Your brother does extreme sports too?" I asked as I moved further into the room."Who? The better-safe-than-sorry?" He chuckled, looking back at me, and his eyes lighted up with warmth, seemingly at the thought of his brother. "He'd rather be on a yacht cruising with his girlfriend. But don't worry. I'm grooming him into becoming more adventurous."I snorted in mock distaste. "I think I should rather be worried that you are grooming him."He chuckled again, swiveling to fully face me. "Can you help me here, stock the perishables in the fridge while I go back to my car to get my camera equipment?" He jutted his chin towards the kitchen."You brought them?""Yep." He nodded, biting his lips, something I found too damn fascinating, like all the other things about this man. "Been a while since I last took pictures of mother nature, especially when I have a sexy woman as company."He winked at me before walking past me while I just stood there, thinking about what he said. That means I'm not the first woman he's offered to teach extreme sports to.The thought stung me for some reason, but what the hell was I expecting? With a frown on my face, I grabbed the bag of groceries and proceeded to the kitchen to do as he asked. The fridge was divided into two parts, and I began stocking the top part with canned, bottled, and rubber-wrapped perishables before filling the lower part with food commodities: vegetables, fruits, meat, and the like.I suddenly had an intuition that someone was behind me and quickly spun around. My heart sagged back into my ribcage when I realized it was Adam."I can see you also have a tendency to startle people." I said, glaring at him. Done putting everything inside the fridge, I grabbed a bottle of orange juice and closed the fridge."No, just those who get easily scared at everything." He was leaning on the doorframe, hands tucked into his pants pocket.Rolling my eyes, I twisted off the cap of the bottle and drank my fill of the delectable juice to soothe my parched throat. He reached for the bottle just when I was going to put the rest in the fridge, and then proceeded to chuck down the rest. His adam's apple bobbed so enticingly, and my lips itched to bite it."So what adventures are we going to be doing here?" I asked him after he'd set the bottle aside."Believe me, we are going to be doing a lot of things together." His gaze streaked across my body, making it obvious that he wasn't only talking about extreme sports.Despite my hardening nipples and quickening breath, I managed a short laugh. “I already told you that you and I won't be fucking. I'm just here so you can teach me extreme sports.”He cocked his head teasingly as he stepped towards me. “What? Afraid that you won't be able to resist falling in love with me?”“I will have you know that I'm very good at controlling my emotions.” I answered, meeting his eyes. “Just as I'm good at resisting your charms.”“Are you?” He asked in a deep, sexy voice that sent a shiver through me.Then he leaned forward, coming so close that I could feel his breath on my face. I closed my eyes, my lips automatically parting in wait for his kiss.“Let's see how long you can resist my charms.”I opened my eyes when I heard footsteps, only to find him standing at the kitchen doorway smirking at me while I had been expecting him to kiss me.Fuck, just the sight of him sets my whole body on fire. How am I going to live with him under the same roof for five days without wanting him to touch me?I have to do my best to resist him. Lord knows I can't have a relationship with him or any other man for that matter.I just CAN'T.EVA'S POV“When are we going on our first adventure?” I asked Adam as I returned after going to keep my luggage in the bedroom I was going to sleep in.He raised a surprised brow at me. “Wow, I can see you're eager.” He teased, making me roll my eyes.I knew he was still underestimating my ability to do extreme sports, and I was going to prove him wrong."Why don't we start by going for a run through the mountains?" I suggested.Adam shook his head. “Look, as much I admire your eagerness, we just arrived from a long drive. Just get some rest first. The slopes here are very steep and navigating them is strenous.”I jammed my hands on my jean-clad hips, glaring at him. "Try me."He paused and gave me an assessing look before an amused smile touched his lips. "Fine. Let's see what you are made of."Two hours later, we returned from our run through the hills behind the cabin. While Adam was still running like we just hadn't run for two hours straight, I felt like I was about to pass out.
EVA'S POVAfter stepping out of the bedroom, I walked through the corridor, about to step into the living room, but the delicious sight in front of me brought me right to a stop. Adam was squatting in front of the fireplace, poking at the fire. I leaned against the wall of the corridor, admiring what was in front of me.He was shirtless, the cotton sweatpants he wore riding extremely low on his waist. It was such a sexy sight. His back was sculpted to perfection, and I was fascinated by how the muscles bunched and relaxed as he thrust and withdrew his hand from the fire. The same calloused hands that would soon be running all over my body...His usually unruly hair seemed wet from a shower, and my fingers suddenly itched to be shoved into it, to tug at it while his mouth did things to me…Fuck. I really had to stop fantasizing about him for my own sake.Grimacing at the unwarranted erotic thoughts, I told myself that it was because I hadn't had sex in a good three months, and there w
ADAM'S POV“Uh, whose is that?” I glanced up at Eva who was standing on the stairs, hip perched on the handrail, her bold front marred with just a glint of panic.“Oh, the motorbike? It's mine.” I answered, matching the nonchalant front she was trying to put up. “I leave it at a friend's ranch whenever I'm going out of Wyoming. I had it delivered to me early this morning.”“Oh, so you can keep it here with you while you're in Wyoming?” She asked, hope lighting up her eyes.“No, so we can take it out on today's adventure.”Her bold front cracked into a full-blown incredulous look. “You must be crazy. I'm not getting on that bike.”“Why?” I lifted my brows.“Why???” She parroted in a horrified voice. “Do you know that the risk of dying from riding a motorcycle is 37 times more than from driving a car? I mean, I once saw a motorcycle collide with a car. The car driver only had a few scratches. The cyclist died on the spot.”“I see.”She stepped down the stairs and walked up to where I w
EVA'S POV“Eva it's your turn please.” The tour guide repeated for the third time. After walking on that scary canopy bridge, Adam brought me to the Zipline Center. For the past thirty minutes, all I've been doing is watching people fly down the Zipline, but it did nothing to ease my anxiety.Suddenly, I felt an overpowering body heat from behind, and Adam was speaking into my ear.“What, Sweetheart? We've not even gotten to the highest peak and you are cowering already?”Spinning around, I threw him a glare, knowing very well he was trying to provoke me. “How many people have died from ziplining?”The guide, looking startled by the question, seemed to scramble for words, but it was Adam who answered my question. “Well, I can't know the exact number, but some have died. Usually when the belt or the clip pulley snaps.”“Adam!” The tour guide looked at Adam chastisingly. “Eva, this place is as safe as it can get. Trust me on that. Besides, this is the lowest of the ziplines.”“You know w
AUTHOR'S POV Adam instantly grabbed Eva's hand, tugging her along with him. Shivers of anticipation run down her spine as they walked through the dancefloor, heading for the bathroom.God, she'd never felt so daring, so wild. Sex in a bathroom had never been on her to-do list. But Adam had unleashed the risk-taking side of her which had been buried all this time. Heck, she'd never wanted a man as much as she wanted Adam Garcia. And she didn't want to think about just what that could mean. Not now.Right now, she only wanted to give in to her ever-growing lust for him, to the need to have him inside her, the fire that burned so clearly between them. All she had to do was not catch feelings for him, then she could return to LA like nothing had happened. How hard can it be?Eva didn't even notice when they entered a washroom until Adam banged the door shut and backed her against the wall, eliciting a startled gasp from her mouth. His bulge pressed against her stomach, his brown eyes b
Adam stared at the ceiling in his room, his guts twisting with disgust at himself for how roughly he'd treated Eva. He'd taken her with too much sexual aggression, and he was now somber enough to acknowledge that. What the hell had he been thinking? No, he hadn't been thinking. At least not with the head sitting on his neck. He'd just been so entranced with Eva, the overwhelming need to drive inside her that there'd been no room for any other thought. And when after their orgasms, he'd turned to face her while resting on his side, felt an itching need to reach out and caress her, to stroke her cheeks tenderly with his thumb, the bit of nonsexual emotion streaming through him had been enough to make him bolt out of the room even before he'd recovered from his orgasm. He'd never done anything like that before. Even though he always made sure to enforce his 'no-cuddling' rule with every woman he slept with, he'd never gotten out of bed so fast after sex. He'd just been too overwhelmed
"I don't have a mother. Never had." Adam deadpanned, looking away from Eva.That had Eva stilling, and she strived to ask her next question in a way that wouldn't feel like she was prying.“Oh, so you grew up in an orphanage?”“No.” He answered.“Foster care?” She asked tentatively. She received the same stiff answer. “No.”Eva frowned. He didn't grow up in an orphanage or foster care, so what did he mean by he'd 'never had' a mother?Unless he was some kind of alien, then there was something he didn't want to tell her. Before she could ask anything else, Adam beat her to it."Are you going to include the steamy sessions we'll be having in the book you're intending to write?""Jeez, no!" Eva grimaced, mortified by the very idea. "I'll probably be writing about myself and how I was able to step out of my comfort zone. Sex scenes aren't needed, thank you very much.""Besides..." She slanted him a provocative look. "...the 'steamy sessions' won't be memorable anyways.""Won't they?" A de
Eva stared at Adam, her heart squeezing tightly as she watched him pretend like he hadn't just told her one of the most heartbreaking stories she'd ever heard. He was obviously trying to pretend like his past didn't haunt him anymore, but remembering his earlier reaction about her asking him about his mother and now that guardedness in his eyes, she knew it did haunt him.Was that why he said he didn't believe in love? She wanted to tell him how sorry she was, but she was sure he wouldn't appreciate that. She was still contemplating what to say when Adam stood up from the log he was sitting on.“It's very cold tonight. We might have to sleep in the living room where the fireplace can warm us, so I'll go and start the fire.” He said, and before she could say a word, he was already on his way.Eva watched him go without a word, certain she'd pushed him way out of his comfort zone. After listening to his stories about his friends which had basically revolved around the same people, she'd

Funny how life worked. A year ago, on this very day, Adam had been pissed after Lucas had forced him to tag along to this same masquerade party with him. Now, the rush of emotions he was feeling as he arrived at the venue was on a whole different level; nervousness, anticipation, joy.He was finally going to reignite his relationship with Eva. Or perhaps they were going to start afresh, whatever floated her boat, he thought with a private smile as he slipped his mask on and made his way through the masked people. He'd intentionally worn the same blue suit he'd worn last year accompanied by the same Batman mask. Hopefully, that would help to speed up the process. God, he couldn't wait to be alone with her tonight.Adam scanned the people around who were mingling amidst the tune of the piano playing softly from mystery places. Apparently, Rebecca had decided to change the category of the guests to cut across several people and not just business acquaintances. He spotted Eva before she s
“Me?” Rebecca audibly gasped, obviously having not expected that. Adam nodded, and Rebecca swallowed before finally nodding back. “Let's go inside my office?”Adam signalled for her to take the lead. As he followed, he noticed her secretary giving him a comehither look, obviously wanting to catch his attention.“Merry Christmas.” She whispered, voice sultry.Adam offered her a polite smile just so she wouldn't feel bad and went into Rebecca's office. The place was spacious with a large floor to ceiling window, a couch, an exquisite desk and an equally plush swivel chair. On her desk, she had stacks of files arranged neatly, a computer and then some photoframes that were facing away from him.Rebecca was standing by a drawer in the corner of the room, pouring herself a glass of water, like she thought she was going to need it for this encounter. Done, she set the half empty crystal down before turning to look at him.For an instance, Adam saw something like joy sweep across her feature
It'd been four days. Four freaking days since Eva had issued Adam the ultimatum before leaving for her plane; if he wanted their relationship to return to the blissful period in which it'd once been, he had to at least speak with Rebecca.Even though he'd driven back to LA from Jackson Hole yesterday, he hadn't contacted Eva. She'd called him a few times a day after her flight to LA but Adam hadn't dared to pick up, too filled with shame because he couldn't fulfill her wish even for the sake of their relationship. And angry that she was practically forcing him to do something he didn't want to.Frankly, the thought of seeing Rebecca after so many months filled him with uncertainty and a whole other stream of confusing emotions. He didn't experience the hatred that thinking of her once had made him feel but he guessed he could attribute it to the months of never having seen her.He didn't know how he would react if she was in front of him now.Sighing, Adam returned his gaze from the
As large as the hall was, everything turned silent. Eva scanned their shocked expressions, and nearly flinched when June suddenly stepped forward."What? What do you mean you were with Adam?"Eva swallowed at the bite in her tone. "Uh, he kinda kidnapped me?" She cringed a moment later, realizing how ridiculous that sounded. She wasn't sure there was a better word."I knew it. That bastard!" Xander's voice was filled with unfettered antagonism. "Did he hurt you? I'm gonna beat the shit out of that guy."Xander seemed just about ready to storm out, and Eva placed her hand on his shoulders, hoping to calm him."Xander, he only wanted us to talk.""He only wanted you to talk?" Xander looked at her as if stupefied by her defending Adam. "He took you against your will. That's still kidnapping!""What about the texts you sent all of us? Was that Adam? Did he take your from phone you?" Vicky asked, anger in her voice."No, I sent them myself." She clarified."So why the heck didn't you pick
“This shouldn't have happened.”Adam fluttered his eyes open to find Eva sitting on the edge the couch turned bed, hands stroking her upper arms distractedly. He took in a deep breath. This was exactly what he'd feared; her regrets, even as they'd loved each other many more times throughout the night. That hadn't stopped him from hoping though.Yesterday morning, she'd forced him to book a midday flight which would be today for her. He'd hoped that he would have the whole morning to be with her, to actually convince her to let them to be together. Heck he'd hoped that she would tell him to cancel the flight just so they could spend more time alone at the cabin. He sat up slowly, noticing the daylight peaking through the blinds. No doubt they'd slept into the morning after all the energy they'd exerted last night. The fire in the fireplace had long burned out, and the cabin was now filled with just a bit of cold.“Don't tell me you didn't enjoy all the things we did last night because y
Eva couldn't feel herself breathe, couldn't hear herself breathe. All she felt was the tumultuous pumping of her heart and it's consequent thunderous rushing in her head.Eva West, I'm in love with you.Words she'd only ever dreamed of falling from his lips. Just like that, all her guarder walls crumbled; they couldn't stand in the face of his disarming confession.God, she loved him too, had missed him like fuck, and wanted the same things that he did. She couldn't hold back anymore. Heck, she didn't want to hold back anymore. At least not for tonight.Tonight she wanted to let herself go, to reexperience the blissful feeling of being in Adam's arms. She wanted to let go of her fears, her fears that he would walk out any time when she let herself go with her emotions. She wanted to throw them all under the bus. Before any thought could come and hinder the execution of her next move, Eva had already lunged for Adam, wrapped her arm around his neck and smashed her lips to his.Her kiss
This was going to be harder than he assumed, Adam thought as Eva shrunk away from his touch when he attempted to help her put her skis on.The weather was as cold as fuck, but when he'd asked Eva what she wanted to do, she'd after some long hesitation and impatience said she wanted him to take her to the skiing site. That was why they here in extremely stuffed clothing, the blades of the helicopter whirling and rumbling above them.Eva put on her googles, and without even waiting for him to put his own equipment on, she veered down the snow with an excited yell, ski poles in hand. She'd picked up a lot from the last time they'd come here and he'd tutored her on how to ski. Quickly putting on the last ski, Adam grabbed his sticks from the ground and navigated his way down. He gazed around, lost in the view of the snow-shelthered mountains that seemed to stretch on forever. He focused back on Eva while he was catching up. She suddenly executed a perfect brake with her skiis. Adam was m
After several near wakes with sleep plucking her right into its depths each time, Eva finally forced herself to really wake up. Her first thought was that she was lying in the backseat of a moving car. When did she go from enjoying herself at June's party to being kidnapped? She shot up her torso to sit down, noticing the driver who was wearing a Santa outfit and a Santa cap, but she couldn't see his face.“Who are you? Where are you taking me?” She spat frantically, panic ensuing. “Listen, just tell me what you want and I'll arrange it to be given to you myself. No need for the ransom calls and all.”Her brows furrowed when the person behind the wheel chuckled because the sound was too damn familiar. Her heart leapt when he tilted to look at her. “Believe me love, what I want has nothing to do with money.” A sexy smirk accompanied the sexy drawl in his voice. It was Adam, looking so comical with the fake white beard on his chin that she could've found it amusing.Could have, because
