Just as she was getting lost in what was happening with her baby, an ethereal angelic figure materialized in front of her, causing her to stumble and fall backwards to her butt. Mitzie was gasping and trying to scoot backwards away from the figure that stayed in the same spot.

“Daughter of Samael, do not be afraid. I pose no harm to you” the strange voice said as the figure materialized into what Mitzie thought to be a woman.

“Who the hell are you and where am I? What the hell is going on?” Mitzie choked out, trying not to cry as she stopped scooting and sat with her legs spread in front of her while holding her stomach.

The woman had floor-length wavy jet-black hair with caramel colored skin, sharp emerald-green eyes, and was wearing an enchanting lipstick color that Mitzie had never seen before. She smiled at Mitzie and stood with her fingers intertwined in front of her.

She wore a floor-sweeping royal purple goddess style dress, complete with silver belt and arm bracelets. The band on her head wasn’t a crown or halo, but more like what Mitzie thought looked like something Olivia Newton-John would wear in her 80s videos.

Mitzie gazed with her mouth open at the woman’s beauty and thought her to be about the same age as herself. Her eyes were wide as she took in this strange woman who suddenly appeared in front of her.

After a few brief moments of silence, Mitzie shook her head, “who. The. Hell. Are. You? What the hell is going on?” She asked, getting annoyed that this woman refused to answer her.

The woman continued to smile as she took in Mitzie’s appearance, and apparent fear.

“Daughter of Samael, do not be afraid….” She began.

“You’ve said that already!” Mitzie screamed cutting her off.

“How do you expect me to not be afraid when I have no idea what is going on, where I am, or who you are? ANSWER ME!” she yelled at the top of her voice.

The smile never left the woman’s mouth as she took a small step towards Mitzie. Mitzie scooted back slightly at the woman’s sudden approach.

“I am Etheria, Princess of Etherios,” she said in the voice that still seemed to be in surround sound.

“That doesn’t tell me all that I asked” she said starting to feel an anger coming on.

With the smile still on her face, the woman continued to stare at Mitzie. This time when she talked, Mitzie noticed Etheria’s voice somewhat soothed her.

“Daughter of Samael, my apologies for this sudden introduction. We fear, however, the time has come for you to return home. There is a great war upon our people, and your spawn is the key to our victory.”

What. The. Fuck. Did. She. Just. Say?

Mitzie sat with her mouth gaped open, continuing the staring contest with this woman called Etheria.

After what seemed like a long time, Mitzie suddenly burst out into rambunctious laughter, falling onto her back, and holding her stomach.

“What….” Mitzie tried to say but was laughing too hard to form words. Etheria continued to watch Mitzie, the smile never leaving her face.

Mitzie laughed so hard she had tears streaming down her face. Once she was able to control herself, she sat back up, crossed her legs, leaned back on her hands, and looked Etheria in the eyes.

“So, apparently whatever I ate this evening not only didn’t agree with my baby,” she said rolling her eyes as she stroked her stomach that, somehow appeared a little bigger just that fast, “but it’s also giving me weird dreams! Okay, I’m over it, now. Wake up, Mitzie,” she screamed the last part cupping her hands around her mouth as if she were calling a long distance.

Etheria gave a small chuckle which made Mitzie glance to her in an irritated way.

“Daughter of Samael…” Etheria began.

“Stop calling me that!” Mitzie snapped. “My father’s name is Roger Kingsley! I think you have the wrong person! Look, I’m just trying to wake up now so that I can go back to sleep peacefully…I’ve had a long day and I do not need this interference with my rest.”

Etheria began to laugh, not a loud one, but just enough to get Mitzie’s attention. Mitzie looked at Etheria, “what the hell is so funny?”

“Oh, daughter, I mean, Nelacos, if you prefer….”

“Wait wait wait wait wait...” Mitzie interrupted. “Now I know this is a dream. First you keep calling me Daughter of Samael, now you’re calling me Nelacos. What I prefer is to be called by my name, which is Mitzie,” she exclaimed feeling anger rising in her.

“Look, can I just wake up, now?” she yelled hoping that the jerky movements of her hands would prompt her body to jolt awake.

“I know what I speak to you is strange, Nelacos, however, if you permit me, I will explain everything to you,” Etheria said, taking a few more steps towards Mitzie. The smile that Etheria was once wearing was replaced with a serious look, which made Mitzie realize that she had not choice in the matter.

Afterall, if her body wouldn’t cooperate and wake up from this dream, she might as well see what this dream is about. Maybe she can help shed some light on the uneasiness she’s felt about her pregnancy.

“Alright. I have no idea what’s going on, what it was that I ate, but it doesn’t seem like I’m waking up right now, so I’m all ears,” Mitzie said as she bent her legs and wrapped her arms around her knees to keep them up. However, with the slight increase to her stomach size, she found this to be more difficult than it usually was.

Etheria waived her wrist, and two platinum-colored chairs appeared in the room with them. The chairs were ordinary dining chairs, save the platinum-colored arms and legs, and the purple velvet seat and back cushions.

“If you would please, I believe you will be more comfortable than on the floor” Etheria motioned towards one of the chairs.

Mitzie gave her an unsure look, but decided she would be more comfortable on the plush cushion than on the hard floor. Especially if it was going to be a long story.

She slowly got up from the floor and moved to sit in one of the chairs, not taking her eyes off Etheria.

Etheria sat in the other chair, waived her wrist again, and suddenly, they were sitting face-to-face. Mitzie gasped at how quickly that happened.

She starred at Etheria for a bit. “Okay, now, tell me what’s going on? Why can’t I wake up?” she asked looking around as if looking for something.

The smile returned to Etheria’s face. Mitzie noticed how warm the smile appeared to be, and it calmed her. She didn’t understand how that was possible. She was prepared to hear what Etheria had to say.

“As I’ve introduced myself, I am Etheria, Princess of Etherios. And you are Nelacos, Princess of Etherios….”

As soon as she said that Mitzie couldn’t help but burst into laughter again. So hard she thought she’d lose her balance in the chair. Etheria sighed and rolled her eyes at Mitzie.

“Okay…. okay…” Mitzie choked out trying to contain her laughter.

“So, in this dream, you’re Etheria, Princess of Etherios,” she said making air quotes, “and I am Nelacos, Princess of Etherios” doing the air quotes again.

“Wow. All my life I’d wanted to be a princess and knew it would someday happen in my dreams,” she said the last part with the air quotes again.

“I know this is difficult to understand, but if you’d please hear me out, we haven’t much time, twin sister” Etheria said, causing Mitzie to immediately stop laughing and her eyes to open wide.

“What…what did you just call me?” Mitzie gulped. “I know I believe I’m dreaming, but I’ve never had a dream about my twin sister that died in my mother’s womb.” Etheria gave a slight chuckle “that’s because, as hard as it may be for you to believe, this isn’t a dream, and I didn’t die.” Mitzie thought she would faint from the information. I mean, dreams shouldn’t cause this kind of effect on someone, as far as she knew, right? Yet, something about Etheria made Mitzie want to believe what was being said to her. And something about Etheria, resembled Mitzie’s features. This couldn’t be possible. There was absolutely no way this wasn’t a dream! Just as Mitzie was about to speak, she felt a strong kick from her baby. The kick could be seen by Etheria. Her stomach also seemed to go from being 5 months pregnant to where she looked almost 8 months pregnant. “May I?” Etheria giggled as she arched an eyebrow at Mitzie asking permission to rub her stomach. “Y… yeah” Mitzie stuttered out st

“With the queen being in her weakened state, Milvan had to bring one of us back. One of his visions had seen you being the one to carry the next King of Etherios, so I was chosen to return, and you were left on earth to fulfil the vision,” She explained. “Time between galaxies differs. Even though I was yet in Cynthia’s womb on Earth, by the time I returned to Etheron, I was the age of what would be 16 earth years,” Etheria continued to describe. Mitzie was at a loss for words as she stared at Etheria like she had two heads. “So, let me see if I understand all of this,” she tried to reason, “in this dream, I mean, this reality of yours, you and I are both Princesses of a deceased King who were sent to Earth as embryos to be hidden from a psychopathic tyrant who wants to destroy other kings and take over other galaxies, am I right so far?” she asked arching an eyebrow at Etheria. “You’ve got the basics so far, dear sister” Etheria entwined her fingers, and relaxed against the back o

Sleep came easy for her at that moment, and she did not recognize when Alford laid in bed with her, nor when he left the bed the next day. Mitzie quickly sat up as if she were jolted awake. Her stomach was growling, and the flutters coming from it were not as gentle as they’d been before. “Honey!” she called for Alford. “In the shower, my love. Be out in a moment,” he responded. Mitzie propped her legs under her, rested her elbows on her knees, and put her face in her hands. She had a dreamless sleep through the night but couldn’t get the dream that she’d had while she was unconscious out of her head. Her stomach made a louder growl, which Alford heard as he was exiting the bathroom. “Someone’s hungry, are they?” he chuckled as he dried his hair with the towel in his hand. “Ugh! I’m going to be careful with what I eat today, because I think last night’s meal was too rich for our son,” she said slightly taking her face out of her hands. “Our son, you say?” Alford asked cocking hi

“Nelacos? Sister? Are you there?” Mitzie squinted to open her eyes. The voice sounded familiar, like the woman Etheria from her dream the previous night. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. This is not the same place she’d been in her previous dream. This place was dark, very dark, and Mitzie could feel an evil that drenched the very fibers of the darkness. The only light was the brief flickers of what could have been candles. Mitzie realized she was sitting on a cold hard cobblestoned ground. Wherever she was looked to be some sort of medieval prison, as it was frosty and smelled of death. The thought that she could be in an actual dungeon somewhere sent chills down her spine and caused her to wrap her arms around herself. She tried to take a deep breath but wound-up choking due to the putrid odor. The smell was so bad she threw up a little of her breakfast at the repulsive scent. Who cares if she puked on this wretched floor in this forsaken chamber. She needed to figure out where sh

Mitzie felt like her feet were made of lead. She couldn’t move, barely felt like she could breathe, and was now scared out of her mind. Her breaths were extremely labored, and she knew this wasn’t good for her baby. “Don’t stress yourself or Darius. I am now activated to protect my wife and the next king of Etherios. Please have a seat so I can explain to you what is going on, and what we will need to do at this point,” he calmly encouraged. As hard as Mitzie tried, she could not move. She thought she was doing good to get the small breaths in that she was getting. She knew there was no way she could talk at this moment, yet her mind was moving at a rate faster than she could keep up. “Please, my love. Come, sit. There is much that I need to tell you so that we can protect our child and king,” he said in a soothing voice while patting the cushion on the seat next to him. “What in the entire fuck is going on, Alford?!” she somehow managed glare at him and yell. “Or is that even yo

“Who…who are the others?” Mitzie stuttered adjusting to where her ham and cracker snack sat on her legs that were elevated on the couch. “Our two honorary shareholders with Damos Corporation. Stanley and Maria, also known as Elshazar and Malshavez” he began. “That does not surprise me,” she responded. “I’d never met a driver that is as dedicated as Stanley, or…Elshazar… nor had I ever met someone as fiercely protective of children as Maria, or rather, Malshavez,” she spoke tapping her lips with her index finger. “Elshazar and Malshavez served alongside my parents when they were both killed in battle. I was a child at that time, so the story of me being an orphan is true,” Zara recounted with tears glistening in her eyes. “Fucking Japheth had taken over the Sulari kingdom and thought merging with their army would help him conquer Etherios,” she exclaimed, her countenance changing from mournful to murderous at mentioning Japheth. Her voice softened as she spoke again. “Elshazar and

Just then, Emma entered the office with a rolling tray of what smelled like pure deliciousness. As good as the aroma was coming from the cart, Mitzie’s appetite was not meeting the same enthusiasm as her nose. “Well, that explains why you’re always bowing to us, now,” Mitzie chuckled at Emma. Emma gasped while shooting a stunned glare at Alford. “She knows, Emma. You can relax,” Alford giggled. “Please see that the princess and the king eat, as we will be gone for a while. Trouble has brewed, and we’ve not much time,” he said with his face changing from playful to serious. He gave Mitzie one final glance as he and Zara departed the office. Mitzie sat staring at the empty doorway. What the hell is really going on with her? She knew she was awake, but she still felt as if she were in a dream that she was unable to wake up from. “Your Highness,” Emma spoke softly. “I can imagine that you are in shock right now, and you may not have much of an appetite, however, I would like to keep

  • Kingdom Burning   Chapter 12.

She’d heard it said that women tend to marry men that are like their fathers. She had to admit, she certainly had. Alford displayed all the qualities that she saw her father to have. Roger was always patient and supportive of Mitzie, no matter how outlandish she could be. So was Alford. No matter what was going on in his life, Roger always made time for Mitzie. So does Alford. Roger was dedicated to working hard to be a provider for and protector of his family. Another characteristic of Alford’s that Mitzie admired. The list would go on and on, and Mitzie knew she hit the jackpot when Alford entered her life. Mitzie would never forget how nervous she was when she took Alford to meet her parents for the first time. Alford had been insistent that he believed in the old-fashioned way of seeking her father’s permission to date her. She’d dated men before, not a lot, but she’d had her share. They were all casual relationships, nothing serious enough to take home to her parents. Sure, she

“Mom?” Mitzie balanced the cell phone between her shoulder and her ear as she used a spoon to scoop some ice cream and the chocolate cake that she was finally able to get her hands on into her mouth. It was every bit as good as she had expected. She licked some of the chocolate-brandy sauce off of the corner of her mouth. “No, Angel, this is dad. Are you all alright?” She could hear the concern in her father’s voice, and she felt bad that she had brought that reaction out of him so many times in her life. They were yet staying at Mitzie’s house for the time being as Emma had cast a protection spell around it, therefore making it the safest place for them. Even though they knew Japheth had left earth, they were still being cautious of any outliers, and with this new threat, it made even more sense. “We’re fine, daddy. Have you all heard from Emma yet?” “No, we haven’t. Your mother has left a note on Emma’s bedroom mirror and at all main house entry doors for her to call you as soo

“My love, let’s go,” Alford took a step closer to Mitzie and placed a hand on the small of her back. Mitzie turned as if to leave, but then turned back around to face Claris again. “I hope what I’ve said to you will sink in through that cap. You can save yourself if you do,” she softly said to Claris while rubbing her stomach. Claris looked back up at Mitzie with an unreadable expression on her face. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it and put her head back down. Mitzie waited for a moment to see if Claris would change her mind and say something, but after a few moments of silence, Alford gently nudged Mitzie to leave. She sighed and walked ahead of him as they went back up the stairs leading them out. Once they were outside with the others, Mitzie stopped walking and turned to face Alford. “Until we find Emma, I’m not giving up on Claris talking,” she said laying her head on Alford’s chest. He sighed and kissed the top of her head. “We’ll find out one way or an

Mitzie couldn’t help the unease she felt as they made their way to the prison in which the Solaris warriors and Claris were being held. She covered her nose as they walked down the dark, dingy corridor to where Claris was. The putrid smell of blood and death hung in the air, but she seemed to be the only one sensitive to the vibrant odors. She would chalk it up to either pregnancy, or the fact that she was not used to being around the stench of death. She was firmly gripping onto Alford’s arm with her free hand, and slightly leaning into him. “Are you alright, my love?” he whispered turning his head to her. “Yeah, just… this smell, it’s making me rather nauseous,” she replied moving her hand from in front of her mouth so he could hear her, but still keeping her nose covered. “If it gets too bad, I’ll take you back out, okay?” he kissed the top of her head. He unwrapped her hand from around his arm and placed his arm around her shoulder giving her the ability to lean into him furthe

“Mrs. Kingsley answered the phone and said that Emma’s not in the main house nor in her quarters,” Sheloah notified the group. “That must mean she knows what’s happening and is trying to figure out like we are,” Alford said standing. “Any idea where she’d go looking for the answer? I mean, if none of you are able to get communications out or in…” Nolan began asking. “Seems like the communications block is being done from somewhere in the Milky Way. Knowing what I know of Emma, she’s probably gone somewhere to conjure a spell to pinpoint where it’s coming from.” Zara, Stanley, Sheloah, and Maria nodded in agreement. “So, you say that Mitzie’s sister, Princess Etheria, has been kidnapped by that asswipe and being held in his galaxy?” Grey asked moving to sit on the edge of his chair. Alford let out a small chuckle that all three of the pack leaders had some sort of derogatory name for Japheth. He couldn’t dispute any truth in those names, though. “Yes, a couple of earth weeks ago

“Princess!” Charlotte screamed as she entered the entertainment room and saw Mitzie laying on the floor. She rushed to her side and carefully lifted her head as she put her ear to Mitzie’s nose to check for breathing. “Princess! Princess! Help, somebody, help!” she yelled, glad she’d left the door open as she screamed towards it while she rushed to where Mitzie lay unresponsive on the floor. “Alpha, the princess.. I mean, Mitzie… she’s passed out!” she mind linked Nolan and the rest of his leaders who had just heard the words from Claris about expecting a family reunion and for Alford to check on his wife. “Shit!” Nolan turned to look at the others. “I just got a message from Charlotte that Mitzie s unconscious,” he advised them ushering them towards the cell’s exit. Claris cackled behind them. “And so it begins. Soon you’ll understand why I said you’re outnumbered.” “We’re not done with you, witch,” Nolan admonished her furrowing his brows in anger.
