The man’s voice startled her, and she gasped loudly as her eyes flew open to see who the voice belonged to. “Doctor Spandau! What are you doing here?” she asked, surprise thick in her voice. The man that was Mitzie’s Obstetrician chuckled as he stood in the doorway to her office leaning against the frame with his arms crossed. Mitzie took in his appearance and could see how he was a warrior. He was about the same height as Alford, and was built remarkably similar to Alford, only Dr. Spandau’s muscles were not as defined. After knowing that Marva and Dr. Spandau were married, Mitzie guessed him to be in his late sixties, also, however, he didn’t look any older than middle 40s. She didn’t know if it was simply good genes, or if it was because he trained regularly as a warrior. He had just a sprinkle of grey hair around the temples of his close cropped otherwise brown hair, and his crow’s feet only appeared when he smiled. Mitzie sat forward on the couch and tried to gather her tho
Alford could hear the sorrow in Zara’s voice. “Commandant,” she started, “I should have reported to you when Luceron and Seraphine were late for the warrior briefing in the bar area at the hotel the day of the benefit dinner. Seraphine told me it was because of last-minute arrangements and changes with the dinner, and while I wasn’t quite sold on the excuse, I couldn’t argue it.” Alford let out a frustrated sigh and scrubbed his hand over his face with one hand while keeping the other on the steering wheel and his eyes on the road. “You aren’t the only one that missed signs of something aery, Preticus,” he spoke in an assuring tone letting her know he placed no blame on her for this. “I’ve had my suspicions about something being off with them for quite some time; ever since the Ervilan spy was caught trying to sneak into the Milky Way. I should have dug deeper into the spy’s getaway since they were the two who sighted them. Something changed in both of them after that, but I was cha
Mitzie squinted at the light as she slowly opened her eyes. She could hear voices, ones that sounded like Dr. Spandau and Mara, and another that she’d not heard before. “And we’ll make arrangements for her transport,” she heard Marva annoyingly say. “And what makes you so certain that she hasn’t mind-linked Orthos already?” it sounded like a female, one that had smoked too many cigarettes and was losing her voice. The sound irritated Mitzie like Marva’s voice, and Mitzie winced at the thought of having to hear both of these women speaking. “Because I told Orthos that the mental stimulation of trying to open mind-linking abilities on the virgin brain of a pregnant woman could cause harm to her unborn child,” Spandau asserted. “He’s not educated enough in the medical field to know that rule would not apply to an Etherian princess.” Mitzie knew they were talking about her. What is this mind-linking ability they were talking about? It was starting to become clear to her now how she’d n
Marilee’s eyes widened as she gasped in surprise and placed her hand over her chest. “When Etherios was attacked, Milvan detected Claris’ magic at work in the battle. We assumed she’d defected to a neutral galaxy where she’d be free to practice as she pleased,” Zara answered folding her arms across her chest. Alford was still pacing with a hand on his hip and rubbing the back of his neck in thought. “That would explain how Luceron and Seraphine were able to incapacitate the staff so easily. None of them were warriors, but they all had basic defense training,” Alford remarked tilting his head towards the ceiling and rubbing his temples. “What’s happened?” Sheloah asked as she, Stanley, and Maria rushed into the study. “A cleaning crew from Shiros is downstairs,” she said glancing in the direction of Emma who was still laying on the couch with her eyes closed and crying softly. There was a somber feel over the room as Alford recounted what information that were able to gather. “We
Claris, with Marva on her heels, walked back to where Mitzie sat. “So far you’ve done good in your cooperation. I will remove the foot restraints so that you can come and see the truth for yourself if you continue to be a good girl,” she chuckled. Mitzie sat silently, but pushed her legs out in front of her in silent agreement. Once Claris removed the shackles from Mitzie’s ankles, she gave a flick of her wrist, and Mitzie was in a standing position. “You see, I mean you no harm. I will remove the cuffs on your hands once you’ve seen the full truth. Only then will I be certain that you will not attempt to harm any of us.” Mitzie was confused at how Claris would think that by herself she could harm three grown able-bodied persons. Especially one who was apparently a witch. She kept her silence, however, and followed behind Claris towards the table with Marva behind her. Once they arrived at the table, Mitzie slightly leaned forward as her eyes widened in wonder. This was no ordinar
He chuckled and removed the remaining hand from her arm placing it on the small of her back and edged her in the direction of the chair. “She said Japheth doesn’t want me dead,” Mitzie whispered. “That’s a two-part scenario, my love, and I give you my word that I will explain everything to you once we’re out of here,” he replied smiling as she sat in the chair placing her hand across her stomach. The flutters had increased. “Here,” he started to say reaching in his back pocket and removing one of Mitzie’s favorite protein bars. “It took us four hours to find you, and I saw that your lunch was mostly uneaten at home. Please, eat,” he implored stretching the bar in her direction. Even in the middle of a chaotic venture, Alford was still wanting to make sure his wife and his son were nourished. Mitzie chuckled at this as she reached to take the bar. “Thank you. I had no idea how long I’d been here, and I have developed a bit of an appetite.” Alford leaned down and gave her a warm kis
“Mum,” Mitzie heard the child-like voice call to her. “Mum, I’d like to show you something,” she heard it again. Mitzie’s eyes shot open with a gasp as she hurriedly sat up. She was staring into the face of a beautiful boy who could not have been older than ten. His bright green eyes were smiling at her, and his mop of curly brown hair was softly blowing in a wind that Mitzie could not feel. “Wha…wha…” she stammered glancing at her surroundings. She wanted to be alarmed, but the comfort that this child’s presence emitted made her feel at peace. The child who looked like a green-eyed version of Alford let out a chuckle. “Mum, don’t be scared. I just want to show you something,” he said stretching a small hand in her direction. Mitzie immediately felt her stomach, which was amazingly flat. She stared at the small arm that was extended in her direction with her eyes wide as saucers, and her mouth opened in a silent gasp. “You…you’re…” she choked out. “Yes, mum. I’m Darius’ conscious m
Mitzie’s face softened as she rubbed her stomach with both hands. Alford glanced up at her and gave a small reassuring smile. She began walking forward, then abruptly stopped. “I have no idea where I am or how to get out of here.” Walking up beside her, he chuckled at her look of confusion. He removed one of her hands from her stomach, and laced his fingers with hers. “This way, my love.” He silently led her through multiple winding corridors before they reached an exit. Once they were outside, Mitzie squinched her eyes and placed her hand on her forehead to use as a visor against the sunlight. “Where are we?” she asked visually exploring the desert-looking landscape around them. “This is an abandoned and unmapped military bunker. The earthlings used this space for confidential strategizing.” He said moving them towards the Rolls Royce SUV parked not far from the door they’d exited. He opened the passenger door for her and placed his hand on the small of her back guiding her. “Whe
Hello, my faithfuls! Ok, I know you all are probably thinking that I've abandoned the book. I have not. Some issues with my chapters had to be fixed, and you all will need to delete the book out of your library and reload it for the changes to take effect. If you're this far in the book, you'll begin at chapter 35 (you're able to refresh your read in chapter 34), and proceed from there. Sorry about the mixup and the time you all had to be away from Mitzie and Alford...they missed you all, too! ;) As always, thank you for reading, and the gems are much appreciated!

Hello, my faithful readers! I find myself apologizing again for the delay in chapter updates, however, this time it's due to an error in chapters posting. My editor is working as quickly as possible to get the issue rectified so that I can begin updating again. The wait will be worth it....and the sequel is alreay being written. Wanna guess who it's about? I'll give you a hint: some new characters and some old characters will be involved and play a major role. I'm excited for their adventure to roll out ;-) Thank you for keeping up with Mitzie & Alford/Orthos' adventure!
“Mom?” Mitzie balanced the cell phone between her shoulder and her ear as she used a spoon to scoop some ice cream and the chocolate cake that she was finally able to get her hands on into her mouth. It was every bit as good as she had expected. She licked some of the chocolate-brandy sauce off of the corner of her mouth. “No, Angel, this is dad. Are you all alright?” She could hear the concern in her father’s voice, and she felt bad that she had brought that reaction out of him so many times in her life. They were yet staying at Mitzie’s house for the time being as Emma had cast a protection spell around it, therefore making it the safest place for them. Even though they knew Japheth had left earth, they were still being cautious of any outliers, and with this new threat, it made even more sense. “We’re fine, daddy. Have you all heard from Emma yet?” “No, we haven’t. Your mother has left a note on Emma’s bedroom mirror and at all main house entry doors for her to call you as soo
“My love, let’s go,” Alford took a step closer to Mitzie and placed a hand on the small of her back. Mitzie turned as if to leave, but then turned back around to face Claris again. “I hope what I’ve said to you will sink in through that cap. You can save yourself if you do,” she softly said to Claris while rubbing her stomach. Claris looked back up at Mitzie with an unreadable expression on her face. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it and put her head back down. Mitzie waited for a moment to see if Claris would change her mind and say something, but after a few moments of silence, Alford gently nudged Mitzie to leave. She sighed and walked ahead of him as they went back up the stairs leading them out. Once they were outside with the others, Mitzie stopped walking and turned to face Alford. “Until we find Emma, I’m not giving up on Claris talking,” she said laying her head on Alford’s chest. He sighed and kissed the top of her head. “We’ll find out one way or an
Mitzie couldn’t help the unease she felt as they made their way to the prison in which the Solaris warriors and Claris were being held. She covered her nose as they walked down the dark, dingy corridor to where Claris was. The putrid smell of blood and death hung in the air, but she seemed to be the only one sensitive to the vibrant odors. She would chalk it up to either pregnancy, or the fact that she was not used to being around the stench of death. She was firmly gripping onto Alford’s arm with her free hand, and slightly leaning into him. “Are you alright, my love?” he whispered turning his head to her. “Yeah, just… this smell, it’s making me rather nauseous,” she replied moving her hand from in front of her mouth so he could hear her, but still keeping her nose covered. “If it gets too bad, I’ll take you back out, okay?” he kissed the top of her head. He unwrapped her hand from around his arm and placed his arm around her shoulder giving her the ability to lean into him furthe
“Mrs. Kingsley answered the phone and said that Emma’s not in the main house nor in her quarters,” Sheloah notified the group. “That must mean she knows what’s happening and is trying to figure out like we are,” Alford said standing. “Any idea where she’d go looking for the answer? I mean, if none of you are able to get communications out or in…” Nolan began asking. “Seems like the communications block is being done from somewhere in the Milky Way. Knowing what I know of Emma, she’s probably gone somewhere to conjure a spell to pinpoint where it’s coming from.” Zara, Stanley, Sheloah, and Maria nodded in agreement. “So, you say that Mitzie’s sister, Princess Etheria, has been kidnapped by that asswipe and being held in his galaxy?” Grey asked moving to sit on the edge of his chair. Alford let out a small chuckle that all three of the pack leaders had some sort of derogatory name for Japheth. He couldn’t dispute any truth in those names, though. “Yes, a couple of earth weeks ago
“Princess!” Charlotte screamed as she entered the entertainment room and saw Mitzie laying on the floor. She rushed to her side and carefully lifted her head as she put her ear to Mitzie’s nose to check for breathing. “Princess! Princess! Help, somebody, help!” she yelled, glad she’d left the door open as she screamed towards it while she rushed to where Mitzie lay unresponsive on the floor. “Alpha, the princess.. I mean, Mitzie… she’s passed out!” she mind linked Nolan and the rest of his leaders who had just heard the words from Claris about expecting a family reunion and for Alford to check on his wife. “Shit!” Nolan turned to look at the others. “I just got a message from Charlotte that Mitzie s unconscious,” he advised them ushering them towards the cell’s exit. Claris cackled behind them. “And so it begins. Soon you’ll understand why I said you’re outnumbered.” “We’re not done with you, witch,” Nolan admonished her furrowing his brows in anger. He glanced back at her quickl
Howdy, my faithfuls! I wanted to take this time to apologize to you all for the delay in chapter updates...AGAIN. My editor is working on getting this taken care of as quickly as possible. You all have been super awesome with your patience while we get this resolved. Please delete this book and readd it to your library for the updates to take effect. I want to make sure each of you is where you should be in the chapters, as there are some spoilers lurking for the sequel! I'm excited for that book! As always, thank you for your support and your gems! :)
